I'm a fan of both and they are bands with different style. But if in terms of vocalists, I'd choose Kyo (Dir En Grey) over Corey (Slipknot) . He just has one hell of a vocal range.

there both awsome and DIFFERENT bands. Slipknot is more technically proficent then dir en grey in terms of guitar playing. And again the reason slipknot is bigger is because they first sing in english and there live shows always end in mass destruction lol. Both bands kick serious ass.

I'm a huge fan of both. But I have to say that SlipKnoT beats Dir en Grey! I seen a lot of concerts and Dir en Grey concerts are boring. Even in Japan there's not even a lot of movement in the audience.

@magma3000 well this is late, but in Japan the crowds don't really mosh like Americans or Westerners. Its mostly about the region you're preforming in, will tell about the reaction from the crowd :).

I haven't heard of a performance in Japan that ended in a mosh pit forming. But of course, correct me if I'm wrong ^^/

it is logical that they all rejoiced over Slipknot and not Dir en gray, because the concert held in the United States: but imagine that koncetr held in Japan? So I think the audience threw Slipknot! XD Slipknot America's territory and not Dir en gray ! and that's the only reason for poor show as far as DEG.Kyo would love to talk to the audience, but would anyone understand it? I think not ...

I think Slipknot is better than Dir En Grey, because I was there that day and while looking at D.E.G I didn't get that feeling of the band like I did from slipknot. Kyo didn't talk to the crowd and they did a bad concert! I just like the final at this live.

Slipknot gave themselves to the crowd, they talked and did every little song very good and nice! (sorry for the bad english, after all I'm swedish XD )

DEATHGAZE is always called the Japanese SlipKnoT because of their music.

VanessA is underground band cause they don't want to get famous then into mainstream.

Dir en Grey isn't as heavy as Slipknot, Kyo just yells more out of control. It's a draw for me between who I like better, but I think most of us Americans say that Dir en Grey is better to sound smart.

I'm a fan of both bands, and Dir en grey are my favourite band, but the guitarists & drummer of Slipknot are on a higher level of playing.

It may just sound like they're randomly thrashing the strings, but it actually takes a lot more skill on their instrument than the stuff Dir en grey play..

In the aspect of skills on their instruments, Slipknot > Diru.

In the aspect of the composition side of it, Diru > Slipknot.

Their music isn't as in your face or aggressive as SK.
