  • 0:26 Rorschach becomes Joker.

  • I like how you don't know it's roshac "sorry I spelt it wrong" until the escape scene.

  • I love a lot about this scene. The guy painting the FALLOUT SHELTER sign. The kid reading the Black Freighter. The Veidt Method ad on the back of the comic. The "Halloween issue" of the New Frontiersman. The kid delivering them to the news stand.

In so few frames, so much is dead-on perfect when compared to the source. I only wished they did that for the whole thing. I would have loved a 2-part movie just to see them add it all CORRECTLY.

  • I find myself sypathising with Walter. Daniel gives him a wary look and proceeds to tell Laurie about the bad neighbourhood.

Can't help but feel sorry for the guy. =P

  • 0:18 is that the bear jew?!

  • @XxXhappyTimesXxX No that's not Eli Roth. I'm pretty sure that guy's black.

  • haha, rorschach as one of those pescimistic homeless guys. why is that funny

  • @stomyn that is reality.

  • lol "well I'm in a bad mood..."

  • at 0.17 is that tim from rise against?

  • @MrSoytacos probably, Zack Snyder loves rock bands and what not........he uses music from Muse in every single movie

  • Maybe, it'd be better to get rid of this sequence because many people can tell that guy is Rorschach; he's little.

In the comic version, Rorschach is taller with his special shoes on and I loved that even better.

  • @kker123 of course you can tell its Rorschach

    its the same actor

  • I bet Walter reads Soldier of Fortune. No wait. The Comedian probably reads that. Anyway, Walter's just like Sid the sloth...a lone lonely loner.

    \8-P

  • @IggyHazard If you read the comic it's called the New Frontiersman, it's a right-wing paper. It's funny in the comic though because he always asks if the new issue is in. The vendor says no but he'll tell him when it's in, then Walter goes away. Then sneaks up on him, scaring him moments later and asks "are you sure/promise?" lol He's like a puppy that just needs attention. XD

  • @dustylefou Ever heard of Paladin Press? Walter would be all over that.

    }:-D

  • What are they talking about?

  • why did they cut the only bernie and bernie scene?

  • They should have left that piece in. It would help explain the end

  • @lafty1970 this is one of the times that the cuts really had an impact on the overall film

  • the guy with the picket fence is rorscach :)

  • I freaking love the scenes of Walter going around.

It becomes a game after you've seen the movie once. "Where's Walter?! There he is!"

Third time I watched this I spent the whole time looking for Walter in the background. It was enjoyable, love that hobo(and I know, in the comic he has an apartment).

  • but in the book, Dan sees rorschach follow the big figure into the restroom, and recognises him by his size

  • @Exiled86

Except when Rorshach is in costume he's wearing lifts in his shoes to make him taller.

  • I wonder what Rorschach/Night owl were thinking at 0:33 :S

  • Rorschach was prob thinking that Dan was somehow betraying him by starting a r/ship with Laurie.

Dan was prob thinking, "Christ, that guy seems [not looks] familiar..."

  • True. But theres one thing I dont get, is would'nt one of the Watchmen notice something about some random guy who seems to come out of no where with the same sign all the time? :P

  • Then it wouldn't have been such an effective disguise for so many yrs...

  • lol

  • The actor for Rorschach looks a little bit like a red haired Clint Eastwood doesn't he?

  • the end is nigh

    brilliant

  • Sounds silly but this scene is actually quite important to me, I find that when you've seen these everyday characters you feel for them more when the big explosion happens, especially when Bernie and Bernie try to protect each other.

  • you shouldve included the scene where dan and laurie make mincemeat out of those gang members

  • SHEE--IT!!

  • You think Dan recognised Kovacs?

  • I got the impression that Dan had never seen his friend's actual face, but Rorschach knew who Nite Owl was.

  • dan knew who rorshach was in the graphic novel you should read it some time

  • yeah, at the end of the graphic novel, Dan knows who Rorschach is; he doesn't at this time though.

  • Nope, he didn't. Never did, never figured it out until he'd seen him in prison during the break.

  • Nope, he never had, R never allowed anyone to know his true ID. BUT, Dan's prob thinking that the guy seems (not looks) familiar...

  • no, dan never saw rorschach's true face, so he did not recognize him

  • Anyone notice that the guy standing in the flatbed has the Watchmen insignia on his shirt?

  • Its actually just a regular smiley face. At the end, in case you haven't seen it, the guy wearing the smiley face shirt dribbles sauce on it, to mimick the blodd splatter of the watchmen insignia

  • Yeah, the guy with the shirt is at the end of the graphic novel, he guys some sauce down his shirt and it looks like Comedian's bagde with the blood stain. I don't know if this happens in the film.

  • it does :)

  • ya... he's the guy at the end who sees Rorschach's journal.

