This is the ending of the 2nd arc of the series. look up at the continuation, they survived and the story goes on. However I think the author wanted it to end here somewhere after here because he seems to ran out of ideas after that. The later arcs suffered long periods of hiatus.

actually the author was prodded by fan response to rescue 002 and 009 and continue the series. So the guys were plucked from their predicament by way of 001's telekinetic skills.

I think this is a great ending for a classic series. The classics seem to like the open ended sad endings more than the cookie cutter "everyone lives" ones. Cowboy Bebop and Samurai X are good examples of this, but CB is my favorite.

God dang. I never saw the final episodes of Cyborg 009. The furthest I ever watched these episodes go to was when you see him meet 0011 and 0012 or something. Atleast that's where i think i last watched to. This ending is so Bad though lol. It would make me hate myself for watching all the episodes haha.

Plus the ending was so pointless cuz of the energy 002 had to use. If he knew he was going to die anyhow he shoulda just not of come>.<

@lesiegelad the main reason it ended so...abruptly (that's a good way to put it) is because the writer of the series,Shotaro Ishinomori Died. The series (both anime and manga) were never finished and this was the ending that they gave the series. Still a good one

I don't understand wasn't there some way for Joe to use his acceleration so it slowed down the fall and wouldn't burn up? I can't figure out the friction caused from going faster then the speed of light to the gravity and force of the earth but there had to be some way. I'm just upset the best members had to die, but I guess it was fate since 002 and 009 were basically brother cyborgs more so then anyone else.

@ChiaRiaRei that's not how it ends. i saw this on TV when i lived in jordan. the translation is wrong. 002 tells 009 that he has enough energy to let one of them survive, and so 009 is arguing to 002 to just save himself, then 009 because of 002 sacrificing himself to save joe. that's the ending, then i forgot the conversation of when he returns. i need to find this ep. ^_^

The anime is only the first story arc and was supposed to finish there but because fans were outraged the author brought 002 and 009 back in the next story arc where at the beginning it explains that 002 and 009 were saved by 009 at the last second. I'm sorry for being unclear, to the extent of my knowledge they didn't actually animate the altered ending as they stopped animating it there. Like a cliffhanger!

Los capitulos donde se enfrentan a "dios" se hicieron solo para esta version, si te fijas los diseños de los personajes son un poco diferentes, ademas de que no tiene ninguna relacion con lo sucedido con fantasma negro.

Fue como darle un final epico y curioso, muy parecido al de Spiderman, cuando Spidey conoce a Stan Lee, su creador.

This serie doesn´t have a real end. This is one end that the producers make for this remake. ishinomori dead before he publish the end. Ishinomori´s son had the real one end end he doesn´t want publish.

No, this is the complete and utter ending. The series has been split into two for DVD box sets. Episodes 1-25 are "Season One" and 26 and onwards are "Season Two". I don't know why they've done this, I just know that they have.

Nope, youre wrong. There are more episodes with stories from Shoutarou Ishinomori's original manga and arcs besides the ones from the first season. One is the arc of the priestess Hisui and in the final arc the Cyborgs wear blue suits with red scarfs.

And no, I am not wrong or mixed up about the original anime adaptation of the manga from the 60's or the anime from 1979. I remember it wel because I am a fan of Ishinomori's works and the 2001 anime was aired completely in my country.
