@jmac217x 1) Why should Microsoft release their source code? If they don't want to reveal some of the coding, they have that right.

2) The Secure Booting is a perfectly fine idea, you can adjust the setting if you like to allow a new OS but it's there primarily to stop un-trusted Operating Systems, which is a good idea.

3) Linux is just an operating system. It doesn't have a best-selling games console or a phone or a load of other companies to it's name. It wont rule the world.

@Wireheadking Secure boot will NOT be able to turnoff and install a new os. Secure boot is based on the OEM's firmware which is a physical chip on the laptop itself. If someone were able to turn it off then viruses can do the same thing, therefore defeating the purpose. The only way to work around this is to custom build your computer, or buy a mac (im not being a fanboy right now, just saying macs will not come with that windows sticker meaning they wont have that firmware chip.)

Why didn't they take their Hartman interface from Meego and put it on top of Android and have an ecosystem with 300,000 apps rather than throw years of work out of the window (pun intended :D) and take a gamble with WP7 and all of its restrictions. Obviously Elop put his loyalties to Microsoft before the success of Nokia, WP7 is sinking and Elop is sacrificing Nokia in an attempt to save WP7 IMHO.

Windows Phone looks nice and simple and very smooth. I've read some tweets about Windows Phone and dual core, LTE and higher screen resolutions. Those are some things I'm looking forward to. Metro UI is very nice =)
