  • di you wanna find a place to put these aliens? forget about it, this is new york!

  • operation soil my pants initiated, this must be the best line so far in this lp

  • "operation soil my pants" that made me laugh :P

  • Julius took that first floater down like a fucking commando!

  • Give Drake some credit.......

  • I love how Joey showcases once again his piss poor aim, and you still considered him more useful than Sparkle.

Sparkle: Dies and gets considered less useful than the inaccurate monkey named 'Joey'

Jutah: Leads the team and survives longer than anyone(excluding Drake), killing 5-6 people in his service, and not a single fuck is given.

    The good are always forgotten

  • "Julius, you've picked the short straw purely because you're a woman."

  • Well Drake's pissed

  • @runsaber1 While the republibots stand by and contemplate the jacked up prices they could sell the ruined land...hahahaha...

  • @runsaber1 you and your stupid politics

  • it doesn't take many TU's for a reaper to moon you

  • Actually Kiko he was aiming for that civilion with that grenade so he didn't miss

  • GET OUT OF MY F***ING TOWN

  • It's a hell of a town.

  • at 12:50 he shouldd have trown a GRENADE

  • @smileyzrevenge Honestly? Grenades suck. High Explosives on the other hand, are pure "quickly destroy this area" fun. Provided you avoid the friendly fire...

...I'd sooner use proximity grenades to protect an area; two of em can usually stop a chrysalid (unless your unlucky and he walks right over them with impunity.).

  • @Darkmage1293

Alien Grenades pack more punch than a high explosive, but they lack the skull decall, so they aren't as cool.

I tend to use a proximity grenade/electroflair perimiter around my shelter against chrysalids. This tactic proved great for what was almost my own C-day but I got to the second floor and managed to mine the stairs.

  • @BrawnX Using X-Com Util, high explosives can be pretty useful. I never use them now, but early on, thanks to one of X-Com Utils features, whcih upped the damage, allowed it to bust through the outer hull of a UFO, like a Blaster Bomb can. It's a small chance, but there. Somewhat useful as a tool for breaking and entering, if the UFO's entrance is heavily defended. Besides, the alien's AI doesn't allow them to exit a UFO from anywhere but the entrance, strangely.

  • @Amainville93

Does Util work with the Steam version? I've managed to completely trick the AI using HE charges before. Lage scout, a lot of guys near one interance, HE at other set for one or 0 turns, be at least round 20 and blamo. The AI doesn't let them know locations of explosives.

  • @BrawnX It indeed does work. I recommend you get it from the Ufopaedia website (it's essentially the X-Com wiki), that's where I found it. All of its features can be turned on at once, or you can choose what you want to turn on. For instance: I hate night missions, so I turned them off.

Also, it comes with a few nice bug-fixes that the Steam version doesn't get rid of, like the difficulty bug that makes it default to Beginner after a mission.

  • @Amainville93

Ah. I woulda done that as well. This is probably me just beeing cheeky and tired of burnig through elirium, is there a tool that doesn't subtract from elirium to reload clips?

  • @BrawnX I'm not entirely sure. But there are a huge amount of fixes and little tools that help with the balancing a bit, like one that makes Heavy Lasers more useful than they currently are, and makes tanks more useful in the early game. The best fix I can think of is one where, for whatever reasons, ground getting destroyed in mountain areas makes the ground into a tree stump, which makes it so you can't move there. It fixes that.

  • "You're probably inevitably going to get horribly shot."

That one always gets me XD

By the way you can save that pint :P Drake got two reapers with one auto shot turn, I didn't see Fingus do that!

  • "You're probably inevitably going to get horribly shot."

That one always gets me XD

  • And now I've got the image of a Reaper creeping up behind a soldier wielding a Kick Me sign in my head... :)

  • where's Jill Kiko?

  • Really wish the game started up against Floaters instead of Sectoids. They are so much easier. Especcially once the mind control starts rolling in. Ew.

  • @Bormac Sectoid leaders can be a pain. I'd rather start against Snakemen minus the bomb launcher. They're easiest. Floaters can fly and can catch your unarmored guys off guard. Plus if flying won't be hit by rocket splash.

  • My word drake seems to be kicking ass quite well... Guess that wound did him some good. Luther did noticably good as well. Yvel has yet to make a blunder too. Seems that lady luck is smiling on them... For now

  • You know for someone who went insane on the first mission, Drake seems to be doing well.

  • Possibly the funniest X-Com video yet!

  • "operation soil my pants initiated"

    LOL

  • 9:30 - I'm starting to think that Drake has an uber luck stat. He's survived being shot in the face twice, and it's as if bullets and grenades just go around him. He has all the luck, all of it.

  • "Time to relieve you of your gun... and your spleen."

The reason why I love Kikoskia :)

  • It might seem awkward, but one thing I do with names: Add x-y-z to the names. X is bravery, Y is reaction, Z is firing rate. The most important stats you can't easily see when selecting soldiers in any menus or in combat.

So drake would be named Drake 2-6-6. Easy to read, takes only 5 characters (you can always cramp it to 3, but looks bad), and frankly, is VERY useful info to have in sight all the time.

  • @SFJake250 Nice strategy.

  • You've outdone yourself, Kiko. This was the most entertained I've been in a reeeeally long time. More alien voices!

  • 2:01 Is that a reference I hear with my little ears? ^u^

  • 2:06 Holy crap Julius had good aim there.

