  • I wager that, at times, the Painkiller Tour was a pain in the ass. Was it, Halford?

  • Yes!!! Scott Travis injected new life into Priest when they needed it and the result was Painkiller! Priest gave Scott Travis the paycheck he deserved as one of the great power-double-kick-stadium players. I saw Scott for the first time in summer 87 with Racer X. That was life-changing for me. I first saw Priest in 78 that was even more life changing!

  • The intro is blistering!!!!!!!

  • I'm going to se them at september 10th. GO BRAZIL!!!

  • I was looking for the definition of "Fuckin' ear ripping, heart boosting raw powered epicness" and I found the link of this video... Now I understand it very well!!!

  • WTH????THIS IS FUKIN GREAT!!!! :B

  • KK Downing rules!

  • I wanted Metal Meltdown... not just the intro

  • @WebSlingerZX i agree, there is only 1 audio bootleg with the song, and 1 short video with just the chorus (its a bootleg too)

  • THE BEST BAND OF ALL TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i will never see k.k playing even only the intro for metal meltdown :/ why the fuck he left judas?? :/

  • Downing Rulz!!!

  • @muso2007 he left judas :/

  • Meltdown intro for riding on the wind ? Strange

  • Judas Priest is the Best Painkiller! alive

  • Sorprendente (Amazing)

  • 7:31 and on-what's he saying?

  • @jjjxxx777

    riding on the wind

  • fantastic drum solo!!! another awesome performance by the best band ever....

  • Great performance, awful quality.

  • OMG , what a human machinegun! i love you Scott!

  • i love the guitar intro too metal meltdown

  • wow, the intro solos from metal meltdown sounds like the original.

  • damn that intro is amazing

  • There is no finer music in the world than Heavy Metal and no band better than Priest.

  • Guitar Intro Solo O-o....o_o.......oh my GOD!!!

  • freaking awesome

  • Scott Travis put the PAIN in painkiller...awesome!!!!!

  • it's a clear indication that they can play the 'metal meltdown' solo note for note, as it sounds just like the studio recording.

  • The drum solo sounded like Scarified! Scott Travis is too sick.

  • scott travis is one of the "masters of drums", his legacy in the metal is very visible and his undeniable influence

  • Awesome performance by the band! Really impressed by Scott!

  • scott is quite obviously more technical

who cant be technical after being in a band with paul gilbert?

  • Chinga este video si guta

    EHIDFIFE mybrute iphone

    PowerJudas MetalPriest

  • THIS IS THE BEST \m/

    Metal Gods

  • Pretty cool!

  • Nico macbrain more techincal than Travis? Those people who say that don't know anything abot drumming. Scott is definitely more technical, I'd even say too technical, and Nico has more "feel" in his drumming that in some points Scott lack. This also proves, et Scott is metal drummer and Priest is metal band but Maiden is more like Rock, and that's true.

  • u right

thats what i love about nicko he alwys uses different breaks

  • @worshippriest. Agreed: from a technical point of view, Scott Travis is superior to McBrain in every respect.

Maiden fanboys will claim otherwise, just like they will claim that Dave and Adrian are better than Petrucci, Malmsteen, Gilbert, etc.

  • my first priest concert at manchester apollo 21st march1991!!!!!!!

  • O_O

  • If anyone has a high quality copy of this concert (video or just the audio) please email me on my youtube account. I will trade.

  • i laugh when people say that nicko from maiden is way better than travis , more techincal they say . this is the proove that they are completely wrong. btw nicko dont plays with double bass wich is much more easy

  • The thing that makes him impressive is he sounds like a double bass in some songs when its only a single pedal. Its all just opinion and I love both of them so whatever

  • He has said that he did in one song, which is Face In The Sand, I was really surprised when I found out that he doesn't use it at all! Excluding that one song.

He is a great drummer so Is Scott hard to compare 2 awesome British Metal bands.

    Prefer Priest though.

  • does anybody know what kind of guitar kk is playin

  • its looks like a kramer but i may be wrong.

  • That's his custom Hamer "mini" Flying-V. That kinda ones he started using from Turbo.

  • MR. SCOTT TRAVIS!!!!

Oh yeah, he owned my face.

  • did anybody notice the guy's name? "Feet maniac?"

  • After I watched his instructional video back in the day, I incorporated double bass ruffs into my playing. They sound so sick at the end of a double bass line.

  • He is a powerhouse with some chops, but if you want to listen to the man I believe to be the best of all drumming situations, no need to look further than the "Great Simon Phillips".

  • Simon did an amazing job on Priest's 'Sin After Sin' album.

  • Haha, I was just waiting for Scarified to start when Scott started his solo.

  • souds a little bit similar to erick singer...... just alitte..... both are reeeally good.!! but travis is better

  • I love priest but damn they always had the weirdest guitar tone ever. Sounds like they are playing through a stereo or something.

  • is the best guitar tone ever

    you fuckin idiot

  • And since when was I cussing at you? Do you even play guitar?

  • noob, he play with double bass

  • Scott Travis did so much great things to the band, He defintley light years better than Dave Holland!

  • Amazing Performance, The Metal Gods are The Best!

