  • how about a song about balancing chemical equations? :-)

  • great!

  • I love it!!!?!

  • @xylenol15 That's EXACTLY the thing that first caught my intention. The way the probability clouds are animated is brilliant.

  • ;D

  • Actually, it's believed "all of Earth's commercial diamond deposits were formed in the mantle and delivered to the surface by deep-source volcanic eruptions", not from coal.

On the other hand, I like how the atom animation captures the probabilistic nature of electron distributions.

    Nerd out.

  • Team up with other elements Making compounds when they combine Or make up a simple element Formed out of atoms of the one kind Come on, come on and meet the elements Check out the ones they call the elements Like a box of paints that are mixed to make every shade They either combine to make a chemical compound Or stand alone as they are

  • Cool song

  • Cool :D

  • Best song in the world!(:

  • this song is soooo MLG

  • Elephants are made of elements ^.^

  • this is ghetto.

  • can we not thumbs up a comment, what's up with that?

  • You make learning fun :D

  • This helped me get 100% in scince Thank

  • <3 love it

  • 8maliakal ftw

  • Love it

  • I <3 TMBG

  • i can make diamonds?

  • @powblocker i'm pretty sure itd take a lifetime (or something like that) for a diamond to form.

  • Fuck This Teacher!

  • I love, love, love, love this song. TMBG is the best!

  • Elephants are mostly made of Elements!!! :)

  • Ms. Williams: you got me on this one, but I like it.

  • ok the diamond would totally be bigger than the original coal right

  • @jaydude1216 Smaller. Since the coal has to be compressed and heated to almost an infinite point, the diamond produced would be infinitesimal compared to the Carbon at the beginning. That's another thing, coal is a compound by the time we deal with it, but pure carbon would be about like coal.

  • i love TMBG.

  • thumbs up if this should be viral

  • My favourite song now

  • My science teacher showed us this video at school because the people that made this channel re his friends from Uni.

  • i was just watching the duck song, how did i get here

  • The table is out of date. Ununbium is now Copernicium (Cn).

  • @dkscotland Of course it is! It was released 3 years ago!

  • This should be the theme song for Breaking Bad.

  • best science song ever, except for Strange Charm by Hank Green

  • They might be giants, the newest rock sub-genre, educational rock.

  • The most awesome science song in the history of science!!!

  • best science song ever!!

  • Chalk is not gypsum(CaSO4), but chalks(the thing you draw with) are not made of chalk, but gypsum.

  • It might be pizza.

  • Uup, or element 115, was able to create zombies in real life, but survived about 5 seconds.

  • @Telamon8 it would be great,seriously:)

  • I like the elephants part

  • 2:23 Is that by weight or by volume?

  • @forallpurposesonly By weight. You're mostly water; which by weight is mostly oxygen.

There is a little bit of oxygen elsewhere in your body(e.g. carbohydrates that you've eaten, bicarbonate ions that buffer blood pH, phospates in DNA and ATP, dioxyribose sugars in DNA and so on), but it's not a lot.

  • well this is a very great song!

  • great.. thanks for my chemistry presentation! (:

  • this is a verrry nicee chemistry song...i think it's the best cause it's the only one i've ever heard although i know they are more but cool!!

  • Love it!!!

  • Beryllium looks so adorable!!!!

  • @MrTobi48 XENON IS CUTER!!!!!

  • I showed this to my friend, and they love!

  • this song makes absolutly no sense to me and my science teacher yelled at me for explqining why this song is stupid and pointless. for example a 5 year old could have done the iillitrations and how does this song get from elements from elephants

  • @sportfanatic0 the whole song is self-explanitory if you actually listen to the lyrics. it's meant to teach kids hence the quite simplistic video as well.

  • @sportfanatic0 thats not fynny you noob shame on you

  • Ur teacher wants us to find this ur tesacher always plays songs during lessons to make us learn fast like symbiotic song camel song physical &Chemical Change d best 1 was physical changes song here are the lyrics Physical Changes 2x May look diff. in shape and size What you start with may look diff. but they are still the same in size tearing paper making snowballs crumbling cookies carving wood these are all forms of physical changes looking diff because thay shoud I love our teacher <3
  • @thechairsgirlsband Hahahah!! Talagang ginamit yung aacount the chairs :)) -Rocking Chair to

  • I <3 it!!! Its so funny.

