Bankruptcy can't come too soon for this joker and his co. A simple phone call to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, the largest no-kill shelter in the States (they took in all Michael Vicks dogs) and they would have sent a tractor trailer to pick them up rather than see them indiscriminately slaughtered.
ESPN reported that they offered to sell them to competing dogsled companies, and then began the slaughter afterwards. Perhaps they should have offered them for free. No souls, I guess.
This company's owner is admits that he has NO qualms with killing dogs regularly, only the manner in which they were executed.
I'm sure if people knew these dogs will be euthanized (humanely or not) after they pass their sleigh pulling prime they would not suport them. These are animals, not worn tires.
Anyone who believes that 100 of his dogs suddenly get old and sick enough to be euthenized - ALL AT THE SAME TIME is an idiot - You full well knew Joey Houssian!!
Outdoor Adventures Whistler - they are under investigation for the brutal murder of 100 sled dogs in April 2010, after the Olympics. Go see facebook page: Boycott Outdoor Adventures Whistler, just put that in the search box. Please support this group. You can find other sled dog companies in BC, just don't use this business.
As owner of the company, don't just assume things, you must check on them as it is your job. You said you thought at least 50 dogs would be euthanized humanely, but you can't just think things. You must be sure; supervise them cause whatever happens to your company will affect it & what people think about you Those dogs were healthy considering they exercised by running and pulling sleds, you also have to check that they are not in their best conditions when put in line to be euthanized.