  • to answer a few questions - yes they did play metal meltdown live on this tour but usually played riding on the wind, yes the full video is easy to get, and its not a cd, its just a top-quality bootleg, and yes you can get many bootlegs on this tour but most are not very good quality. This video and them playing in Offenbach, Germany, are the two best I've found. In Offenbach they still play riding on the wind but I think the drum solo is better in Offenbach

  • de tout facon c'est pas des doigts, qu'il a ces des tentacules, in english, he don't have fingers but tentacules=)))

  • and listen to this sound of the drums, like Thunder and lightning.Real HEAVY METAL SOUND.Not this shit of today !!!!

  • Precisely, this is so awesome, and played as flawless as the album versions. Heavy Metal ftw

  • At the Painkiller tour they made the best live performances of all time in the history of Priest !!!And this one here is incredible !!!

  • did they ever play Metal Metldown live with Halford?

  • good question man :S

  • they didn't

  • I'd like to hear One shot at glory live!

  • @turbomaximus1966 I'd like to hear the whole album played instead of British Steel!

  • @jonasbrosshalldie exactly

  • @jonasbrosshalldie yea...me 2!!!

  • INCREDIBLE the combination of Metal Meltdown and Riding on the Wind, but the best of this video is the solo of Scott!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so great this video

  • Did someone notice that the end is like Me-tal Melt-down, but here it is Ri-ding On The..?

  • I like his drumset. Those cymbals hanging.

  • Wicked!!!

  • i need a live version oof metal meltdown any youtube links.

  • I think u wont find metal meltdown live at youtube,... The only liveversion i know is the one at meltdown live... I think ill buy the CD soon so than i could give you the song

    the painhunter

That's where I found my 'Rocka Rolla' album. Got 'Sad Wings...' at Best Buy.

  • i live in queensland AUS so i dont think i dont have any of those stores. my best bet is probly jb hi fi o mosh pit music thanks though

  • can't you find torrent? There is a great one with whole discography + some bonus stuff

  • havent look for the torrent. but i figered they would have a cd out

  • Awesome Song

  • love this song.. totally love it!!

  • A lot of Racer X over that drumsolo! Great.

  • This is the real JUDAS PRIEST Sound man !!!!!

  • oouh yeah scott has done it hes my mentor ^^

    SCOTT YOU RULZ !!

  • OMG thats solo's of metal meltdown :o

    excellent judas priest '''

    forever metal rules''

  • what is this dvd/vhs/bootleg?

  • its cool how Tipton makes that intro sound better live than on the album haha.!

  • rob halford is kickin ass !!!

  • Go on the Racer X website and check out Scotts solo which is available as an mp3 download, if that doesn't impress, no other solo will. One of the best metal drummers alive and he's self taught :D

  • I agree that Neil is probably more skilled all round however Scott has mastered double bass and Neil frankly aint that good at that. Scott is a far better metal drummer than Neil could ever be however Neil is a God although i prefer Scott because i prefer metal music.

  • thats the stupidest thing you can say. of course Peart is better!!! You cant compare him to a guy in a metal band. Maybe danny carrey from tool.

  • Seen rush 4 times and everytime the drum solo comes up it is crap... just a wall of effects... while peart is tapping a drum every now and again....He hasn't impressed me once..Not saying he's a rubbish drummer...just not as good as he's raved to be.

  • You are flippin' nuts dude! I've been playing drums for 30+ years and ave played with some of the best players ever. And you have heard of all of them. You are entitled to your opinion though. I just hope you don't think the new guys like Mike Portnoy and dudes like him are better. They're not and they will tell you so. You gave your opinion and I gave mine...

  • too bad they didnt do the classic "riding on the wind pose", I believe only true JP fans know what i'm talking about :D

  • Scotts sounds a lot better live, compare his intro on Rising in the East to the one on Live Vengeance and tell me if Dave's is better :D, There was a lot of work done in the Studio to enhance the drum sound on the intro to get it sounding like it did on the album and there is no way you can obtain that same sound live unless triggers or something else were used.

  • Never woulda heard that kinda drum solo out of Dave Holland.

  • we used to call holland the Scrub man back in high school!!!lolol

  • The best drum solo I've ever heard. Scott is the best, end of discussion.

  • its better in concert

  • knew this was a damn awesome video 5 sec into it

  • I can't understand one thing. This is not bootleg, so, somebody was recording this for real. So, where the hell are those records!?? We should have them all!!! Not to search and have an orgasm! We want more PriesT!!

  • Maybe, it is a VHS-record....I guess there was one record on VHS with this concert.

Great performance!! I love it!! The Intro is awesome and the end brutal!!!!

And nice drum solo from Scott^^ =)

  • There is a vid. you can find of it...

They decided not to release it to the public, cos it wasn't what they were expecting...

Anyways, I have this whole vid. on DVD.

Got it off of eBay. :)

    It is awesome.

AND! -- There are vids of this concert from Detroit on YouTube.

  • i luv this song... hell yeah!!!

  • that was psycho

  • Scott and Les binks rules. Definetely the best drummers Judas Priest had over the years !

