Hi I've just bought this microphone and I'm struggling to get it to work with my webcam. I have a microsoft hd lifecam (usb), which has a built in mic. Are there any suggestions on how to get the yeti mic and the webcam to record together in sync? Many thanks, jack.
The thing about the feeding the headphone jack into a camera isn't true. The feed from the head phone jack is a lots worse quality wise than the usb out.
Hi Mate, I know you completed this review quite a while back, however I have been quite ill again unfortunately. I just wanted to say that I thought your review of this Mic was fantastic mate and very helpful indeed. I had put off buying a Mic as I have not been making any videos lately due to illness but I am hoping to be back soon which was why I checked out your review tonight, in search for a good mic. All the very best mate and take care. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you mate
Hey can you plz help me with the recording through Yeti, I cant really record through it with nuendo 4 , it shows up in device control panel but doesnt get it monitorred... :(
please lemme know how we record...or what software works best with Blue Yeti...
@samsonu01 Is the mic properly configured in your operating system? If so, check your default mic settings in your recording program. If that doesn't work, just use Audacity.
@carlheanerd no it wasn't intended for mac users, it was meant for any OS with any recording software, almost no hardware (aside from internal computer parts) is intended for just PC or Mac
One additional comment, does this mic come with any extra recording software?
My USB mic come with a scaled down version of Cakewalk or Pro-Tools, or something similar.
What software comes with this mic.
And, are the mics truly plug'n'play, or do you have to install some drivers to get the sound card, and the software to recognize them as an audio input?
I'm not sure why I'm bringing this to you, but it occurred to me that I could connect the headphone out to the line-in on my computer and use this as a standard analog mic.
Though if I have a computer, why not just use the USB? But it is an appealing feature to be able to use the mic as a standard analog mic in certain situations.
Also, very good idea to feed the Headphone out into a video camera Mic Input connector.
@gaozhi2007 I have not done that and remembered that it probably won't work due to needed prongs in the wire. I'm not sure if the Yeti can use the tri-prong 3.5mm wire needed for audio IN for things like the Zi8, I believe it only uses a di-prong for audio out but not in.
Just pick up a cheap one on Amazon, they have some good products for about $30.
@ohhiimdoug The recordings have more depth to the sound plus the adjustable modes and gain are invaluable. This is a better value. I'd go to Cnet's review, they have comparisons. The difference is rather striking, at least to my ears...
hey i was wondering if this mic would work for putting next to an amp or speakers because im no singer and i play guitar and could this mic record guitar with distortion and bass and other intruments
@respilicious What do you mean by tweak the settings? I left the gain at minimal, didn't use a pop filter, and switched modes as indicated if thats what you mean.
does it have -10db pad?

How close do you need to be to the mic to get good sound? ... Can I have it easily out of frame of a vlog and still get good sound quality?

Would this pick up drums without a lot of fuzzyness?
I'm looking for a USB mic and I don't care about the quality at all. As long as everything can be heard.

Have you really used the audio out to record into your video camera? If that works that would be awesome. I need an outboard mic for my video cam.

@carlheanerd Can I ask a question though? Do you know of "any" shockmounts that this fits? Thanks! Otto

@MELONMOVIES It doesn't seem there is a compatible one right now, but things can always change. I haven't found a need though.
Remember it will fit on any standard thread mount.
