Its 2007 so he should be playing Halo 3. Why would they have him play Halo 2?

Because even now, in 2009 you can still actually play Halo 2? Even the original Halo AND NES games, also, in the beginning, he is playing Halo 3. And finally, it doesn't matter, just enjoy the show.

At 1:09 he says die Tartarus, but he was killed in Halo 2, and he's playing Halo 3, so Tartarus wouldn't make an appearance in Halo 3. I don't even think he's mentioned in the game.
