I feel a bit sad watching this trailer.. One of the original Dwarves had a yellow beard, another blue. And a couple in the beginning look human not Dwarfin!

This should be the prequel of all prequels! i have been a fan of Tolkein since i was 12 when i read all the LOTR books including it's prequel and grew up with the cartoons including Rankin-Bass's adaptation but this adaptation should kick ass.

That short section of the music you hear at the end is so well placed, for me that music just symbolises everything about the ring, it's also played when Isildur loses it. It's just so nostalgic; i love the fact that they did lotr before this because it explains the importance of what would otherwise be a film about a,still brilliant, but random adventure of a hobbit. Now people are going to fully appreciate the Hobbit for what it is,probably the most important series of events in tolkiens world

What do you expect? people are expecting the film that will be the prequel of all prequels from Jackson. Afterall he did took Tolkein's nearly unfilmable book trilogy and made 3 brilliant masterpieces out of them as they stayed true to Tolkein's vision and so will this 2 part epic. Afterall we had 3 great prequels last year like Rise of the Apes, The Thing 2011 and X-Men First Classic, this and prometheus should rock

48 FPS LOOKS AMAZING! Great choice Pete! not to the point where it's too fake-60fps, yes I know that's what we see with our eyes, but to see it in a theatrical sense, 60fps is too smooth. Where 48fps captures the cinematic feel of 24fps while capturing that little bit more so you can see the little things (smoke-food in the air-REAL plates flying on the table-the movement in someone's lips & checks when they speak-the flow of water-hair in the wind) 48 could be da best choice when upgrading fps

@TheColfud yeah for some odd reason, 60 FPS gives it this feel that we're watching a reality show rather than a movie. I don't know who discovered 24 FPS, but Peter discovered 48 FPS, adding to his title of "A Legend" XD

@Frozone470 60 FPS is what our eyes see, that is why video games are 60fps, quicker response & why James Cameron wants to only do 60fps- more real. Problem is the 24 & 48 allow the footage to come across as still cinematic and not "soap opera or reality show" watch a movie on a 240hz tv, the movie is pushed to 60fps and looks horrible. 24fps came from the zoetrope machine- the little thing you spin and watch a horse run in a circle. Ever since, we've just used 24fps for movies.
