always use 1% two stroke oil in your fuel to prevent engine and fuel system wear and corrosion caused by modern E10 Eco Fuel! Its just too dry and aggressive to your engine and pump and tank materials. 2 Stroke oil neutralizes the acid in the modern eco-fuel.
Very nice!! Brother has a 91 Dakota 4-by with a rebuilt 318 thats not the fastest in the world but it will pull a brick shithouse off its foundation and uphill with ease...
Yea, for being a "grocery getter" engine back in the day, you can really do some amazing things with 318s. That all I ran in my Charger until we put a 440 in last fall. The 318 won its fair share of races back in the day, I even kept up with a Mustang Cobra one night :) I never had any serious engine problems with a 318, but I ate a few trannys before I learned downshifting with the gearshift was bad for them, unless you have the proper shift kit in it! I have drag vids of it on my channel :))
@ChargerMiles007 I have one (318) and would like to restore it, It is very sentimental. It went to my first Truck I ever had, that being the first vehicle. It went to a 86 Dodge Power Ram. After 500,000 and two trees, the body was trashed, and there was a lot of rust. I love that truck and I would like to find one of the same trucks to build up. Do you know how much it would cost to rebuild the ol 318?
Well, if you do an overbore, new pistons etc. I would think you would be in for about $1000, but you would have to shop around, check out Summit and Jegs mail order shops, as they have some good deals on rebuild kits etc. I rebuilt the Charger 318 back in the 80s and put 50,000 on it, then it sat for 15 years, we ran it a few minutes, then tore it apart, put in new bearings, checked the cylinders etc., made some mods, and it has ran like a top! :))
make mee want to keep my van it also have a 318 4.2. litre, but want to make it an off road van so i can play muddin and explore the woods nearby...and my atvs, i hear the 318 are tough engines
@greezeyD well you aint gonna have to squeeze a 318 in it just about any stock small block exhaust manifolds will work theres tons of room under the hood of those cars ive got a 68 dodge polara with a 318 in it with at least 10 inches on either side of the block to the inner fender wells. but that hole is gettin filled by a 440 big block soon i hope but im makin a tube chassis car out of it cuz nobody races C bodies any more heck most people dont even know what a polara is.
@prostreetpolara i have a 1965 polara with a 383 ...people all the time ask me.."what kind of car is that?".. i say its a polara and they say "a what?"
@moparguy318 haha yeah i say i have a 68 dodge and everybody ask if its a charger and i say no its a polara and there always like huh... but thats why im makin a race car out of it cuz i get so tired of going to the strip and seeing the same ole mustangs and camaros other lil cars i wanna make em say what was that big ole car right yonder when i drive buy with 1000 horses screamin under the hood but its kinda hereditary dad raced a prostreet 65 chrysler newyorker with a 413 in it that would fly!

i prefer the sound of a 428 ford but this actaully sounds pretty good
GundamKnight07 1 year ago
@GundamKnight07 lol well sure, that 428 is a big block, they just sound meaner anyhow. But that 428 will never run as long as a 318.
