  • great pioneer...

  • Dear MysterWright, I'm not knocking Mr.Tim Rogers..my point is..I'm praising his humor

which depended on spoofing the flaws of man..and not using racist or

dirty words or angry topical humor.

  • Nipsey Russell! I love The Wiz! Teeeeeny!

  • Thank you for posting the Timmie Rogers videos especially the Jackie Gleason and The Dom DeLuise shows. I remember watching Timmie on Gleason in the mid sixties when he wore a tuxedo! I believe he was the first African American comedian to do that. In those days he would use the OOOOOOH Yeah phrase after almost every joke and I would laugh my head off! I for years asked people if they remembered him, finally one guy did and got me his name back around 2005! Thanks again!

  • OH YEAH!

  • I remember my brother and our best friend next door, in the summer of '66 or '67, watching this guy and laughing a lot at his "Oh Yeah" routine. After the years went by, we couldn't remember his name, but we never forgot how funny he was and the "Oh Yeah" bit---which we would continue to invoke over the years. It's good to rediscover Timmie Rogers and learn his name. You could see how he paved the way for so many comics who came after him. Genius.

  • I'll never quite understand why Timmie Rogers never 'took off'. It may have been the plethora of '50s and '60s powerhouse comics (Cosby, Russell, DeLuise, Winters, Pryor, etc.) that made the era more competitive. But he was an incredible talent and it's great to re-discover his work.

  • Didn't the lady who appears at 2:35 of the video make at least a couple of appearances on Sanford & Son, including once as Grady's girlfriend and once as a flight attendant?

  • nice, now I know about him. He was funny from what I see.

  • Great history.

  • thanks to you ricknineg2009!..way to go!..I will spread the word...the man is a talented and full of great energy...and before his time...

    oh yeah!!

  • Mr.Rogers was a funny man..but

    a forgotten performer.

He was funny without being dirty or

racist or being a blackface cartoon.

  • @143AC I'm not going to be judgmental. I just have to bravely ask: wasn't blackface spawned from comedy that slaves used to perform for each other about the plantation owners in whiteface?

  • I've met Mr.Russell before he died.

He was polite..but he was distint from people.

    Because..if he didn't know you..he was proective

of himself and he stayed away from pesty fans.

  • This brought back some memories. I had forgotten about Mr. Rogers.

  • Very interesting interview.