  • why judas priest didn´t play drum solos anymore??? :(

  • that was soooooooo great!!! long live judas priest.. i still like his voice, think there's nothing wrong with it

  • omg i think i just got a orgasm in the begging

  • jp fans unite!!!!!!!metal health rocks on!!!!!

  • awesome

  • quietus5 you are a really son of bitch. FUCK OFF bow down to the kings of metal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You can hear bits of racer x's scarified in the drum solo.

  • holy christ his voice is awful! still there is no replacing his charisma and imigination

  • i wudnt say his voice is awful on this, its just not perfect, his voice was really in its prime mid 80s, round turbo time

  • yeah fuck metallica

  • what?

  • ill second that

  • It's hard to believe Metallica was once a metal band. And an awsome one at that.

  • yeah, what a bunch of sissies now

  • thats a great drum solo.. and the song is so fucking good...and the intro from metal meltdown is kickass, anyway this is one of the best bands of heavy metal!

  • Best Band Ever

  • this fucking solo inspired so many people

    hail the metal gods!!!

  • MANSO TEMA CONCHETU MAIDEN!

  • HAIL TO THE PRIEST!!!!!!

  • This is a bad ass song. First time I saw it was from the 82 footage from the VHS tape. Only JP fans and Metalheads would know this one. The epitamy of Heavy Metal. Scott Travis could not have come at a better time.

  • Scott Travis COULD'VE come at a better time: right after TURBO.

  • This is a bad ass song. First time I saw it was from the 82 footage from the VHS tape. Only JP fans and Metalheads would know this one. The epitamy of Heavy Metal. Scott Travis could not have come at a better time.

  • ALL HAIL THE PRIEST!

  • I would like they play Metal Meltdown completely the next tour, the intro and the song are awesome!

  • wowowowow

  • thats a Jesture he was doing since the eightees, that had nothing to do with the voice, even with the Halford band. Looks fuckin Metal to me

  • why does he only look into the ground on these concerts on painkiller tour?

  • I think he look to the ground to get the hi pitchs. I saw judas priest on angel of retrebution, and Halford in is solo carrer...and every time he make a Hi note, he looked to the ground.

  • he didnt before Painkiller :P haha

  • because he had problems with high-singing.

  • This is my favorite Priest song.

  • Anyone knows how to get fotage of that tour? It's the sole thing I have left to get from the Priest, and I loved Painkiller... It's a shame that tour has pretty much fallen in oblivion

  • love the drum solo

  • So who is the best: Scott Travis or Mike Terrana?

  • This metal meltdown intro is too cool to be true!!!

  • Thy best part I have ever seen

  • that guitar intro for metal meltdown, while a little sloppy, even on the album, is still bad ass.

  • best JP album ever

  • The best with defender of the faith and angel of retribution!!!

  • Kick ass!!!

  • This show was filmed was professionally. I've seen it the whole thing. They were gonna release it on DVD, but Rob sang so shitty on this show, that I guess they didn't wanna embaress themselfs putting out shit that people gonna laugh at.

  • Yeah it's too much! I prefer a lot my bootleg from Toronto 1990, they played full metal meltdonw and not riding on the wind and also between the hammer and the anvil!

  • it's true??? you have a version with the full metal meltdown???? why don't you post it????

  • i dont think it was bad he just screwed up 2 parts that i guess make it sub par for a priest show. one of em was just coming in late

  • mal

  • Scott Travis' drum fills sound like farts! Nothing out of this world, just double bass drum noise. Sorry :)

  • IMO tho scott travis made judas priest sound a hell of alot tighter and better. no disrespect to dave holland but he isnt as crisp or tight as scott

  • This is their best intro to a song ever!!!!

What a fucking solo from both of KK and Glenn! I can't stop listinning to it!!!

  • thats fucking insane

  • judas priest is the best band in the fu**ing world!!!!

  • man the solos were tighter back then...Glenn seems a little sloppy nowadays on the rising in the east DVD..but I could be wrong as I've only watched it once

  • Maybe in eBay, it's not an official DVD.

  • there is a dvd of this show!!where?!

  • in my mind!! I was in Paris at that time, Bercy, for the Painkiller Tour, PUTAIN C'ETAIT BON!!!

  • chanceux

  • fucking awesome!

i have the full discography of the Metal Gods on their original cds. Damn this guys are 2 goode!

  • i love the priest man but i dont know

halford kind of started losing his natural singing vox around this era. I mean, this song is meant to be sung in a grinding voice, when he sings it here he loses control and just sings way to high.

god bless Rob HAlford and his legendary singing

have you all reallised that thers only one major metal idol from my state? Scott Travis from Virginia bitches ive met him before he was even in preist, he worked at the mars music i go to. He fucking rocks it

  • Ripper was way better

  • what the hell are you talking about, when he started singing this song in 82' it sounded to rough when hes holdinng the notes, doesn't go as well, this sounds better like this

  • he lost his natural singing vox during this era?? have you heard halfords resurrection solo album that came out in 2000?? Or the live halford solo album that came out in 2001?? His voice is perfect on those albums.

  • LLLLOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEEE Judas Priest

  • does anybody have painkiller from this tour

  • I also have this one:
