To let everyone know: I got back on the train, but I did get her number and we kept in touch for awhile. It was hard, because we were both starting new and exciting lives. There were talks about meeting up again and picking up where we left off, but it never happened. Eventually the phone calls were fewer and fewer. I haven't talked to her in years, but I'll never forget that night it was amazing and who knows maybe one day we cross paths again AND if so.. I won't be getting back on that train.
@elvisj2056 You can't go back E. Everybody has regrets. There's a reason your windsheild is bigger than your rearview window. Look forward, not back. Get it right next time. Enjoy your life!

It was an amazing night and maybe 1 day we reconnect or cross paths.
and this song, for me, is the test... if we're together and love it equally I know it all works between us... it has never failed me yet... and I'm older than the song...
@ReedemingOak Whoa! TMI, but a funny one. I'm sorry to hear this. They have plenty of pictures and videos called PORN. It usually teaches you how to do it right! :D ;)

@itsmznatnatbitchez I'm a true belieber and i love this song. stop tryin to come at ppl for liking different things just 'cause they don't like the same things u like -_-

I bet millions upon millions of couples over the years have used this song on their significant other. After being with somebody for 10-20 years and one day you discover they don't even know your favorite color....lol !
as a Englishman, and a ex 80,s modile DJ from the NE ENGLAND,nobody cared, where the Music came from, when it,s class like this, then that,s what they want, people will use these sound,s to sum up what, and why they are feeling the way they do,while they are with the one,s that mean the most,at the time.
this song reminds me of a girl i met on a train. We were both hours from our destination, it was night time and we couldn't sleep. We talked til the sun came up. Describing our likes or dislikes, arguing our favorite movies and music..Laughing.. Even debating on life and love. She was amazing. When the train arrived at her stop we exited holding hands and... Shared a kiss... I was weightless. She asked me to stay, to not get back on that train. Ill never forget her
@supastudmuffen get on the fucking train, try to find her, you gotta know her name or something, and when you find her look her square in the eyes and say, babe you and me's goin' on a date and that's end of story. :D

Now I am emotionally scarred. So sometimes getting on the train is not a bad move. But I'm sorry to hear your story. Maybe 1 day u'll c her again!
@mlcoolk1 an english group that remade this song. it went to number 1 in 1989. their version was ok but it cant mess with the original. even mick hucknall the lead singer of simply red has said this.
Sing it Teddy. There is only one man with that magnificent voice that can melt that hearts of women across the world. The heart and soul of the Blue Notes, oh and Melvin.
I'm playing this right now infront of my girl and she is holding my hand like she's trying to tell me this song is from me to her and I'm the the one who is showing it to her! lol We both love this song either way so I guess it's ok :-)
@alliyah78 ... That's Teddy Pendergrass on the Lead Vocals Harold Melvin was rarely the lead vocalist, he just was the one who organized the group. Simply Red's is nice but he has nothing on Teddy P.

Most on the Internet would say I'm wrong, but I could care less. Ever been to a dance at the Faison wharehouse? Those where the good times!
I used to hold my girlfriend so tight to this song, nothing would tear us apart as we gazed into each others eyes under the moonlit skies on a clear summer night...now I am a chronic overweight masturbater living in my moms basement, this tune sure brings back memories!!
this is a love song, that will allway's liovw on, and on.I can still remember mary scott, from my Jr, high, love is so real when your young, with an open heart, and a clean spirit, that can guide to a happy home. like the one i left behind, i love all the love;s in my life, who didn;t really know me, cause i didn;t know my self." powerful love"

@xyPERSON No, Red version wasn't bad - i guess certain songs are associated with one artist or group. Like John Lennon's "Imagine." It's been done by others fairly well, but there's only one "real" version. Or Marvin Gaye's, "What's Goin' On?" After Gaye's voice and instrumentation, any later version, no matter how good, just doesn't reach the same level. In my view. Others may differ, which is cool.
This is one of those songs that I didn't particularly care for when it was first released back in 1972, but I've come to love over the years. It brings back such great memories!
@9615Chiefs My first child, and son, was born in this year, but his mother decided "she did not really know me", still see him, and enjoy my time with him, a true classic record.
@XDJustinBieberfan Get the fuck outta here with your Ben Sanders bullcrap. who the fkuc is that loonytoon? better not be a whittey; cause if it is,, you get a Monster Dick in yo ass and a cup of Gooeey milk for you to Swallow.. and fkuc you just for comparing This Originals whit who knows what.. what an idiot, Comparing Original Stuff with Something else.. go to sleep
@XDJustinBieberfan Come on, Simply Red did a very nice version but nothing beats the original in this case. Ben is a goos singer but no Pendergrass ;-)
Today's music is all synthetic and half the ppl can't even sing without the recording being tweaked. I wish music wa still like this (I'm 12 just so you guys know). What ever happened to real talent and singing with your heart?
baby brother to the legendary 5 Stairsteps, I have to agree, music is not what is was... you can hear what I do on myspace . com / lenburke hope ya enjoy some of it.
They sing, they harmonize, their words have real meaning. Beautiful. How did music ever descend to the sewage it is today? Ahhh, to have good music again.
Harold Melvin & The Blunotes featuring Theadore Pendergass on lead vocal.CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

saw this group in early 80's in very small club. I sat not 10 feet from them. I will never forget how powerful it was when they sang this song.

@XDJustinBieberfan Get the fuck outta here with your Ben Sanders bullcrap. who the fkuc is that loonytoon? better not be a whittey; cause if it is,, you get a Monster Dick in yo ass and a cup of Gooeey milk for you to Swallow.. and fkuc you just for comparing This Originals whit who knows what.. what an idiot, Comparing Original Stuff with Something else.. go to sleep
cazzo53 11 months ago
@XDJustinBieberfan Come on, Simply Red did a very nice version but nothing beats the original in this case. Ben is a goos singer but no Pendergrass ;-)

Today's music is all synthetic and half the ppl can't even sing without the recording being tweaked. I wish music wa still like this (I'm 12 just so you guys know). What ever happened to real talent and singing with your heart?

"I've got mine!" "Woman, you've got yours too!"
I've actually used this song while in a disagreement with my wife.

The incomparable Teddy Pendergrass singing. Lady Antebellum sang 2 lines on the Grammys and didn't get right.

truly one of the most soulful songs, with heartfelt words, ever written and better yet perfrormed by Teddy Pendergast

They sing, they harmonize, their words have real meaning. Beautiful. How did music ever descend to the sewage it is today? Ahhh, to have good music again.
