I was so lucky and saw this fantastic movie last week at the photofestival Nordic Light in Norway last week..Afterwards Anton Corbjin came to the cinemas, so we could ask him questions about the movie..Amazing experience..
Probably because Corbijn wanted it to look like his film and he started out as a stills photographer. His photographs of Joy Division,(in 1979&80), made him in the UK and are,in my opinion, the best of the band and Curtiss. I liked the movie but he missed out the humour of the band and Curtiss.
@HLimmen how many video clip of Joy division you see in color? this is the reason why it is in black on white. it is for all people have been live this epoque
you know what piss me of.Why all the good die young, and all the best artist has well as friends.I have lost a lot of friends and sister all under the age of 30 yrs.Sorry to put a downer on this great up load, and i know theres know answers but had to get it of my chest.RIP IAN,AND MY FREINDS STAY GOLDEN.has my sister used to say.PEACE.
you fucking little contemporary art dicksuckers, 'oh its in black and white, that must mean its artistic'...you people are celebrating his death more than his life being fans of this film and if the integrity itself doesnt outrage you, then you dont even know enough bout this group and Ian Curtis to begin with....so fuck off and take the criticism this film deserves and you can take all those thumbs down you're giving people and stick them up your fucking asses.

You fucking dickriders giving thumbs down to every fucking negative comment here, I hate you fucking halfassed fans, I was waiting for this movie as well...Joy Division's my favorite group and I've never seen such a disgrace, especially the way, as he'll fail to mention here, he shut all the surviving members of joy division out, wouldnt take any advice from any of them,he just stuck to the book.. they ought to show this film on the lifetime channel..I wanna see 80 thumbs down! go ahead
samantha morton, who played debbie, should have got a lot more credit for this. but this is my favourite film. i love joy division and ian curtis is a music icon.
Creepy, short, fat bitch from Nowhere, North Carolina. caseyramone is a no-talent drummer in a going-nowhere avant-trash (aka let's dress up like rejects from a John Waters casting call); has no taste, no direction, and hasn't got a clue. So sad. Since when is it a "marketing idea" for actors to wear black to a film's premier? "Cheap marketing idea"??? WTF r u talking about? Keep your job as slugbitch in the freak show & save up & buy real drum set you cheap bitch.
I watched this last night on DVD. Though they got the look of the time right, and the acting was good, the film was piss-weak when you consider Ian Curtis was having grand-mal epileptic fits on a daily basis. The intensity of that situation was nowhere to be seen in the film. What you get is a completely one-dimensional version a subject that required thought and depth and was given none.
@Kristin14282 Agreed! Even though you wrote this 2 years ago....lol (just kidding!)
This is a wonderful video - many thanks to Tobescene for posting - its a pity however that I couldn't really make out what the lady was asking Sam/talking about about 15-16 mins towards the end.... picked up something about Ian's suicide and the movie making her cry....and Sam saying "Sorry Love!" (the sweetie!!) that's about it. Does anyone have a clue what's being said ?
Indeed - saw this in London last night - wonderful film and amazing performance by Sam. Also grabbed a few words with Anton himself. I'm sorted now . . .
THANK YOU. I saw it at the San Sebastian Film Festival last Saturday. Anton Corbijn also came on stage to present the film but unfortunately there was no Q&A session. Riley and Lara weren't there either. A very emotional movie...
hahah the audience is so awkward wtf

Why was it in black and white? Don't know but it works & it's a cracking movie. Sam Riley could play Pete Doherty also couldn't he?

I always thought Sam Riley looked more like Steve Morris than Ian Curtis too. He played Ian well but his likeness is more Steve.
