  • Sig Sauer sells P226 handguns with RuBee tags built into handle - many armories installed and using - they have no angle sensitivity and also provide shot counting (number rounds fired) for maintenace.

  • @VisibleAssets RuBee is a great technology, but has three big issues for weapons:

    1) The DOD has standardized on passive RFID ISO 18000-6

    2) RuBee is bigger since it requires a battery, it constantly beacons a signal at 131 kHz which can be tracked actively by other parties, it has limited life, and is affected by environment

    3) RuBee tags carry all the data on them, making security an issue should someone gain access to the firearm, passive RFID tags only carry a license plate number.

  • This a the 21st century way to increase security and save resources used on mundane audit and inventory tasks. Another great ODIN solution!

  • Nice job of showing how RFID can be used to track, monitor, and record weapons movement through facilities. People have been asking for this tool for awhile.

  • Great demonstration of how passive RFID can be used today to track weapons. It's about time someone figured out how to do this. Not surprised that it was ODIN.
