...it's not that hard to growl like that... he's an amazing vocalist, but it's not so ridiculous that distortion should even be brought up. Naturally growling that low isn't hard at all for most guys

Mikko wouldn't sound good with FX. It wouldn't suit his voice. Although I HATE Canibal Corpse he doesn't use distortion either, and that's one of the people Mikko was 'inspired' by even though Swallow The Sun are like, way better, best band, ever. (: I want to see them live soo bad but I live in England and it's like, MILES away. :( Still, I love STS. :) And distortion often makes songs sound crap.

Atleast, I'm not a fucking tool that thinks this is his natural voice. Finnish metal is well known for using distortion vox fx. A voice should not have distortion if you want to growl it should be a real growl.

precisely, its his natural growl. i have personally witnessed one of their soundchecks somewhere and as i know the soundengineer of that said gig personally, i also remember some of the gearlist present. and it didnt have anything to even begin to support that idea. And besides, distortion is more a black metal thing, and even there is more of a support, not a "generator". check Naglfar for reference.
