Sad and unnecessary! Poverty is created by governments borrowing from private banks at interest rather than the Bank of Canada. Debt has sky rocketted since 1974 when the policy started and the lions share is interest on interest. The Federal Gov't pays banks nearly $200 million each day (>5$ per person). Provinces add more. Look up: "money as debt 2" and "the-crime-of-the-canadian-banking-system" on youtube. You’ll be appalled, banker bonuses at the cost of taxpayers and children.
It is not a teacher's fault. Just like it is not the parent's fault. We live in an elitist society; a society that would rather blame victims than help them. The real issues are ignored, as it becomes easier to blame poverty on those that live in it and not on the government that won't implement the programs necessary to eradicate it. The fault lies in those that ignore the issues instead of acknowledging them. Its not up to teachers, or parents, but all of us to fight for what is right.
Our supporters include the Canadian Teachers Federation and the the Canadian Federation of Students. Poverty affects everyone, from families to the children of parents receiving insufficient benefits. 1 in 7 Canadian children lives in poverty! Check out our channel for clips from our documentary and follow us @PoorNoMoreFilm Hosted by Canadian actor Mary Walsh, we share solutions discovered in Europe--where housing is affordable and people love taxes!
So,let us all this year along with the UN-Stand Up &Take Action to fight against this never ending problem pf poverty.
This event will be held by the UN between 17 & 19th of October08 where they want general masses to participate in some form to fulfill the 8 goals of the MDG.
As a adult student (in my 30's at school, lived in poverty as a child and left school in grade 8) I recall writing a paper on childhood poverty in Cananda in the early 1990's. I can see once again our Federal Governments prioities are in order and promises are kept.........
Fantastic! Your video has inspired me, the facts truly are tradgic. I also enjoyed the song, yet, am not sure of the title or artist. If you, or anyone for that matter, knows, please inform me. Again, utterly inspiring! Thank you.

The way to get into an "ivy league" school is to be rich and have a "good attitude".
Actual aptitude has no bearing whatsoever... you could be a fully fledged retard and go to university as long as you're rich and a "good boy".

unfortuantly, poverty exist in every country, no matter how developed it is.

If teachers did their jobs properly there would be no poverty in Canada.

Nope... it's entirely the fault of the teachers.
And you haven't even touched on the problems "poor kids" face at school.

School should have no bearing on your family's income or situation... and it doesn't need to.
The reason this is the main factor(and not just a factor)... is entirely the fault of the teachers.
You could blame other factors... but it always comes back to the teacher.
As long as teachers have immunity from criticism this is always the way it will be.

Nobody wants to admit it, especially the government, because then they would have to do something about it.
