I think some of what your qouting DT as saying is a bit off, leading me to believe you have not seen the $30.00 video. You keep saying straight when he says keep it vetical. You are claiming he says no wrist hinge when he says they hinge naturally. You can analyze a golf swing quite well, too many contradictions from what you say and what Trahan does in first video, which is all you need. You get much more to go along with that for 0$,Each day I get emails with drills and tips to review his swing.

@mrmooch10 I wonder why they took it off? That was one of the best videos I've ever seen. GO PATRIOTS!!!! (I don't really like the Patriots, but I can't stand the Giants.
Wayne you have to look at Kiran Kanwar's 'minimalist golf swing'. Litterally the the most ridiculous attempt to provide an 'alternate approach' to the golf swing. It has to be a joke. One of your analyses would be great.
@zeeman1948 ha ha sounds like we've found another trahan cool aid drinker. let me guess, you're a 12 handicap who thinks he knows how to play? love it--ha ha keep chasing that ball DOWN THE LINE old timer
Trahan is a snake oil salesman. Only desperate people would buy this garbage. Get a lesson from your local PGA pro and work hard at 100 yards in and you will see a big improvement. Don't waste your money on this rubbish
@rrtmlt , dude why would anyone listen to you? You're a sick excuse for a human being! Geeze, I just wasted anothe 5 seconds of my life reading your garbage.
5) Did you analyze whether or not the club is on plane at impact because it is,which means it must be moving in a circle, just one which is more upright.
@secretogolf this swing is for the older player with limited mobility (who happen to be the majority of club players and are over 50 )so whoever is analysing is one of these "empty your wallet teachers"-who wants everyone to swing like tiger woods with no hope of getting better-so mr commentator get some advise out for older players just wanting to hit the ball easier or just stop being a knob
while i don;t think the swing is as easy as Don says it is. i don;t think you;ll come across an internet golf site that gives so much free stuff as swingsurgeon. com does. Dons enthusiasm and desire to see people play better golf can not be doubted. sure he;s selling stuff but hey ! no one has to buy it. but you are right executing the hip bump while the back swing is still going up is very very difficult, i know from bitter experience. lol.
@richardincrawley You know, it's my understanding that Don has split with the "spam artists" that ran his website. I don't doubt Don's sincerity and his efforts to help people. My initial annoyance with the site was the nuclear marketing scheme that his partners used. I also had objections to the information, but that is to be expected when you talk to golf pros. Nothing I said was meant to disparage Don personally, and I hope he understands that. He is entitled to believe what he wants to.
Golf instruction is about teaching a "feel" thing to another person. Not easy. I think most golf instructors teach the same thing, but in different ways. I've picked up so many things from so many people bit by bit, because of the way each of them explained something. Using different drills, devices, analogies, descriptions. You need to find the description or method that gets through to your brain. There is no such thing as bad instruction, you have to find what is good for you!
you think its for old men. when watch a young mane with heaps of power do it. i'll be on sky sports hd. see ya.if an old mane can hit 250 with 3 wood. what can a young mane do. pop off.
you got back problems. your one to talk about peak performance swing. but i must admit the don swing is more what you make of the way you swing rather than actually what you do
to explain the harmonica effect:when you going up a steep hill in 2nd gear and that aint gonna be enoughf power, then you change into first quick so the car is still moving forward and your off.otherwise wait and you get the weight of the car working against you.you need to play with clutch and rev heavy
Well if you look at 5:46 seconds into your video it shows he is exactly doing what he claims. I don't know if you are blind or stubborn. Further I have put this to serious study and practice and now play and my handicap has gone down and my back is much better than before. I hit straighter shots as well. By the way his son does NOT stay in the shot as long as many of the Pros on tour if you really look closely. My 2 cents.
When Don refers to keeping it vertical he is referring to the club itself. He doesn't layoff the club and he keeps the club from rotating behind the back. Your claim that Don says you don't have to practice is bull. the man produces videos everyday to are designed to improve swing.
ARMS PRODUCE SPEED? BACK-FRIENDLY? NO WRIST HINGE? this guy's a clown! there i took it negative. this fear mongerer profits off of desperate hackers with semi-clever marketing. and that boston accent is enough for me to go buy a yankees hat!!!
OK, so Don gets a little "hyper with his hype". But Wayne, to be accurate, he also doesn't advocate swinging "straight up". He turns back to an inch or so behind the toe line then moves more vertical than around. Great vid's by the way, very entertaining!
Another arm chair quarterback. Until you've actually tried this you may wish to hold off comment. I had a single digit handicap using the traditional swing. The trouble was the pain this generated in my lower back (fused L4/L5) and the ever increasing scores. I bought the system, it wasn't much, and went to work. My scores are dropping and my back isn't hurting. I've gained 10 yds on my clubs and don't feel I'm swinging hard. The Surge's swing works. Without it I'd have to quit golf.
