@liebstandarteadolf You can do but not from good ones inclean water and are fresh, also your stomach acid will help kill the microbes etc. Just be wary if they come from areas with lots of heavy metals in the water.
NEVER hold the oyster in your hand to shuck. The muscle connecting the two shells together is closer to the seamless side opposite the hing. Alsways wipe both sides of the knife after the oyster "Pops" but before you shove it in to seperate the shells. He is holding the knife upside down. Knife angle or bend should be countour to the shape of the top shell. To each his own though. Nice presentation and clean oyster, good job.
Great concise lesson. One crucial tip to add though is that always make sure that the tip of the knife is pointed down and not sideways into the oyster. A great way to prevent injuries.
I do this at work...the first oyster i ever had 2 do was distoried!!!....every single oyster i did after that was successful...now i do 500 oysters at a time for a parties...and i still love shuking them
This is soo misleading...we looked at this and tryed to shuck the oysters....we ended up using a hammer...

If you eat it raw which we always seem to do, wouldn't you get parasites or other microbes that happens to be in that oyster?

Thanks for the video it helped. But the truth is I just used some old kitchen utensils that I had lying around to shuck mine, for the first time too!

This mother shucker should tell me how to get the shell bits out of the towel after a few dozen. And lime is superior to lemon in my opinion.

Wait, I thought there was supposed to be two tickets to that thing I like inside of that oyster. You should turn it into diamonds.

nice video.
don't really need a glove though.
