  • dude thats amazing great work!

  • OMG a homemade NEPTUNE !

  • any chance of doing a step by guide?

  • I probably overlooked, but when you were handling the boards, were you ESD grounded? Anyways, I want one and I want you to send me one. now. Take my monies and build me one. :) In all seriousness, it's good to have one unit that covers all three, now you just need a way to play SMS games, since the 32x break the base converter compatibility. (Anyone know of a fix?)

  • @kodan50 No ESD grounding. My workshop has a concrete floor and higher humidity...never had a problem with electrostatic discharge.

There may be a way to play sms games by bypassing the 32X (and going directly to the Genesis cartridge solder points)...not 100% sure though.

  • @thomas3120 I know that, as long as the 32x is plugged into the Genesis, it will not load SMS games because the chips that run SMS games are disabled. Something to do with address space, or something. It will definitely change how it looks, but you can add a second port for SMS games only, and a button that presses when a game is inserted, that will cut the power to the 32x, so that the Genny won't see it when it turns on. Or just omit SMS support and forget I brought it up. ^_^

  • ERES UN MAESTRO ,SUPER,NICE.VERY VEY COOL

  • @wily1972 Muchas gracias :)

  • edt1138 sent me, and HOLY SHIT I want one!!

  • @TheSegaStoner Thanks :)

  • That is really cool man, I am pretty impressed.

  • @edt1138 Thanks Ed! :)

  • Holy shit man, that's spectacular. I found your video because I'm researching a project I'm thinking about doing which would put a 32x inside of a model 1 or 2 Genesis case. This looks a little too difficult for me right now, but it's definitely inspirational. Awesome work!

  • @MuscIeBound ahh a Neptune? cool :) do a video of it, would like to see it.

  • :D muito bom

  • @MrJazzCHJP Obrigado :)

  • hey thomas i´m in the process of doing kind of the same thing of you but less ambition lol im adding a md2 board on a saturn case. i will be doing the crystal clear audio mod to it. but i have a question: how did you mounted the 32x flaps on the cart slot. i will be using the md flaps on it but i don´t know the way to mounted, so if you could say how to do it i will appreciated a lot =)

    thanks =)

  • Very nicely done mate looks great

  • @brettscotland Thanks Brett! :)

  • Very nice man! You said you thought of using the Saturn internal power board, but it only outputs 5V right? I'm thinking of using to build a neptune myself, but I guess I'll be needing 10V and at least 2A

  • @araujojr82 Thanks! Yeah, the Saturns P/S was just a bit too big to fit (at least for me). There maybe a point on the ps to get 9-12V? ...never looked in to it as I found a better replacement.

  • This is pretty cool. Honestly, I love the idea of using a shell from a Saturn for the project, that was quite clever. :)

  • @bawkbagawkisback Thanks! :)

  • Sega Fusion is a emulator name that runs sega genesis sega cd game gear master system 32x games so i think i know were he got the name from : D

  • @CrAzY3AGL3 A youtube friend here suggested it, I liked it so I used it ;)

  • dude this turned out pretty sweet

  • @AlphaOmegaSin Thanks man! appreciate it :)

  • @thomas3120 No problem, the idea of having everything all in one would be nice. Closest I can get is a 32X and a Sega Saturn side by side lol

  • And now the world is better for it. =D

You're the man, Thomas. How in the world did I miss this, even in sega-16?

I admire that you didn't go for a CDX; it showed, both, extra skill and extra love for the Genny.

    Keep rocking dude.

  • @QuickSciFi Thanks Carlos! :) I'm sure it can be made better. Yeah didn't go with a CDX because..don't have one and if I did I wouldn't use it :)

Also, probably better to use a Model 1 Genny instead

  • Sooo Epic man. If you sold these I would buy one thats for sure. What crazy combo are you thinking of doing next... nex/snes/n64 maybe ;)

  • @hessrf1981 Thanks :) Don't know yet...I have been neglecting Nintendo for a while :/

  • New update. Will try to incorporate a power base converter into my project as well later on in the build. Still waiting on my stuff to arrive. There will be videos on it so check out my channel from time to time to see if I started yet. Will make a bulletin when I do start it.