  • best.nerdy.song.ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • reminds me of earlier today

  • I watchwd this in science and now ita atuck in my head :/

  • what is your science teachers name

  • We just saw this in are sience class today now I cant stop singing it lol

  • @Jman355367 lol we had to sing it in Sience yesterday xD

  • I'm addicted to this song

  • that was really cool and good! really helps to learn them!

  • If I were to ever become a science teacher, TMBG would be a regular part of class.

  • @SlightlyShinobi they r a big part in my science class lol

  • Chalk is CaCO3

    and not gypsum CaSO4

  • My science professor asked me to memorize the elements in a week

but after hearing this, I memorized it in a day and his face was so priceless during oral recitation

  • Tom Lehrer was great. They Might Be Giants are great. This is a They Might Be Giants video, and not a Tom Lehrer video. Therefore this timeless debate is misplaced. But Lehrer would be happy. After all, didn't he once say, "if after listening to one of my songs even one person is compelled to hit a loved one, or say a mean thing to a stranger, it will all have been worth it"?

  • I love TMBG. And they could never have made educational music/videos like this without the wonderful precedent of Sesame Street and The Electric Company.

  • Tom Lehrer has nothing on these guys.

  • @BowserTheSecond this is awesome too, but i must say, i prefer lehrer's song, because it's harder to know by heart ^^

  • and to my other point, dont smoke crack

  • Um... we're also mostly phosphorous.

  • @Leishmaniasisably I think we're more Calcium than we are Phosphorous :L

  • @AsyrilliathStudios After a bit of research, it would appear the first six most common and notable elements in the human body are Oxygen, Hydrogen, Carbon, Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Sulfur. They actually found a bacterium in Utah that can use arsenic instead of phosphorous. I find it strange what entertains me.

  • WHO EATS FRIES WITH A FORK?!?!?

  • @physcokitty101 Who uses a silver fork?

  • Comment removed

  • @Leishmaniasisably

Forks contain some amount of silver, unless you're talking about forks made of Carbon Hydrogen, but sometimes contain Oxygen, Nitrogen, Clorine, Sulfur.

  • @physcokitty101 i do, nth strange.

  • c'mon c'mon we need the elements :D

  • Compositions of the elements of the human body are: Oxygen 64.6% Carbon 18.0% Hydrogen 10.0% Nitrogen 3.1% Calcium 1.9% Phosphorus 1.1% Chlorine 0.40% Potassium 1.1% Sulfur 0.25%

     Sodium 0.11% Magnesium 0.03% Iron 0.005% Zinc 0.002% Copper 0.0004 Tin 0.0001% Manganese 0.0001% Iodine 0.0001%

  • @Telamon8 You dont have an idea about how hard we dont care

  • @Narutlex U mad?

  • watched it in science

  • Looool science class

  • This song helped me on my ASVAB.... no joke! :D

  • We wached this in science LOVED IT

  • We watched this in science class

  • @SoccerBeast107 Same weird...

  • My Science teacher showed us this today... I loved it so much that I looked it up again :D

  • Comment removed

  • This made my day :3

  • we watch it every time in science and it realy help me by learning the elements !!!

  • It might be pizza...

I don't want to eat there... what is it actually when its NO pizza..! O_o

  • I want to make a light bulb joke, but all of them Argon.

  • I wish my Chemistry teacher would play this in class one day.

But I don't think my fellow classmates would like it, they aren't very open-minded.

  • i was nervous to get to the chemistry unit for my seventh graders, but now i'm really excited just so i can show them this video

  • i showed this to my chem teacher. she thought i was immature

  • @nvanhart How rude of her!

Maybe she should retire soon because a teacher should be open minded about everything

  • @nvanhart That is really horrible...!

My teacher is a bit slow and boring, but he DOES watch YT in class. Only a shame that he's half deaf and only listens failing songs...

