i love the crackle of the record player on this. Although i know this audio is nowhere close to a vinyls' clarity, that just makes it feel so much better. Absolutely brilliant song!
I knew Dino Powers in his later life up in Santa Rosa when he lived on Avalon Ave Great songwriter always a sweet spirit! Joli his son used to have a voice just as good OR better I only hope he can tap into his talent and being it to where I used to be Heard it as he played renting my family house on Todd RD Look for big things from Joli Valenti in the future
This is the third time that I've listened to this song. I can't get enough of his voice. I listen to QMS regularly with my favorite songs being "Just For Love". "Fresh Air", & "What About Me". His music reminds me of my father who was a hippie & smoked pot. I love getting stoned while listening to Dino & QMS. To me, It is a spiritual experience that takes me to a different place in time. R.I.P. Dino Valente.
@SpainishArcher This was recorded in 1968 before he re-joined QMS in 1969-70, he had founded QMS then did some jail time for a bullshit pot bust, recorded this solo album and then got back with QMS and the rest is great rock n' roll history.
@cudaj2 - Dino didn't found Quicksilver and pre-1970 didn't even play with them except for a one-off Fillmore gig in February of '67 where he opened as a solo act for QMS and the Electric Flag. That show was bootlegged and on it you'll hear Dino on a few tunes with QMS as well as Nick Gravenites - then of the Electric Flag - on a few other tunes including Walking blues. That whole Dino founded QMS story is completely innacurate but repeated as though gospel.
He was a great artist, a "beautiful cat", and a madman. Knew him since The Dragon's Den in NYC. What a powerful singing voice he had. Those were the days.
This recording got a lot of airplay on KMET.

are we so naive to believe that we passed through a time
so profound and miles ahead and beyond
anything since?
(just wonderin' if I'm the only one, feels like a stranger in this modern time...)

Thank you for uploading this song. This was the first song I learned to play on my guitar. It summed up real hippie culture for me. Thank you, Dino.
You know as the rivers run, that you are children of the sun, live for love and life alone, there's no time to own anybody.

This must have been post QMS?
Too bad Dino and some of the original QMS just couldn't get along.
Dino has such a way with a verse and a voice to kill for.
One of the best!!!

Saw a list of worst trades in SF team history. There has been some bad ones like Orlando Cepeda for Ray Sadeki
but #1 on the list was Quicksilver Messenger Service trading
John Cipollina, David Friberg &, Nicky Hopkins for Dino Valente,
I agree!
