La verdad es que por mas que quiera annete no podra llenar lo zapatos de tarja ya que esta banda nunca sera lo mismo sin su cantante titular, lo malo es la fama que le dio tarja y eso siempre sera un gran peso sobre los hombros de annete, nigthwish deberia olvidarse del repertorio de tarja y producir musica para annete, no musica pop o cualquier cosa que no sea gotico metal
They should do a special studio recording with her at the helms of this though. I like it. I like the airy-ness of her voice, it goes perfect with the Oceanborn scenery, the fragile-ness of it laced with the melody.
I like the beginning but her voice shows she's unequipped for the rest. No one lie to yourself, hiring Anette to Nightwish was the dumbest thing in the history of music, but she does have a decent voice, when its executed correctly.

Anette, although she may sound out of tune from time 2 time, actually does sing from her diaphragm, & is also able 2 sing in tune, & on pitch without any music 2 fall back on. Her vocals are earthy, & folksy & she is able to carry both melodies and harmonies. She sings in many different styles the most notable being rock.

On tv contests, I've seen better performers. Some people keep going to those musical contests thinking they know a lot about music and technical stuff. But what matters is the output, essentially to be TUNED to the music. If you are out of key, forget the rest.
Anette will never have the Tarja's voice, her voice his powerless but it's very beautiful and she sings with her heart. She has not the Tarja's technic but she has a better spirit it's for that than Tarja is goaway she was selffish, Anette is cool and she has great energie so leave her.

I like new album, i like annette's "rock" voice. But in a lot of old songs, for what i can hear here in the net, she's out of tune. It's not tarja's fan fault (i've said this in another comment to another video) if annette's out of tune. In this concert she's out of tune in all old songs... Stop saying she's not. Although I know that a few Tarja-fanboys / girls maybe will flame me, I have to say that I like this version as much as I love the one with Tarja. I think Anette did a great job in this, really. I don't understand why they don't just take it down a key or something so that it sits more within Anette's vocal range and makes it easier for her to sing. You can see quite clearly that she simply does not have the range for this song especially at the end when she struggles to reach the high parts. This is a power metal song and it needs that really high range to work at all and slap people in the faces with its awesomeness. This kinda falls flat on its face without that element.

@nwcarmen If you read my comment well, I'm not remotely speaking good of Justin Bieber. I know this isn't the place. My point was, that selling albums doesn't necessarily make a band good (or necessarily bad either). In Nightwish's case, it only proves people have small brains because they couldn't handle an operatic voice and prefered a less dramatic one. It's something Nightwish always complained about, that they lost people just because they thought the operatic voice was "too much"

Nightwish had a perfect symbiosis with the vocals and the music, it was part of Nightwish identity. Annette is not a bad singer at all, but it lacks the passion and dramatism of the music. If anything, it just brings the band down. Even on live performances they have to bring it down so she can handle it. It's really a shame

A good symbolic is Amy Lee, she created Evanescence, makes the music for it, and sinks when it sinks.

I think it is very normal to discuss about the new singer. In my opinion there is no "better" singer because they are both so different you cannot compare them.
But, just for the old NW songs, Annette should leave that shit out. Her voice doesn´t fit in the songs perfectly made for Tarja. As well as Tarjas voice wouldn´t fit the songs perfectly accentuated for Annettes voice. For a fan it is horrible to hear how Annette has to force her voice in this song...

i would like nightwish not to do old songs. I know they were all composed by tuomas... but they are now a very different band.
I like new album, i like annette's "rock" voice. But in a lot of old songs, for what i can hear here in the net, she's out of tune. It's not tarja's fan fault (i've said this in another comment to another video) if annette's out of tune. In this concert she's out of tune in all old songs... Stop saying she's not. She's, it's a fact. Now you can dislike me but it is U_U

Although I know that a few Tarja-fanboys / girls maybe will flame me, I have to say that I like this version as much as I love the one with Tarja. I think Anette did a great job in this, really. AND I also like the way she screams some lines. This is just awesome (yes, some people have bleeding ears, I know, but I like it very much).
Btw, has anyone noticed that Tuomas plays from 3:10 - 3:23 the Dschingis Khan - Song "Moskau"? xD

I don't understand why they don't just take it down a key or something so that it sits more within Anette's vocal range and makes it easier for her to sing. You can see quite clearly that she simply does not have the range for this song especially at the end when she struggles to reach the high parts. This is a power metal song and it needs that really high range to work at all and slap people in the faces with its awesomeness. This kinda falls flat on its face without that element.

