  • i have just started wicca do u need a robe

  • @radiokrink

    I don't think so!

Probably best to ask a wiccan :)

  • @mikesey1 Neither Wiccans nor witches have a single dress code. Some groups and indivduals use robes for a variety of reasons. Some work skyclad (naked) and some wear everyday clothes. Its really a combination of tradition/beliefs and personal preference.

  • @danjpeg danipeg. I am aware of that of course. Thanks for the note.

  • @radiokrink Short answer - No, you don't need any special clothing or equipment. Wear what you feel comfortable in, and that allows you freedom of movement. Blessed Be. )O(

  • @ceke72 thank you my kindred blessed be )O(

  • @radiokrink no you do not need a robe. you can have special clothes that you only wear during ritual, but you dont have to. some of us even do some rituals completely nude. its completely up to you. if you feel that by wearing a robe it'll help you get in the mood and draw more energy, then by all means do it. :)

  • @radiokrink

its whats inside that counts, not clothes

    peace and light, blessed be

  • Fantastic video, BB.

  • @samanthaetain That's kind of an assshole remark. Maybe some people just like dressing fancy?

  • G. K, Chesterton was correct when he said "When a Man stops believing in God he doesn¹t then believe in nothing, he believes anything".

  • Hippies....

  • @ooonurse33 Im glad i read all these first thats what i was going to say

  • It is nice to see that the people of the land exist and that there are still supporters of the Spanish inquisition about to remind us of why the catholic church is slowly dying out. The faeries, at least a good number of there still enjoy when people come together to be joyful in the presence of God and nature. Much better than the dour faced masochists that force themselves to sit politely in pews seething with resentment for those who at least try to enjoy life. Born, catholic I should know.

  • truly beautiful :)

  • I understand the dress of the fire girl, but the others just look like freaks..

  • I hope they are just acting, because otherwise it's sad. Only the Catholic Church has the fullness of truth. Our Lady of Glastonbury, pray for us.

  • @Wellymary1

A good comment, but really, there is room for all in this town.

  • @Wellymary1 Wow...more typical arrogance from "The one true church"

  • @Floridacyclist It's not arrogance, the Catholic Church has the fullness of truth because it was established by Jesus Christ. Just stating a fact, that's all. These Beltane people can get on with their acting and I hope they are happy.

  • @Wellymary1

dans ta vision et ta croyance pourtant , cette cérémonie est pleine de vie, c'est ce que veux montrer la fête de Beltane.

Que ton dieu te garde l'ami.

  • @Wellymary1 i grew up in a very catholic family, attended catholic private schools and know a lot about the bible...still i hate being christian...i think everyone should be allowed to choose whichever religion he/she wants to believe in...the belief you choose for yourself is the right one for you...there's no such thing as the true religion...not everyone would agree with you...

  • I don't know what really happens between 2:44 and 3:20 but i get shivers all over my upper body

  • lol,it did go on abit, very interesting though,i would have loved to be there..

  • has anyone thought that what is said at 2:44 kill me,it could be a spirit bieng taped without the taper nowing it..just a thought...

  • @tipton3314

I wondered about that, and someone else spoke to me of that once, too.. I wondered about the heartbeat as well.

  • @tipton3314 sounded more like "get on with it" to me

  • Sorry!! That was ME being impatient, aware that the battery was getting low and with a finite recording medium!

  • hehehe love your honesty!

  • what was said at 2:44 was kill me, someone was not well aware of what the ritua was about or the lenght.

  • Very likely.

  • Wonderful video!

  • Hard to capture rituals on camera; but actually this is quite good.

I'd love to show the flowering of the erect penis (real Maypole) as part of a Beltane rite but the video would just get flagged; I should say that the image of the penis would be more inspiring than seeing images of war and death, but there you are!

  • Very nice celebration, wish I was there!

Others can say what they want about not being "authentic", too sanitized, etc"..we are in a modern world and must adapt our beliefs to meet our modern world.

The important thing is it is great to see that there are places where celebrations like this can be held out in the open, and not hidden away for fear of some kind of retaliation by those that do not respect or appreciate others beliefs and passions.

  • I agree with you. Holding secret meetings, where the public is excluded and photography forbidden, can be counter-productive, and may lead to unwarranted gossip and hostility. We should learn from history, for the currently enjoyed freedoms may change for the worse in the future. Some in Glastonbury should take note of this fact.

  • I'm afraid that I am not qualified to give an adequate answer to your note. I have to say though that this is a public celebration, with anyone free to attend, hence the back-packs!

As it was a public event it has to conform to certain "niceties" which might not accord to those celebrations held elsewhere in the world. I enjoyed this uplifting experience and others probably did too.

The significance of the Maypole was outlined in the side-panel notes; even a mere videographer like me knows it..

  • ooooo 2:44 i heard it too very odd

  • It sure is, but I've had one or two "explanations", most rather esoteric.

    Mike.

  • Hello Mikesey1, You might be intersting to see videos from the Promitheia gathering which occurs annualy in the Mount Olympus in Macedonia, Greece. It looks very similar to this...

  • Yes indeed! Thankyou very much for the response, AiasAthineos!

    Blessings. Mike.

  • At 2:44 does someone say "Kill me" ? LOL

  • Hi. A second reply after listening to the 2:44 slot. It certainly DOES sound like someone IS saying that!! Perhaps an ironic comment?

    Mike.

  • They just didn't like the structure to the ritual I guess, lol.

  • Dunno to be precise!

I heard none of these whisperings whilst I shot the vid! The camcorder has a very sensitive stereo microphone. The odd thing is that after your note, I listened even more intently, using headphones, with more volume, and noticed what sounds like a faint heartbeat starting at about 1:55 mins in. Doesn't sound like a drum to me; they are quite apparent (It ain't my heart!)

See if you hear it. Cheers. Mike.

  • Can't say I hear the heartbeat Mike, but I do always use headphones and that's how I picked up the whispering.

Regardless of it's purpose it made me laugh.

  • Hmm. it actually starts about 1 min 40 secs in.shortly after the "Panic" comment.

It maybe a drum but seems too faint to be that. A definite "lub dub lub dub" sound like a heartbeat?

    Ah well. Maybe my imagination!

  • i heard it too, loud and clear :)

  • Very good, Mike, looks great!
