  • Tom and Jerry :D

  • Saw this on Turner years ago and have been seeking it ever since. Love this routine, and love his sister in it. So tell me one thing. Why isn't there more about her dancing professionally? What happened? Or am I just missing more great examples of her talent?

  • @mtlyb Very is little is known about her in general, she was quite secretive I think, her being a Scorpio. But anyway not even her title as the World Greatest Female Tap Dancer has managed to provide the support and recognition that she deserves, look amongst my page for more of her. I do believe her son is working on a biography on her. - G.A

  • @mtlyb It looks like Buddy is just a skosh ahead of the cue for his line at 2:45. He starts to say "Albany" just as she's finishing her line. But guess what!? I don't care! I love this scene! It always makes me smile.

I'll bet they were dead serious when it came to their comedy and dancing. But they can sure bring the smiles.

Thanks for the Info Shurayuki, I'll check your page.

  • the sound doesn't match up at parts. but i've always loved this song and i sing it everyday before breakfast

  • Love it! Adorable! Just don't have anything this adorable anymore :(

  • You don't say! Jed Clampett wasn't always a grizzled old hillbilly. When I saw a program about his career, it made me sad that he missed out on the Wizard Of Oz because of illness.

  • You can't mistake that they're brother and sister, they look so much alike especially through the eyes, and although she(V.E.) moves with more elegance,Buddy's lanky snaky ones really stand out and make me smile.

    E.P.is truly amazing,as always!

  • I woke up this morning and this was on Turners Classics. I was delighted beyond words. I had never seen this. I allways sing, allways wake happy. Now I have another song to sing in the Morning. I live in New York, Hells Kitchen/Broadway. The players are my grandparents age and I imagine them seeing this in the Theater. My friends, neighbors dance in the Theaters, so much is the same really, and has changed at the same time. Thank you

  • Anybody recognize this tune being used in the MGM Tom and Jerry cartoons? Because it was.

  • One of my all time favourite movies, thank you very, very much. What a joy to see this again.

  • Yes, this is a toe-tapper! Thanks for posting it. I love how Ellie mimicks the loose style of the Ebsens! Say, can you post Ellie's take on Kate Hepburn? I don't know how to do that and I think she does a smashing impersonation - older Kate is easier than that ethereal young Kate voice and Ellie NAILS it!

  • I love this movie!

  • This is is one of the most impressive tap numbers i've seen...it knocked me out when I first saw it 15 years ago...nothing could make it better. Melody of '36 has been underrated too long...its one of the all-time great musicals...look at the big numbers from this film that were repeated in 'Singin' in the Rain.' This is solid stuff folks! Now that the studio has finally reissued this on DVD, we need to get a digital version of this on here to match the quality of the performance. Bravo!

  • Thankyou!!

  • I really like this clip. Eleanor's personality really registers, as do those of Buddy and Vilma.

  • That Mickey Mouse shirt that Jed...er, I mean Buddy is wearing is pretty cool...Mickey couldn't have been more than a few years old at the time.

  • I love this song!

  • I can't believe how many people have'nt commented, Eleanor Powell along with Vilma and Buddy are amazing dancers, it looks like your the only who can appreciate it paradisecovemomma......

  • Vilma was 38 yrs older but we were BFF for 28 yrs. She passed at 96 on3/12/07. She taught the Ebsen style of tap to 100s @ her schl & could remember & tell jokes better than pros! Vilm adored her big bro Buddy & loved the Bev Hillbillies DVDs. Longevity secret="Keep movin'!" Happiness secret=Think up new, creative projects for each new day. Adored elephants"ellies" since age 2. Check out PAWS on the net, donate in her name! U have a whole new audience Vilm! C U later Girl.
