All labs can dive... they just aren't expected to and people don't put them in situations where they need to very often. Labs will dive after fish and ducks, if they are in chase/retrieve mode.

it's a hunting dog... they are supposed to dive so they can get ducks and quail that have been shot over a lake or something... not that uncommon...

@cbender313 Except for the fact that water fowl (and birds in general) tend to float. They have hollow bone structures. After a time yes they probably sink but thats after weeks I am sure.

Very cool. My lab/golden mix does the same thing. He's dived 8' down to retrieve in a pool, and is the best ocean water dog I've seen. Check out Toby at Dog Beach on Youtube.

That's amazing!!! When I went to the ymca We saw a hole in the tennis court fence. So we tossed the ball in the hole and my dog was too chicken to go to the hole. He was about to go around and take the door. BTW, great video.