@nwcarmen and Justin Bieber sells more albums than the whole genre together. That doesn't prove anything. If anything, that Nightwish sold their souls for a more mainstream approach and it worked for them. They are techically, music whores.

@nwcarmen If you read my comment well, I'm not remotely speaking good of Justin Bieber. I know this isn't the place. My point was, that selling albums doesn't necessarily make a band good (or necessarily bad either). In Nightwish's case, it only proves people have small brains because they couldn't handle an operatic voice and prefered a less dramatic one. It's something Nightwish always complained about, that they lost people just because they thought the operatic voice was "too much"

People changes, from time to time bands are "in" or "out" and just because they keep doing music to keep themselves in the business does not mean they're music whores, just imagine, show some empathy . There's no LAW that says that Nightwish is necessarily a "Front operatic women - metal band" and that they can't change.

@nwcarmen and, "why does it matter?" well, the band wasn't just a really complex band with just some voice on top of it, which happens to the majority of the bands. Nightwish had a perfect symbiosis with the vocals and the music, it was part of Nightwish identity. Annette is not a bad singer at all, but it lacks the passion and dramatism of the music. If anything, it just brings the band down. Even on live performances they have to bring it down so she can handle it. It's really a shame

@FutileGrief It is a "complex" band because Tuomas did it that way, Tarja was just the "voice and face" as it happen' with the majority of bands as you said, she wasnt bringing any musical stuff to Nightwish nor created any of the songs or helped, she was just the type of singers you said, it was just pure luck and that tuomas doesnt like attention that she became as big as she was. A good symbolic is Amy Lee, she created Evanescence, makes the music for it, and sinks when it sinks.

I was very dissapointed when anette was brought into the band but espically when i heard her performe ghost love score in 2009 i understood how great voice she actully got!

I think it is very normal to discuss about the new singer. In my opinion there is no "better" singer because they are both so different you cannot compare them.
But, just for the old NW songs, Annette should leave that shit out. Her voice doesn´t fit in the songs perfectly made for Tarja. As well as Tarjas voice wouldn´t fit the songs perfectly accentuated for Annettes voice. For a fan it is horrible to hear how Annette has to force her voice in this song...

Esto era lo que la banda quería por eso el álbum ONCE tarja no cantaba tanta opera... igualmente esta banda va para el mismo camino que whitin temptation o bandas similares todas sus vocalistas son cantates POP o no han escuhado al nueva vos de tristania???... Nightwish deberia cantar sus nuevas canciones... anette quedaria mejor... y no dañaria los clasicos con su voz pop... aclaro no es una mala cantante...solo que estas canciones no fueron escritas para ella...

I never said Tarja wrote those songs. I've known Nightwish since they first came out and sorry, I know that Tuomas is the songwriter. Your comment has nothing to do with mine. Yep, it's true. Anette butchers all of old NW songs. They sound so bad with a pop voice. Not only that but she's never in tune, she's not a very good singer, and she can't hit the high notes. I have to say, Tuomas is an amazing musician, and he's never made a bad decision, up until he hired Anette. She's just so bad.

I dunno...She did it well. She can at least sing live. Which she did and did well in I would say most of the songs in this set.
Tarja was planning on leaving...so They needed someone else.

No worries. I mean...there will never be another Tarja. But lets face it. If this was an American band...they would have made every attempt to find someone who sounded exactly the way Tarja did.
They did not do that, and while Im not the biggest Annette fan, she is not horrible or a clone. She is doing her own thing.
She can't sing Nemo...which is my fave song of NW, but Im willing to overlook that, cause I cant think of many women in America or my country who could.
