I think this song is referring to Bobby Sands' hunger strike in 1981 from which he died. He was a Provisional IRA volunteer and a member of the UK Parliament (thanks wikipedia). My interpretation is that Bobby was standing up for what he believed in and died for his cause and the song is about his struggle slowing dying and wondering whether he was doing the right thing. I could be wrong...but thats just how I interpret this song, and I think we can all agree its pretty damn amazing.

I agree with rccar... it's definitely about eating disorders. although i drew my own meaning from it before i realized that's what it was about... i think as long as a song hits home to you about something it doesn't really matter if you're on the same page as the artist, it still serves its purpose.
