See my response to jjtheman523. If you need proof that the "tunnel shortcut" is actually slower, you should race a time trial using that route, then save the ghost. Race against that ghost without using it, and your time will be faster (and you'll not have wasted a shroom). The fastest time in the world does not use the tunnel, so neither should we.

There is something called "Action Replay" which is literally unlimited shrooms. I don't know how to do that... But, I think you're refering to the constant mini-turbo's I'm doing. You can make those by holding down a shoulder button and toggling the joystick left and right (that's the clicking sound in the video), then (once the sparks turn blue) release and repeat. Start by doing it around corners, before trying on straight aways.

The underground pit is not a shortcut. It is an alternative route, and it in fact takes longer than the regular course path. If you expect to get faster times, do not take the underground path. Please trust me. It's fun to take it once in a while, but it just is not faster.

i know what you're talking about, but it isn't actually a short-cut. it's simply a "different route." plus, it takes longer because of all the air time you take falling to it.

my time here is far from the world record holder's, but basically this is the same exact route that he takes. go to time trials, race the course your way until you get a good time, and save that ghost. then, race against it the way the world record holder races it a few times.

The well can be jumped over without a mushroom. For this, release an MT on the road, well before the grass. With enough speed and the right direction you'll make a slight hop on the other side of the well. During this hop, start preparing an MT and release it as quickly as possible to pick up speed again. This is essential, otherwise going around the well may be even faster

I don't know how to do action replay, and I don't have a Gameshark.

Listen to the video. You can hear my joystick clicking to actually make the mini turbos.

I didn't use the shortcut at 00:19 because there isn't one there. Yes, there's an alternate route, but that doesn't mean it is a shortcut. That way slows your time compared to staying on track. Try doing it one way, then race against that ghost going the other way. You'll see.

Isn't action replay when you get infinite mushrooms? Does it look like I'm using mushrooms... when you can see me powersliding and making the blue sparks for a mini turbo, and you can hear my controller?

No big deal. All it is is LOTS of practice. Get good at mini turboing around the big corners. Once you get good at that, then work on them on straight aways (Peach Beach is a good practice course for it).

if i could get that short cut without mushrooms i could have a shot at the world record with some time my best time is 1 minute 48 seconds i have a video of me doing 1 minute 51 seconds on my file check it out man how long did it take u to get the short cut without mushrooms

Getting that shortcut took me a while to learn. I didn't even try it for the first few months I karted. Once I did start trying (I was about an Expert B), it probably took me a week to get it once in a while. The thing about it is that it needs to be done very well to be effective. Even then, you'll only see a few tenths of a second shaved off of your time. And only do it on one of your 3 laps because it is still the best spot to you use your two shrooms on the other laps!

It's all about getting the proper alignment before the jump (cuz you can't adjust in mid-air) and then executing a Mini-Turbo at just the right moment.

I'm glad you think it was great! It took a lot of practice for me to get it right, but the top karters can easily do the same thing. My best time is only 1'45"211 (0'33"772 for 1-lap). I could get it under 1'45"000, but the world record is still substantially faster.