  • I will be doing the same thing for my system with some added changes and functions. Will have 3 slots wired up to the 32X for booting a standard cart, a Mega Everdrive flash cart when they come out, and some BRAM for the CD drive. Will have a switch to select between the 3 wired to the power and ground for each slot. Plan on overclocking, region mods, audio mods, and having component video out. May have a few other small things in there I'll come up with along the way. Need a Saturn case.

  • @MegaSonicdude10 Just sent you a pm. That's awesome :) will you be doing a video of your progress or results?

  • you did a good job but why did't you use a cdx if you wanted to save room.

  • @burnhash111 Yeah, you could use the CDX and it would be a lot easier to fit but they seem harder to find and more expensive. I wouldn't mind just having a CDX though

  • Amazing work! Do you sell the Sega Fusion? Also, is it possible to still add the Sega Master System, Saturn and Dreamcast to the Fusion and create the ultimate all-in-one Sega console?

  • @arioca Thanks :) No, it's just a lot of work and time unfortunately :/ If I could find a case that's just a bit bigger would help. Also different system combinations can work great or not so great.

  • Awesome job! Great mod.

Would it have been easier to mod the 32X and the SEGA CDX together into the Saturn case?

I was looking into doing a project exactly like this awhile ago, before getting sidetracked on a few DC arcade cabs. But my mod was going to be of the 32X and the CDX all packed into a Dreamcast's small case.

Thanks for the vid. Now you've motivated me into making that 32X/CDX/DC project.

  • @SwankeyMonkey thanks :) yeah you can use the CDX and would be easier.

Awesome, looking foward to seeing your project :)

  • Wow, major kudos to you man. You have some serious modding skills right there. Subscribing thanks for showing off such an awesome machine.

  • dude thars awesome ....just awesome you should do a giveaway again and this should be the prize and i should win it .....lol great job man!!!!!!

  • You, sir, are a mod genius! Amazing job!

  • This a beautiful piece of heaven <3 i want one.

  • hmm could you make more of these for those who requested?

  • @WorthyouruniverseHD Atm, no :/ I usually play around with it for a good bit and make sure nothing breaks. I just added an RGB port in the back, so still kind of refining things lol. Also, hacking the Saturn case (the CD door) took a while to finish. I wouldn't mind finding a case that's just a little bigger to make things easier.

  • what kind of power supply did you used thomas to power all machines?

  • @segajcharrua hmm, it's been a while. Think it was from a laptop. Just took the black plastic case off, took off the pc style power connector and soldered my own wires to it. Output is 12VDC 3A

  • yea the Bram was the memory on the Sega CD. I've had that problem in the past with Sega CD consoles. This was an amazing project I know you've worked on it for a long time and have been kicking the idea around in your head. I'm glad that you finally got it done!

  • @GeekerDays Ahh thanks John :) Is it memory on the SCD mainboard itself or the SCD memory cartridge you could buy?

  • @thomas3120

From what I know of the SCD it's on the mainboard itself because I've never seen any SCD Memory Cartridges or Cards.

  • @GeekerDays Backup Ram carts do exist. His battery in the motherboard to save data internally is probably dead then.

  • @arnoldthebartender

That's another possibility too. I never heard of Backup Ram Carts existing so I learn something everyday :)

  • @GeekerDays Yeah, those things are so useful, especially if you're a hoarder like me and want to transfer data between multiple Sega CD's. I got my BRAM cart off eBay though it was in the box but I did get it for a decent price of around $40. They usually go for less for just the cart but people have been price gouging these days so the prices are kinda high.

  • thats awesome

  • @pookninja3 Thanks :)

  • Can it play Virtua Racing??

  • @MarioMania05 Won't work with the Genesis version of VR probably because the svp chip in the cart? But Virtua Racing Deluxe for 32X will work.

  • Can it play Virtua Racing??

  • Can it play Virtua Racing??

