Mike is excelent in what he does, thats why you cant say he is a bad drummer. if someone say that Mike is not very good drummer, just because his solos are a bit borring (not terrible - borring) - must grow up a bit and start to listen to music.
@ChubexD Well, he is a bit borring while playing solo, but he knows what he is doing and he is good at that. We did not talk about the solos though, but if you wanna talk about that - thats cool. Mike is a bit like Lars. At the beggining you love them, then you hate them, after couple of more years of playing, your experience is growing up, and you realize how good they are in what they're doing. They have their own sound, style and groove.

I do think that the whole solo was completely, extremely out af time. To prove how wrong you are do some simple exercise.Find video of Neil Peart, Mike Portnoy and Dennis Chambers. Find the pulse and count to four. Then come back to this video, find the pulse and count to four. If you can feel the pulse on this video, you are someone not from this planet.
Mike, Neil and Lars for egzample, they are completely different drummers and they have their own style. They are reached this point when can not be compered with the other drummers in the world. I can not understand people who are fighting on the drum forums and talk about who is better drummer. This is just extremely stupid, becouse these drummers are on the top. they are already out of any kind of competition.
Jaja, you have to know that there are lots of excellent drummers. the only thing is your preferences. perhaps you are fond of Mike´s drumming style and you say he is one of the best drummers of the world but another person thinks he´s not very good on drums and that he´s not one of the best drummers of the world. It´s just about preferences and likes. In my opinion, Mike´s a very good drummer but i know other people that doesn´t think the same! for that reason you shouldn´t make value judgements
In the beginning what rudiment is he doing? Obviously he's showing off independence, a la Dennis Chambers. He doesn't suck, because he's doing it on purpose. If it was random and didn't repeat as it did, it would be different. But it wasn't and it did.
mmmm where to begin....that was the worst thing i have ever seen really, i mean just shit! its called a metronome you flapping douche....i dont think there was any pulse or groove in that solo....y is that so professionally produced? what a waste of production, the money spent on your pus playing could have been used to feed a starving child. really, your making the world a bad place for this solo....soo soo bad....
i wish to see the guys with the very negative comment hit the drum... rather than giving negative feedbacks why not prove urself

all the free drum lessons instructors have VERY boring solos for percussionists who have been around for a while.
But I guess these solos appeal to the beginners...