After watching the free video series last summer & implementation of the techniques he mentioned I immediately noticed a decrease in physical discomfort . I attribute this to a quieter lower body like ASHI HARI a technique in the Olympic sport of Judo using the entire body to finish the rotation relieves the strain from the torso and hips. As far as accuracy goes if you take the club back less you will stay on line . I could easily go on about how how good this swing is. Lowered my scores by 8+
I agree that this could help your back but thats only because it restricts rotation and causes you to lose distance plus this guy opens and closes the clubface a ton. Good analysis but i think its a bit too skeptical nevertheless
i was about to buy his dvd's, but instead i took lessons from a local pro. it took a month or two to see results but i went from shooting in the 100's to low to mid 80's. getting private lessons really is the way to get good at golf. thanks for posting this
Im a lifetime 5 handicap or less. Over the past 3 years my handicap went up to double digits to a high 9 due to a lower back problem. As don says he feels like its up and down, and a i found out by practicing the limited turn more upright swing that it has been easier to learn than others I've tried and my back no longer is a concern when i golf, even though i still have back trouble after a long day at work and ive dropped back to a 6handicap in less than a year with this swing.
the concept is not wrong. don clearly states over and over that its ideal to swing up and down WITHIN THE LIMITATIONS OF OUR BODY. defrancesco makes a big deal about how this is all wrong and untrue based on the fact that both players arent swing perfectly straight up and down...OMG!. DJ is doing what his father taught him to do ever since he started playing and that is why he IS on the PGA TOUR. this entire analysis is backwards. idk why i wasted my time watchin this bull hahhahaha!!
Two plane swing with high hands so you drop the arms and not rotate the body for power. Takes a lot of practise like any other method. You probably will still suck but your lower back will hurt less. Please call now.
It's sales stuff. Legal lies.
You have to do Knudson. Your computer work and observations are a treat to watch. very cool.
It's an older man limited flexability two plane swing . You got lost on the up and down stuff. His terms are missleading compaired to how others use the same term. He doesn't like a forced cock ( who does) and does not like much rotation. D.J. does the same swing as Don but with a foot more height and a skinny young body. It's a high two plane limited turn. No big deal and nothing new.
@1961steelhead Ok, so sell it for what it is, not "the perfect swing" and not one you can "get" with two buckets of balls and little practice. Again, if it weren't for the ads and claims I wouldn't have paid any attention.
@wdefrancesco It's called "MARKETING". Since Don split with PPGS, they are selling the PPGS-Revolution Golf with Paul Wilson. Since that's the new "perfect swing" why don't you analyze Paul's swing?
@wdefrancesco so you try to sell your stuff as being a "GOLD MEMBER" and it's like the proverbial "gift that keeps on giving" What's it now $249.00 each and every year?
@1961steelhead Regardless of what he means by up and down, Wayne pointed out 2 very difficult moves needed to make this swing. The angle of the downswing requires the hands to drop severely to get the club back square and the early hip movement starting the downswing is difficult to perform. This is not some magic swing that is easy to learn and doesn't need to be practiced, but it's marketed as such. Wayne very clearly points out why that is not the case.
Wayne- I do agree with some of the things you are talking about. However, I think you would agree that it is about what a person feels like they are doing as to what they are really doing. You see it every weekend on TV. They take a practice swing to simulate what they want to do and then when the real swing it is not even close to that practice swing. But they feel like that is what they did. I do believe that beginners can play better with feeling limited lower body movement..
D.J. does everything his dad does because his dad is his coach. He does not mention that his swing allows for less practice. Practice is the only way this swing can be produced. I'm sorry that his instructions of a lot of practice didn't meet your expectations of becoming an overnight PGA pro on tour when you judged his work for face value.
@fitsurvivor4787 there was a period when he said that you could 'get' the swing within 2 buckets of balls and that you wouldn't have to work very hard to maintain it. This all goes against basic motor learning patterns.
I wanted to take time and personally thank you for your excellent swing reviews. Regarding the peak performance golf swing, I am *so* happy that you did this video because I bought his program and watched and studied them all. I was forcing the same problems that you described in this video. It is a perfect explanation of what is wrong with his swing training. I am certainly going to call and ask for my money back. Thanks again.
bobby jones, sam snead, and jack nicklaus didnt live in the range and didnt practice all the time... and they were the best... so there is a swing that is easy and repeatable ... you just havnt found it yet...
@BoHoVsGolf Here's a quote from Ben Hogan's Power Golf: "During the war Bobby Jones played with Hogan in a big tournament in Chicago. Afterward he told Grantland Rice and told me "I thought I was a hard worker at this game. I thought Hagen and Sarazen were hard workers. But Ben Hogan is the hardest worker I've ever seen, not only in golf but in any other sport." Sounds like Jones didn't consider the swing "easy and repeatable". I'm guessing that neither Snead or Nicklaus would think that either
If my name would be Wayne De Francesco I really wouldn't complain much about it but hey, if you want a cool stage name I've got one for you. Since you practically have the same voice as Clancy Brown why don't you take the name "the Kurgan". Classic villain that didn't mind sticking his neck out. Sort of what you're doing her I guess...

1) He says take the club vertical not straight back,"Stay Vertical," is his reminder.
2)Ds take on cocking the wrists is not to emphasis it as they are already cocked at address & uncock through centrifigul force.
3) This upright move with a bump to the left will achieve a great deal of lag.
4) The upright move also encourages use of the large muscles for better stability in the swing structure.
On and on,this is the simplest swing pattern I have come across with 0 compensations involved.
