Yes!!! Scott Travis injected new life into Priest when they needed it and the result was Painkiller! Priest gave Scott Travis the paycheck he deserved as one of the great power-double-kick-stadium players. I saw Scott for the first time in summer 87 with Racer X. That was life-changing for me. I first saw Priest in 78 that was even more life changing!
I was looking for the definition of "Fuckin' ear ripping, heart boosting raw powered epicness" and I found the link of this video... Now I understand it very well!!!
Nico macbrain more techincal than Travis? Those people who say that don't know anything abot drumming. Scott is definitely more technical, I'd even say too technical, and Nico has more "feel" in his drumming that in some points Scott lack. This also proves, et Scott is metal drummer and Priest is metal band but Maiden is more like Rock, and that's true.
i laugh when people say that nicko from maiden is way better than travis , more techincal they say . this is the proove that they are completely wrong. btw nicko dont plays with double bass wich is much more easy
The thing that makes him impressive is he sounds like a double bass in some songs when its only a single pedal. Its all just opinion and I love both of them so whatever
He has said that he did in one song, which is Face In The Sand, I was really surprised when I found out that he doesn't use it at all! Excluding that one song.
He is a great drummer so Is Scott hard to compare 2 awesome British Metal bands.
After I watched his instructional video back in the day, I incorporated double bass ruffs into my playing. They sound so sick at the end of a double bass line.
He is a powerhouse with some chops, but if you want to listen to the man I believe to be the best of all drumming situations, no need to look further than the "Great Simon Phillips".
to answer a few questions - yes they did play metal meltdown live on this tour but usually played riding on the wind, yes the full video is easy to get, and its not a cd, its just a top-quality bootleg, and yes you can get many bootlegs on this tour but most are not very good quality. This video and them playing in Offenbach, Germany, are the two best I've found. In Offenbach they still play riding on the wind but I think the drum solo is better in Offenbach
I think u wont find metal meltdown live at youtube,... The only liveversion i know is the one at meltdown live... I think ill buy the CD soon so than i could give you the song
Go on the Racer X website and check out Scotts solo which is available as an mp3 download, if that doesn't impress, no other solo will. One of the best metal drummers alive and he's self taught :D
I agree that Neil is probably more skilled all round however Scott has mastered double bass and Neil frankly aint that good at that. Scott is a far better metal drummer than Neil could ever be however Neil is a God although i prefer Scott because i prefer metal music.
Seen rush 4 times and everytime the drum solo comes up it is crap... just a wall of effects... while peart is tapping a drum every now and again....He hasn't impressed me once..Not saying he's a rubbish drummer...just not as good as he's raved to be.

@worshippriest. Agreed: from a technical point of view, Scott Travis is superior to McBrain in every respect.
