  • Just in case something goes horribly wrong, never try opening

    the door with your penis...

  • you know that if you have the electric key it automatically opens when you are close.

  • Imagine if its frozen in winter...........and you are stuck outside.........

  • wonder how log it will take for someone to file a law suit for a lost finger?

  • Whats wrong with a normal one ?????? a normal one wont use precious battery power!!!!! Same for the electronic dash.

  • @andgate2000 Aerodynamics, Plus, Its Cool :)

  • @andgate2000 It is all aerodynamics...The battery power that handle uses us MUCH less than the power lost by a normal handle due to drag

  • @Shiqna1 buttons work. touch screens work too... it hasn't even been tried by the mass market and you're already getting all pessimistic.

  • I love this door handle. It is a self parody. So hilarious. Reminds me of spinning dollar sign rims.

If this is the common sense used to engineer this car, people are probably going to regret owning one.

  • @DTownzz Actually having door handles that fold into the sides of the car is fantastic common sense as it improves the aerodynamics of the car. So those people who may regret owning the car would have to be as stupid as you first.

  • @Hirotoro4692

Actually, no. They figured out how to have low profile door handles in the air shadow of the mirrors about thirty years ago. These are needlessly complicated and certainly less reliable or functional, and if you think there is an aerodynamic advantage, that's very amusing.

Face it. This is a stupid car.

  • @DTownzz Im not sure anyone can respect a persons opinion when they use the word "stupid" You're stupid

  • @utrvg4

The word stupid makes a lot of sense here. It's an amazingly wasteful car meant to promote efficiency. Your use of stupid is just meant to say "those who disagree with me are stupid". My use is meant to say "the ends in mind here are not intelligently met by the car in any way shape or form". It's like trying to lose weight by eating a lot of donuts. It's a stupid car.

It's pretty, I guess, but I don't appreciate having to pay for it (all taxpayers are, btw).

  • @DTownzz How many conservatives does it take to change a light bulb? Depends, are they being paid by the oil companies to keep then in business? If so, they'd want to replace the change the DNA of the light bulb to run on a gas generator. That would only take one conservative, by the way.

  • @DTownzz You sir are a stupid man...

  • Being an electric car........why are their so many energy eating gizmos.....youll end up using alot of electricity to power this stuff..... .what happened to a normal handle and instrument panel.

  • @andgate2000 the model S instrument panel can run constantly on its own for over 6 months. Therefore for every 200 kilometres you drive, the instrument panel eats up less than 0.05 of a single kilometre...

Therefore the electricity usage to power 'the gizmos' is so trivial it is utterly, utterly irrelevant.

  • good luck waiting for that handle in winter conditions, you'll be waiting until spring for it to open

  • @Deke1 fortunately it can be disabled and left 'manually overridden'

  • All the people complaining over the sexy ass door handles is rather annoying, just don't buy the fucking thing if you don't like how they open?? Don"t whine and cry all over the comments about it, you people annoy me.

  • I'm not a fan of this feature. I would rather have the price a little lower than have unnecessary gadgetry like this that would be undesirable (if being chased) and its just something that probably won't last and would freeze and jam up in colder climates.

  • @DVeck89 very true. ice build up would probably freeze the handle

  • @DVeck89 yep I agree.

  • seriously? how about when you hit your keyfob to unlock this nigger the handle (ds) or handles (double-tap) pop out so they are ready before you actually get to the stupid car? or just remain out when charging or stopped... suck them back in when in-gear and moving. this waiting around for them to come out is just lame. great concept, though, clean and sexy, but make sure technology does not impede the convienance of the owner

  • @rtardbox why are you using the n-word??? the n-word is a disgusting monstrosity that does not belong in the English language, and it certainly does not belong in the context of a futuristic car.

  • @neutrino78x not sure what you're talking about. i used a lot of words with the letter N in them.

why don't you get angry at people who use the F word or the S word or any other word with whatever letter you and elmo hate today? seriously, what's wrong with you, nigger?

  • @Shiqna1 Oh yeah, hahaha! Haven't thought about that.

  • You have to actually push the door handle, wait for it to pop up, pull it to open the door. Why not just pull it to open the door?

  • big deal.

  • I think pressing it and the door opens would be a bit more impressive.

  • @tomcamp6023 Of course!!! Y no1 thought about this? Just a button...

  • @19ultima88 You like this door setup? OVERKILL!!!

  • @tomcamp6023 well it looks nice, because is something that I have never seen before and reminds smth from the future, but honestly I don't think that will be as good as a simple push button(like you said). In addition, it is more weight for the car, because I assume that thing, need some kind of motor to make it pop out... As you said, a simple push button would be more sophisticated... I think Tesla motors made this only to impress the press, the car is fantastic

  • mmm... lol ^^

  • I think it looks cool, but honestly, what if it did run out of batteries? What if your hand got stuck? What if you're in a hurry or in an emergancy and you don't want to wait 20 secs for the handle to open?

  • @holonat WHAT IF...WHAT IF...WHAT IF...THAT`S THE ONLY THING YOU CAN SAY ???

  • why would anyone want to add such elements to the car? Last thing I want for my car is that I cannot get into my car because 1. door knob's complexity broke and I cannot open my door. 2. battery died and my handle won't work!!!

design simple and to the point and get rid of the thing an save at least $500-$1000 on each handle. STUPID!

  • イライラするね

  • Imagine waiting for it to pop out while a maniacal man is chasing after you.....

  • @kkjgg112391 Frighteningly, that's the first thing I though too 8Þ #LOL

  • @kkjgg112391 I'd beat the shit out of him till I wait for it to pop out :)

  • @kkjgg112391 production versions open up as you approach the door.

  • @TCSMProductions what if you dropped the smart key somewhere as the maniacal man approaches you? yeah I've thought about that too.

  • @kkjgg112391 i think the production one senses the key when it is coming near it, and pops out automatically...

  • @kkjgg112391 it would make a great horror film moment indeed

  • I hope it has sensors on it to prevent your hand from getting caught in it when it closes. Other than that, I am really looking forward to this car.

  • Way too slow. I assume that using the key fob will cause it to pop out when you unlock the doors so that it will already be out when you get to the door.

  • in the production model the handle will pop out as the driver approaches the car (the car will sense the key approaching) so it won' matter how fast it is

  • Yes. Very cool idea imho.
