Replacing Your Mercruiser Marine Engine Sea Water Pump Impel

i did my 2 350's from the front, removed the pump and wheel off the block, i considered removing from the back but my engines were inside a cramped engine compartment so it was impossible to do from the back. it took me an hour and a half to do each one. i removed a hose to get my hand around the back to remove the 2 hoses from the pump, it wasn't that bad a job. i paid 35 bucks for each impeller kit with o ring. i used a zip tie around the new impeller to compress it to get it in the housing,

Thanks for the vid, also the bolts should only be tightened to 18-20 lbs. I fould this out after a new install - day two of vacation:)

Did anyone catch the fact the impeller housing was rotated the wrong direction during reinstall? Should have rotated clockwise to align housing and plate. Think that new impeller is arched the wrong way now.

@thebuilderdude68 Yes, I just triple checked. He did twist it the wrong way when reassembling the housing to the pump body. But I doubt it would re-orientate the fins of the impeller. If doing that was enough to change the blade direction then as soon as the engine was turned over it would fix itself again probably. Not the best procedure though, but that's what the pressure of having to narrate on vid can do.

I agree this is much easier when the pump is off teh motor. The front mounted crank driven pumps are easier to service with the pump body left on the motor.
