  • microsoft might want to buy google but then it will be ruined

  • I find it funny that Bill scoffs at gTalk, then recently buys Skype to compete. Hah.

Second thing he doesn't grasp is that Google Apps are significantly cheaper than his own - and the "responsiveness" he talks about? Yeah, MS products are not so good at that.

  • Yeah Bill like WindowsMe and Vista. You know the old saying, screw me once... Thanks for converting me to Linux/ Mac.

  • he doesn't have a clue

  • One of the very few times Bill gets it all wrong.

  • I think Bill is right... I also am not using Windows anymore, I use Linux. Have done that for some years now. And I mean... Chromium is quite close to that. So why not try that?

I do not remember anymore how Windows works anyways...

  • I remember this conference. As an employee, we were not allowed into the main hall during this discussion to leave room for attendees. Bummer.

  • bill gates is a total hero

    microsoft is abhorant

google is awesome and will utterly clean microsoft's clock

microsoft will go the way of other huge legacy corps like it's predecessor ibm

they're too massive to go away, but their dominance will vanish

  • Bill Gates, Oprah, Ted Turner and George Soros are part of the Good Club wanting to cap world’s population at 8.5 Billion.

John Holdren is Obama's appointed Science Czar. Like all Czars, they were not approved by the Senate, which is unconstitutional. He advocated in his book "Ecoscience", sterilization of the human population by adding a sterilization drug to the food and water supply and the government taking babies away from single mom's. GOOGLE “zombietime john holdren” and click on link.

  • @Gracelandification Czars are only advisers, they have no executive power hence no need for senate approval.

  • @jasonsadventure IBM is still the top enterprise hardware company with a market cap larger than Microsoft's but their dominance is gone. I think it will be good for all when apple, google, and microsoft are just industry leaders and not the dominators they are now. That always makes room for some new little guys to move in.

  • @jaggyballs bro, the top market caps are (as of May 2010)

    1. Exxon at $284B

    2. Apple at $234B

    3. Microsoft at $226B

    ...

    13. IBM at $161B

    ...

    17 Google at $155B

And check-it bro, IBM has undergone a massive shift away from enterprise hardware. In their 2011 first quarter report only $4B of their $24.6B in revenue was from hardware, while services had a backlog of $142billion making them smaller enterprise players than Oracle, HP, Apple, Intel & Cisco.

  • I love how this same guy also though that there wasn't any money to be had in operating systems (DOS was originally QDOS(quick and dirty operating system) and was made by someone else. He bought it from them when he was hired to make an OS) and that the internet wasn't going anywhere

  • Bill, please help Microsoft, stay at your foundation. Obviously you have no clue where the industry is going.

But that's good news for Google, its major competitor didn't understood the web applications by 2008.

I bet in 10 years MS & Google will have exchanged their market shares in productivity tools. MS Office will be a high end product, à la Apple.

  • We use Google Apps, specially the DOCs in a school with members worldwide, working at the same time on some documents and it works amazingly well... cost absolutely nothing, you have to install absolutely nothing and you can access it from Android and IPhone and more important IT WORKS... with no issues at all, does anything from Microsoft ever worked?.... Bill give me a brake... same stupid comments as when the Vice-President of your company laughed loudly about the iPhone when it was launched

  • True, google apps are crap ATM. But they'll get better/faster over time, will MS products ever become free tho? Don't think so...

  • i see his point but i have to say that what makes Google apps so great is when Google apps cant die because they're open and when they are discontinued the source goes into making a better version, unlike when Microsoft's products die and become completely irrelevant. Heres a thought bill, when a product dies open it up you can always take the source back and make it proprietary agian

  • I use GTalk about 30 times a day. It is my main phone and a way I stay connected with friends and coworkers.

  • no offense but there is absolutely no way google can buy Microsoft. In fact, if you think about it, Microsoft operating systems that came with google as a home page with there IE made google famous and the most successful search engine.

  • yeah right Bill...I am sure google has no idea what they are doing -- is that why MS is scrambling to copy Google's every move?

  • What a joke. I just setup Google apps for a small business and the results were a complete success. Google Apps RULES! Bill Gates looks really ridiculousness here as criticizes Google. Its like a skunk trying to make fun of a minks. Microsoft, forget it. You lost the business AND END USER MARKET. Why does Google Apps better than MS Exchange and Share point, BECAUSE IT WORK!

  • @ronpasa69 I'm a fan of Apps too, but FYI...this is an OLD video. MS obviously now understands that web-based apps services are the future. MS is already trying to catch up to Google with their own set of web-based tools.

  • Gates is saying the truth... "the day they announced them was thier best day..."

  • @80amnesia Exactly! Google Wave, anyone? anyone? hello...is this mic working? anyone? please? C'mon! It's Google Wave and it will change the world! [crickets chirping]

  • gtalk???? Bill... why don't you just shut up???

Gtalk is so nice to work with....

  • come on... listen to him... done? now you shouldn't care about ... just laugh yourself out loud....

  • i'm going to laugh when google buys microsoft and makes it free

  • Um they would have to PAY ME to make me use vista, used it for a month, emotional depressed ever since =D

  • @mbturner625 Google buying MS???? wishful thinking..

  • He's absolutely right, google spends more time making new applications than they do improving on the apps they already have.

This being said, i do like a few of their apps, chrome being one(using it now), however the moment firefox can match or exceed chrome, it will be lost and forgotten, just like google talk.

  • @whiteguysamurai "it will be lost and forgotten, just like google talk."

In what way is Gtalk lost and forgotten? Sources? Supporting evidence?

  • @whiteguysamurai a better example would be orkut, probably.

  • douche

  • suprised some one who is worth 50 billion would be so bitchy about a company worth only 3 billion

  • that what theyre on abut when microsoft dont know when theyve got to the top, they just keep attacking everyone else when theyre at the top

  • i love google talk bill gates has a proper rip at google lol

  • It's *GOOGlE TALK* and it's amazing like AIM only AIM has adds on it and google talk has nothing but your friends not preset companys (not that i don't like AIM u can customize beter there)

  • ....why do he hate us ?
