What an amazing and crucial moment for a soon to be brilliant scientist. Carl Sagan gave us so much more than we will ever see physically through his books and research. Enlightening students and people from all around the world on how to be good humans is the most important thing you can do when opening someones mind to science. People of religion take note, these are not Satan worshiping anarchists. They are human beings attempting to help us understand ourselves and the reality around us
im 1 of those students who is impulsively obsessed with the universe and its origins and capabilities, but im in a situation where I probably wont be able to do that.
Regardless of what your job is or what you are studying, you can always ponder the cosmos as a hobby. My major at college has absolutely nothing to do with the universe but I spend the majority of my small amount of free time reading as much as possible. If you are truly obsessed, you will find a way
Brings a tear to my eye. Thank you Carl, for having left us another inspiring person to pick up the torch and champion the pursuit of public understanding of cosmology and science.
This is beautiful :) Everyone should share this enthusiasm for the Universe, just so much to learn out there...

You didn't go to Cornell? After THAT! What did the other University do? Send round a few hookers?

@colinpscott That's exactly what I was wondering! If Carl Sagan was the professor of a cardboard box, that's where I would go to school.

Little did Carl know that random high school kid would grow up to host the second version of Carl Sagan's own series :D

Carl Sagan is amazing. Easily the best human being to have ever lived.

I wonder if Carl had any inkling that the kid he met would one day be filling his very large shoes? :-)