  • The Smiley Face was a constant symbol and theme in the graphic novel, and the movie. If you read the book, and look at the doomsday clock in between chapters, the blood streak on the comedians button is in the same position as the minute hand on the clock. The novel had a lot of interesting little symbols like that.

  • Kinda funny that Dan wants a cab after bumping into Rorschach.

  • walter kovacs is adorable, i bet if he'd said anything dan wouldve recognized him

  • @tiemedown Well, that happens when you got his voice.

  • @Ko252 I despair of Dan as a detective sometimes. He is Rorschach's height, has red stubble, the same scars and is always following Dan around being miserable.....take a hint baby.

  • @tiemedown what?

  • @tiemedown In Dan's defense, Kovacs is around A LOT in that neighborhood, carrying his THE END IS NIGH sign. Could be just one of those invisibly familiar people to him. He recognizes Kovacs just because of the frequency of his appearances.

  • @ArchoniusXXVII Thats exactly the point of Rorschach as a symbolic character but its just alittle hilarious how little Dan sees. No wonder Rorschach is constantly worrying about his safety, he has no idea when he's being followed. I feel like Dan has instincts but doesnt rely on them, I wonder what kind of detective he would be without his insecurities (btw do you know where Dan was at the time of Grice? I cant remember if the novel explained)

  • @tiemedown No, I think they had split up by then.

The comic never explains it, and the game kinds of hints as to why they were no longer a team.

  • without these bits i dont get a feel that it is effecting others in this world as the comic book clearly illustrated

  • You're absoloutely right.I l also felt the fIlm lacked the graphic novel's cohesion without a lot of these scenes.I enjoyed it in the cinema, but wanted a little more.

I'm looking forward to watching the directors cut. These scenes inject a lot of magic back into the film.

Zac Snyder and co had to fight uphill to achhieve what they did, perhaps now the movie can really shine like it was supposed to.

  • these little bits are wat made watchmen so good

  • dude...don't worry :P I read the book AGES before the movie was even in the works :) - I said it like that because most people don't read nowadays. I could say 'I read watchmen even BEFORE it was cool' but I still don't think it is that cool seeing as hardly anyone nowadays thinks it fun or necessary to pick up a book. It's all TV and the internet now. and it just makes me sad.

  • yeah i read the book before the movie because 3 years ago rotten tomatoes was hyping the crap of

it so i went to borders and read it

  • hey man, im just 20 y.o old and was not born when watchmen cames out ...i never now that a watchmen comic exist, before i hear about the movie. and a lot of young people have the same experience. but dont say they all are dumb cause they dont read the book...

(my english is bad, sorry im living in germany)

  • I didn't say they are dumb - but can I say, I'm 16 and I read it.

  • dan/rorsy=otp :P

  • If you watch the dvd closely - you see him LOADS of times before you know it's him - Either his face, or just carrying the sign.

  • Or, ya know, nuclear Fallout.

  • a fallout is a nuclear strike or something.

  • Fallout is the radioactive ash that falls out of the sky downwind of a nuclear explosion. If inhaled or swallowed, it can cause cancer. So the idea is to stay in a shelter until rain washes external surfaces clean. Hence the need to have a supply of food and filtered air in the shelter.

  • Ha. Really? You think it's referring to a game that came out years after it? You know that "fallout" is a real word right?

  • 0:26 this page is taken directly from the extra pages of the watchmen comic issue 8, the only difference is the comedian's photo

  • i saw walter smile

  • im pretty sure that was in the movie i saw it yesterday :P

  • it was..in director's cut

  • Part of it. 0:31-0:36 is in the movie. The rest isn't.

  • it was that part i mena :)

  • When Dan looked at Walter, did he know that he was Rorschach?

  • i don't think so

  • @anotherthinwhiteduke but it's obvoius that he had a feeling like he knew the guy from somewhere.

  • No,no one knows who Rorschach really is.

But a careful spectator can realize that man is Rorschach. You have to link various movie's pieces to realize it.

So,I think that if you want to completelly understand this movie, you have to see it at least two times.

  • in GN it's kinda easier to guess that the homeless dude is rorschach. but at first i thought it's moloch) dunno why

  • nobody knows the real face of Rorschach until is caught by the police

  • @DarthRiccardo

or, just read the graphic novel

  • yeah they know how each other look

  • @lugia3 He didn't, he might've thought he looked familiar or creepy.

  • @lugia3 No, Dan didn't know. He never knew what Rorschach looked like under the mask.

And technically, Rorschach wasn't "homeless" -- he lived in an apartment building run by a whore. In the comic it was a rather interesting build up where he complains about his landlady, she badmouths him on TV when he gets caught, then he confronts her after the prison break.
