  • wear will you set your multimetre to check the resistance on a crank position sensor with specified value of 480-1000 ? 200,2000,,20k,200k,2000k?

i dont get nothing @200 but wen i switch to 2000 i get 902 on multimrter,@20k i get 0.89 @200k i get 00.8 and @ 2000k i get 000 ! is it good? or is it me ?lol to be +expecific and sorry for my english ,the sensor is a vw g28 speed sensor and expensive as f@#$ part #0261210200 by bosch ,thanks 4 tutorial great stuff

  • @unicojon 2000 or above. Since the resistor has a vaule of 480-1000 any setting below that won't read. Thanks for watching!

  • If the number on the meter is higher, or starts out higher is that bad? My coil is supposed to be at 1.4 but the meter starts at 2.0 and moves down, sometimes it just stays at 1.5.

  • @HybridPineapple Could just be the meter. Yeah, that should be okay.

  • These are great videos you've made. Very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

  • @jataga1212 I appreciate the feedback. Thank you for watching!

  • So..tried this on my motorcycle ignition coil, and I get no reading at all. Keep in mind, the coil is 30+ years old. Am I doing it wrong, or is the coil just shot?

  • @williamperry11 I'd have to see how you're checking to see if it was wrong. It could be shot. Being 30 years old that wouldn't surprise me at all.

  • Thanks,I could only do a prymary resistance ckeck,it was 3ohmes.The coilpack checked out ok,it turns out that it was a loose connector on the crank sensor. the module also checked out ok.now it runs, sweet!

  • @66kerekes Sweet!

  • I would like to see how it is done on a 1990 4.0 ford ranger, tried it from my chilton manual STILL CONFUSED! Got 0 results.

  • @66kerekes If I had a Ranger I'd show ya.

  • Hi :) I would like to test my regulator, battery and stator on my scooter. Will these multi meters do this? I want to find out why my batterys are being drained in just a few months. Kathryn.

  • @nireen777 Yeah, you can test all of that with a multimeter.

  • Please I need to know, if you buy battery from some 1 how can u tell if it is been used or brand new using an electric multimeter?

For example if some one sold me a battery he used it for 1 year already,

if I test it it will give me the same voltage & everything,

    But

when I use it I will find out that it does not hold charge for more than couple of hours

So how can I test it since beginning if it has been consumed or not?

    Very important

I would appreciate if you can help me out

    Thanks a lot

  • @MAIMPORT Responded on your other comment.

  • Hey thanks I appreciate your response. It did turn out that the new coil pack was bad after i tested it. I swapped out the coil and boom the fiero is alive!!!

  • @aaronlp06 Cool

  • I get it, you just stuck the pins in the two connectors. I missed the close-up shot

    the last time.

    THe Zoom was at 1:18

    Good Job

  • I can't see how you got those pins set.......more light please

  • @ratrace2p51 Hmm.. I can see it on my PC. I try to get as much light as possible but it can be difficult.

  • @aaronlp06 Usually it varies. Grab a Haynes manual, it should be in there.

  • @aaronlp06 ...You have continuity on the circuit but, it could be corroded, thus, you will have higher than normal resistance for that specific circuit. Circuits are close, open or resistive (i.e. corroded). You dont have an open, you don't have a closed, then it should be the last - resistance. My.02 cents.

  • I take it the power has to be off for this test?

  • @danzeyboy Yes for this type of test (with coil unplugged)

  • Could you make that in dumb form? I can't understand it haha

  • @gentrymx3 Basically it's a measure of electricity not being able to flow through something such as: a length of wire, a sensor, etc. High resistance blocks a lot of flow, low resistance allows it to flow freely.

  • Nuggets are good...

  • What's resistance?

  • @gentrymx3 The electrical resistance of an object is a measure of its opposition to the passage of an electric current. An object of uniform cross section will have a resistance proportional to its length and inversely proportional to its cross-sectional area, and proportional to the resistivity of the material.