  • A Neptune CD? Sick mod, surprised this doesn't have more views. Does the Power Base Converter still work with it (Don't know if you mentioned it in the vid), still have to keep the SMS compatibility! XD

  • @BigCj345 Thanks :) Ahh, not worried about views. There is a way to make it sms compatible, but a bit more work involved.

  • Comment removed

  • i think its so cool you picked fusion thanks thomas for saying my name on the video the sega fusion is so bad ass 3 machines in one and the best part one power cord awsome im sure sega fans would love to have that for chirstmas you sir awsome :) you take so much time and effort on buliding your projects its so cool man great job Thomas take care

  • @kevinsvideogameworld Np Kevin :)

  • This is an amazing project and a labor of love. I would love one of these systems. The knowledge and skill required is very impressive. Best wishes.

  • @MrKitJ32 Thanks MrKit :) it was also a bit of a pain at times hehe ;)

  • @MrLoneWolf33 That's awesome man! Never got to play on the Sega channel (it was the Sega net?). How was it?

  • Awesome!

  • @oldatarigamer Thanks :)

  • That's some amazing work!!!

  • @inzo464 Thanks Inzo! :)

  • as soon as I saw it I instant favorited. you need to start putting this thing on an assembly line lol

  • @gogosegaga aww thanks man! I think I would get in trouble with Sega though :P

  • Nice! That's a HELL OF A MOD! THANKS A MILLION FOR THE IDEA! Hey, Im a little consern

with the that power jack right on top the he AV and CompVideOut! I wonder if the current

traveling over this video connectors does not creats any interference with the signal! AND For the CASE, I thing you might got away with giving it a middle plate supporting the junction of the UPPER AND BOTTOM halfs of the case! Thanks

  • @ARMODILLOXX33 Thanks! No concern...all the video and audio cables are shielded (they have braided shielding on the outside of the signal wires).

Yes, definitely would be a lot easier :)

  • Awesome project thomas! I dont think ill try that one lol. ill just stick to the controllers. Whats that funky music you got playing there. Great job!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @snstay316 Thanks :) Give it a go...not hard just time consuming

  • ???!!!!

    Well Done!

  • @coachmillsblog Thanks Mills!

  • absolutely amazing man. Great job dude

  • @LMA187 Thanks Lee!

  • Now you just need to add in a Sega Power Base to play SMS games :-D

Great job man! I was thinking to myself as I unloaded groceries from my car "I wonder if that video is up yet?" and lo and behold, it was!

  • @mllarson Thanks :) Yeah, never had the SMS converter planned when I did it. Actually not sure if it's compatible with the 32X.

  • All Bow to the King of Mods!!! Fantastic work as per always!

  • @nogrules Thanks man :) ...but there are plenty of awesome modders here on youtube

  • Thomas, if I dont here from you , have a safe warm Merry Christmas & Happy New year to you and family. Stay awesome...:)

  • Thomas, Im just completely blown away by your talent. This is just simply AMAZING! You are a perfectionist. Very nice! . Im ready to trade.....I have a extra mint Sega CDX...LOL

  • @Utoobyourself Thanks :) No, just time lol but the CD door latch and hinges were a pain hehe.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you as well :)

  • fantastic idea and very well executed, i remember watching the previous project phoenix videos and this came out soo well, nicely done! :)

  • @gibbotron09 Thanks Gib! Was that the Neptune? or the NES?

  • @thomas3120 man i cant remember...neptune maybe? nonetheless im a huge fan of all your mods haha

  • This is jaw-dropping amazing. This looks like a commercial project. Very professional. I can't emphasize enough how impressed I am with your work Thomas. Just amazing. You're in the wrong profession, you need to be in the video game industry designing hardware. Wow, just WOW!

  • @atarileaf Thanks a lot J! You know I was thinking back and I kind of owe it to you. Remember you saying I should do more 'how to' & modding videos after doing those solder videos :D

  • @thomas3120 Ah shucks! :)

  • heyy thomas thats insanneeee mannn!!!!! =D

Just a question the s-video you toked from the 32x or the genesis it self?