  • I need some tips for this game. I just started and India just got curb-stomped by terror ships. What do I do?

  • @Zylo587 ufopaedia... google it. Also xcomutil is probably a good idea. The strategy guide if you can find a copy of it is a lot of fun to read and has some good tips in it. There's also a fairly good guide on GameFAQs.com I'm going to be doing some tactics and learning videos at some point as well.

  • @deatheven13 Thanks.

  • Ethereals... The bane. THE BANE OF MY GODDAMN EXISTANCE.

  • Landing gear! kill it!

  • Kiko, did you get some weed? xD Great vid!

  • I never laughed this hard while watching a Let's Play.

  • "Hey, what's happening- OW! Screw this, I'm going home."

For some reason, I can totally see the reaper saying that.

  • Hmm, as a New Yorker myself, I can assure you that this is not much different from an average day in the Bronx.

  • Omg you were soo drunk XD

  • Wow! Kiko in a splendid form! Didn't laugh so hard for looong time!

  • I got this game a few days ago. Amazingly enough the soldier I named after you is still alive and a sergeant while the one I named after me is your captain. Huzzah!

  • Seems the xcom soldiers finally graduated from Storm Trooper academy and received weapons that can actually HIT their targets

  • @AzureFayt you just won the game! xD

  • @AzureFayt Kiko was silly, and gave them the laser pistols earlier, with which you will never see an Auto shot accuracy of over 28% (if an operative has 160 Firing Accuracy)

  • bravery isnt alllllll omfg im gonna murder the part of your brain which thinks it

  • everytime i watch a x-com vid i always think my steam is going on.

  • Terror mission in my city. Kiko kick some ass n rumble in the Bronx!

  • Oh god, he's truly on a roll with the impersonations today.

  • Oh gods these videos are so much better than Icewind Dale. I love these XCom vids!

  • "Now I have to buy you a pint, alright alright I'll buy you a pint... uggh".

I was expecting a "ugggh this is gonna be an expansive mission" after that.

  • Good stuff Kiko. Though you should give someone a rocket launcher or some type of explosive weapon to broaden your tactical options. You probably don't want one bad shot to ruin your whole teams day, but a well placed rocket can wipe out quite a few Aliens or destroy their cover.

  • "Let's Save X-Com UFO Defense Again, again, again, and again, and.... "

  • This has to be one of your best episodes, kiko.

  • Is that a Reaper centipede I see?

  • Floaters just wanted to restock their alien food supply.

  • Dangit, Kiko, stop saving so often! Accept your losses like a man and replace what needs replacing if it comes to it. No one likes a savescummer! At least you've only been saving often. I think there's been what, one reload just because of bad positioning on your part? That's totally fine, but the massive saving's still kinda bad.

  • @ChibiSoma i think it's mostly in case of crashes, if he crashes mid video he can just reload and edit out the bit after the crash. He has accepted almost every loss so far, which is MUCH more than most players do.

  • @Kh4rn4x

yes, but hey who can blame them? the game is sometimes very unfair.

Several times i hit a snakeman or chryssalid with a laser rifle and they were unharmed.

But 1 hit on the front of my commander wearing an energy suit and having like 50 hp took her down :(.

But yes accepting losses make the game even better

  • @ChibiSoma lol you mad?

  • @ChibiSoma thats just following the most common piece of advice giving in just about anything having to do with a computer, save and do it often, power outage really suck if you dont

  • Ive been waiting for this one. Moar X-Com please!

  • I just love how Kikoskia always sort of "hoping" for a grenade to drop in the middle and blow up the entire squad, even though he is the one responsible for such a formation. :D

  • How much is that ham in the supermarket?

The one with the really good pr-- OH GOD I'M BEING SHOT!

    Classic.

  • @AnubusStar It was just an epic way to start this LP. I couldn't stop laughing.

  • @AnubusStar And thus, he died.

  • I've been playing this along with Kiko and i've had about 3 terror missions and 2 bases in which no one has died 0.0

  • Your soilders are being more accurate then mine are. I'm looking forward to the terror missions involving snakemen :).

  • Kiko impersonations are the best.

  • Yvel has a birth defect which clearly prevents him from shooting something the size of a small truck =/

  • Why can I see Fingus as the goblin, in the personal armor, waving around a laser rifle and firing madly while screaming 'For my pint!' at the top of his lungs? Why?!

  • Perhaps the Floaters would have better accuracy with grenades if they didn't throw them in an underhand lob.

  • Nothing like getting up at 5 AM CST, logging onto YouTube, and checking out a bunch of new X-Com videos!

  • @emilysong2000 Waking up 5AM in the morning, gotta go downstairs, gotta put on my computer, gotta watch kikoskia

  • More optimistic this episode Kiko? I noticed in the beginning when talking to Drake you said he'd only be 'horribly shot' instead of being 'horribly killed' like usual. Hurray for optimistic Kiko!

  • we need kikos greatest hits

  • Also

Id like to ask him to do more voices for the charchters.....also operation pee my pants sounds worse then operation bumrush

  • +10 luck this episode.

  • Dam those ham prices mustve been really good for him to look at them all the time instead of ....well terrorizing ppl

  • OH GOD! I'm being shot!

  • why do aliens and monsters hate new york

  • Glad to hear you are looking well Kiko!

  • You know this game actually seems better than the second game I've noticed.