We (me and my friend) try convincing him every time to watch this, tough he keeps forgetting it...! D:

  • @BeylaKaythin @small0but0mighty haha shes a nice lady though its alright. but yah beyla gota just keep buggin him every day then!

  • @nvanhart Then your Chemistry teacher is a moron. LOL. This is great to help young kids to learn. You should never mock or discount things that can encourage and teach children. Im 33yrs old and I love this.

  • @Jeliah78 I absolutely agree with your love for this song and im 12... I even asked my science teacher to play this song but she said that it had nothing to do with oxidation when it clearly does hence the first words in the song

  • Thumbs up if science teacher sent you here

  • My teacher showed me this. It was cool. I want the lyrics. What are they

  • @Agreader3000 Iron is a metal, you see it every day Oxygen, eventually will make it rust away Carbon in its ordinary form is coal Crush it together and diamonds are born

Come on, come on and meet the elements May I introduce you to our friends, the elements? Like a box of paints that are mixed to make every shade They either combine to make a chemical compound Or stand alone as they areNeon's a gas that lights up the sign for a pizza place The coins that you pay with are copper, nickel and zinc

  • @Agreader3000 Silicon and oxygen make concrete bricks and glass Now add some gold and silver for some pizza place class

Come on, come on and meet the elements I think you should check out the ones they call the elements Like a box of paints that are mixed to make every shade They either combine to make a chemical compound Or stand alone as they are

Team up with other elements Making compounds when they combine Or make up a simple element Formed out of atoms of the one kind

  • This video made me 10% more clever than i was before :3

  • one of my favorite songs :D

  • My teacher showed us this. c:

  • i think some things should not be made into songs... they should just be what they are

  • that was sorta creepy

  • EPIC i watched this soooo many times and then sent it to all my friends

  • SHUT UP and listen

  • Me: What are nickles made of?

    Teacher: Nickle.

Me: Yea. what is it made of?

    Teacher: Nickle.

Me: fine dont tell me... I'll look it up myself .

  • @svenno0007 same here. it was so weird

  • @svenno0007 i feel sad for you :(

  • Mom: What did u learn in school today?

Me: I learned that Elephants are made up of mostly 4 elements (says that 50 tims)

Mom: forgive me for asking -_-

  • @shreena78 LOL YES!

  • @dbdiscobear XD

  • haha im in 10th grade and we had to watch this in biomedical science and I LOVE IT!!!!! :D

  • @NonnyGoop

ME TOO. except we're in hp chem! LOL gotta love these teachers:)

  • @skoobsevolaerdna hha wow these science teachers are going crazy!

  • "Like a box of paints that are mixed to make every shade." This has been stuck in my head all day!

  • @Empem8795 yeah, mine too!

  • at the end theres this lil thing. what is IT!!!!

  • This is awesome, gotta show my Physics teacher

  • Same here at school :/ loved the beat

  • you are made of 5 thing.

  • i got showed this in school today.. and i loved the fucking tune and had to look it up hahahah

  • This is how I spend my time studying for a chem test tomorrow lol. But this basically tells me everything I need to know about the elements...

  • The friggen elephants XD

  • Is it bad that I'm in Grade 12 and finding this amazing?

  • @TheJenBong No it's Natural I know a Few Seniors that fins this a bit amazing.

  • @TheJenBong I'm in 12th grade and taking a college level chem class and I still like this, mostly cause its TMBG

  • i like the OTHER STUFF.

  • Like this if your science teacher introduced this video to you

  • @justwatchairplanes u cant like on this vid...

  • @justwatchairplanes what if you introduced this to your science teacher?

  • press 1: DIAMONDS!!!!! (minecraft player plz leave thumbs up)

    press 2: sand

  • HaHa my teacher played this song over and over again and shes an english teacher!!

  • I was singing this the other day while stacking wood, it really helped me take my mind off the biting cold and the heavy wood. :) (and yes I stack wood, I live in friggin Maine)

  • So awesome

  • for some reason it feels like those songs where they replace the lyrics

  • my IPC teacher has been using this so we can learn our elements XD its working well

  • My science teacher played this when we had to sit in a sort of periodic table seating chart format, except we had to figure it out outselves.