  • @segajcharrua tens de fazer uma destas jorge ou 2 depois vendes me uma =P

  • @xXGamer2000xX lolol mesmo que abuso de consola!

    ahahah nunca venderia lolol

  • @segajcharrua There's a couple of ways of doing it. One is using amp transistors (which I'm currently trying) and the other using a seperate encoder chip. It doesn't seem to be 100% yet (on some LCD screens) but def. a lot clearer than composite.

  • @thomas3120 ahh i see because the good thing about the 32x the encoder is powerfull enough to add color on its on with comp cables when is out puting 60hz here in europe because if i used only the MD on 60hz with comp. cables i would only get black n white pic. but with the 32x added i can get color on 60hz with comp cables.

sure i could just use rgb cables but hit would be neat to see if it is possible to take out the s-video signal out of it =D

  • wow.......just wow.

  • @sacheen1712 Hey Sacheen! Thanks & good to hear from you :)

  • Man what an undertaking you did, so many things to jam inside that shell. One power supply, the way it should have been lol. Well you found the best possible FMV 32X game out there, I agree surprisingly good much like Area 51. Awesome work Thomas that is the ultimate fusion mod. :)

  • @TheBladeJunker Thanks Blade :)

  • Greatest modder on Youtube!

  • @ChugAColdBeer Thanks man, but only one of many :) A lot of great modders here on YT

  • Wow incredible machine you created here! Never imagined using a saturn case for this would actually be possible. But wow.

I honestly think you can change/mix/build any console/computer system. You are turning into a real BenHeck! or Damomonster :)

  • @markvergeer Thanks Mark :) Was definitely a tight fit lol

  • Great work. Taking it a step further than the Neptune! I like how much cleaner it is than the original set-up.

  • @bray8916 Thanks Bray!

  • Wow, your work never ceases to amaze me. The idea of making a single Genesis/CD/32X console in one I though was only a dream, but you have made it a reality!

  • @shaurz Thanks Luke! :) It's really not hard, just a lot of soldering. And it would be even easier if you use a case that's just a bit bigger

  • That is just so amazing. You always outdo yourself. Now you just need to make a d-pad Intellivision controller. ;-)

  • @IntellivisionDude Wait... I can't believe I'm hearing this! Something better than the IntelliV. disc?!? ;)

  • man, being a huge sega fan, this is just fantastic to see! great job thomas!!! =D

  • @elcheapouno Thanks Corey! :)

  • Awesome fusion! so glad to see your amazing creation! Looks and functions great!

  • @LoricElf Thanks Loric!

  • The poor sega saturn!!! =( Lol jk. Nice mod man!

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer Thanks :)

  • Come on... You're a genius.

  • @SeeJayAre ..hmm...no lol

  • Nice mod Thomas! That is a very clean job you performed! I am quite impressed! With respect to the completed modification, since the boards are quite close together, have you done any temperature stress tests on the console? How much heat is generated?

For a FMV Corpse Killer is quite impressive. With respect to the comparison you made, the arcade game you are referring to is called "Operation Wolf". That was a very fun, action packed title back in the day!

  • @segagenesis1989 Thanks :) No haven't done any temp. tests. I did leave Doom 32X running for over an hour and it wasn't even warm inside.

Not sure what other game really puts it to the limit.

Yeah, loved playing Operation Wolf in the arcades :D

  • Terrific job, you're like a mad scientist. Each project is better than the last.

  • @sglider Thanks :) no scientist, maybe just a bit mad though hehe

  • very cool. you always outdo yourself

  • @waspspray Thanks Mitch! :) ...but not sure what to do next lol

  • Oh yeah.

    AWESOME JOB Thomas!!! ^_^

  • Just WOW!

You really put in quite a bit of work on that mod. How many hours do you estimate you have in on it. Totally worth it no matter what. What kind of power supply is that? Did you pull it from something else...or is it an OEM? You might have said but I didn't catch it.

  • @BigDaddyDarth Thanks Danny :) Yeah this one took a while hehe. Not really the electronics part of it but more of the case modification, latches & hinges.

It's been a while but I think the power supply is either from a laptop or other device. Just happened to be the perfect specs to use here.

  • This is amazing! Great work!

  • @Bylga Thanks Bylga!

  • Wow!!! That is nothing short of amazing. Nice work!! The Dizzy cart said it best... "Absolutely Brilliant!!"

  • @TheSentinel3000 Lol! Thanks very much :) And want to thank you again for the Nintendo DS Lite...love it :D

  • @thomas3120 I'm very glad to hear that! I still use my CV controller all the time, too. I'm honored to have a "Thomas Mod" of my very own. :)

  • If Sega had you on their payroll they may still may be making hardware.

    Nice job!

  • @starblazers1969 lol :) or maybe ended sooner

    Thanks :D

  • wow awesome i want one :D

  • @davidhass3lh0ff Thanks David!

  • Thomas I was completely blown away by your video. that is the most amazing mod I have ever seen. I wish I had your talent. I would love to buy one of those.

  • @tb46667 aww thanks Tom :)

  • i wish my sega 32x did not need two cords >,< I still have yet to buy the cord to get the beast fired up lol I am still missing the bridge cable.

  • @WorthyouruniverseHD Hey Danny, You're using it on the Gen model1?

I may have part of the cable to make (the connector that plugs into the model 1 Genesis). The other smaller connectors can be bought online I believe. You probably can find a 3rd party cable as well.

  • @thomas3120 i do own the model one converter. the bridge calbe i seen around for 8 bucks here and there. sometimes i wish i could make the 32x its own system with one plug, etc etc haha.

  • Awesome job!

  • @CampbellFitness Thanks Brandon!

  • Thomas! What the hell! This is incredible! If you worked for Sega in the 90's, maybe the 32x and CD wouldn't have been such a flop! Excellent video and mod! Merry Christmas!

  • @cobradvs Aww thanks Tyler! :) Merry Christmas to you as well.

  • Looks great. You are right you are going to have to install some kind of door resister; it opens way too fast as is. What wuld be involved in including a powerbase converter in there as well? Then it couls play all Sega Master System games as well ^^

  • @duhmez Thanks man! Yeah I was thinking some sort of spring or use the friction gear to slow it down.

Probably no on the SMS converter. Not sure if the 32X is compatible with the SMS conv.

  • Amazing work Thomas!

    pretty neat :)

  • @hunainmadi Thanks Hunain! and for watching :)

  • Really cool mod you made there :D SEGA!

  • @FritoFredrik Thanks a lot Fredrik :D

  • Wow,

That is sure is a great console :)

You, Just made the ultimate genesis gain 9,000xp.

The Only thing that sucks is that the master system adapter does not work with the 32x.

  • @Sean3614 Thanks Sean, there is a way to make it work ;)

  • My god Thomas - what an epic mod! Really out done yourself this time mate!! I hate to think how much time when into that, but honestly the results are well worth it :) Merry Christmas my friend, and hope the New Year brings you some awesome times!! Cheers dude!

  • @TheDamoMonster Damo! Glad you like it mate :) & thanks a lot from one modder to another

  • wow thats amazing! you should work for sega lol

  • @shenmueso Thanks Ben, that would be cool but it's all software now though

  • Just incredible Thomas i really think there is nothing that you can not build or mod.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Buddy. : )

  • @jboypacman Thanks Jboy! And have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you and the family :)

  • @jboypacman Thanks Jboy! Aww man appreciate that, but I'm sure there's plenty I can't do.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and the Family

  • Really nice :-) The game your thinking about is Operation Wolf! :-)

  • @K1NGARTH3R Yes! lol that's the one :)

  • thats awesome mate:) didnt Ian Drury write a song about you? ' there aint half been some clever bastards!!' haha although made my head hurt just looking at all those wires!! ha top stuff mate:)

  • It's no Super Nintoaster, but amazing!

  • @lakepalmer You should check out ModdedByBacteria's 'Alpha Omega Project' Now that's going full out :)

  • @minks36 No it was Irene Drewery

  • @lakepalmer im always getting those 2 mixed up!! ;)
