  • My Mom has a friend named Nick Tyler that is related to John Dillinger.

  • @MrDeCorey man do you really need to put this comment on almost every video... so what ...

  • u know whats funny im related to John Dillinger no joke

  • Funny... Melvin Purvis commit suicide in the 1960s...

  • @MegaMrMarbles I read something that he was cleaning his gun and it accidently went off. He was standing on a staircase according to the book I found. Some bad energy surrounding the gun. I also heard he consciously blew his own brains out with the same gun he used on Dillinger so who knows?

  • blackbird is the first song they dance too and it resembles herr...but anyway i love john dillinger..and public enemies and i like that they did the scenes were it actually happened r.i.p. john dillinger gone but not forgotten

  • Any one interested in Dillinger, look for my new book on Amazon listed under DILLINGER, The Hidden Truth - RELOADED

  • Why would Dillinger stick around after becoming so wanted by the FBI bothers me. I remember him mentioning in Public Enemies he would have to go further away than Cuba. Extradition was not as big back then as it is today. I would head to Costa Rica.

  • @liondoghound The real Dillinger had actually planned to leave the country, after one more big job, which was going to be a train robbery, but he was killed before the robbery took place.

  • @Dillinger72234 NOT WITHOUT LEAVING HIS "BLACK BIRD" BEHIND!!! Yeah, he tried to flee into Mexico but the FBI or someone was watching the borders from Texas all the way to Arizona

  • @animeloverryan85 The real Dillinger actually did whisper some words to Melvin Purvis, but the special agent said he could not understand what Dillinger said. Dillinger loved Billy Frechette. He was also married to my great aunt Beryl Ethel Hovious...she was his ONLY wife. I interviewed her before her death. This interview is in my book. Best, Tony Stewart. Author DILLINGER, THE HIDDEN TRUTH - RELOADED

  • @animeloverryan85

what did he mean with bye bye blackbird?

  • @pk1v3ngeance Watch the movie again, that's actually a song, it must have been THEIR song or something like that

  • @pk1v3ngeance

Bye Bye Blackbird ment bye bye billy frechette.

  • I don't condone crime in any way shape or form, but there was never any solid proof that Dillinger killed anyone. Since we cannot prove this, we can't legally say he is a killer. After years of research for my book Dillinger, The Hidden Truth - Reloaded...I don't believe he ever killed anyone. It wasn't his style.

  • @Dillinger72234 He did kill one person, a police officer. He aimed low to hit the man's legs but as he fell the slugs killed him. There were a lot of criminals around then worse than Dillinger but J. Edna(intentional spelling) Hoover conveniently was "unaware" of them. He only acknowledged the existance of organized crime in 1963 after Joe Valachi spilled the beans to the Feds. Then he had but little choice after being pressured by Bobby Kennedy. Hoover was an arrogant power hungry jackass.

  • @8301968

Don't be fooled by the Myths of Dillinger. After reviewing 10,000 FBI files and 30 years of research, I can say with certainty that Dillinger DID NOT kill Officer Patrick O'Malley in East Chicago. It was proved in 1934 by Indiana State Police Captain Matt Leach that that Dillinger was in Florida during the only murder he was ever accused of. Author Tony Stewart - Dillinger, The Hidden Truth - RELOADED

  • @Dillinger72234 Pretty hard to dispute your credentials. I guess what I quoted was the popular and much-quoted version. Were you ever able to interview "The Chewing Gum Lady" who was at the Greencastle, IN bank when Dillinger robbed it? I recall reading an interview with her some years back. Thanks for the clarification and and thanks for a reply devoid of the too-often name-calling, insulting profanity laced replies too many persons seem compelled to post. Was Leech the one Dillinger called

  • @8301968 continued.. "you stuttering Bastard"?? If so, was it over a telephone or in a letter? I'd like to read your book, where can I find a copy. My late Mother talked about Dillinger quite a bit, having been 18 in 1934 and well aware of his exploits. Machine Gun Jack McGurn was another she was familiar with and made reference to his Blonde Alibi" Louise Rolfe.

  • @8301968 Yes, I interviewed Edith Browning (The Chewing Gun lady) and Gordon Sayres (both diseased) who were both present during the Greencastle robbery. Sayres' story was more accurate. Pierpont jammed a sawed-off shotgun in his back and forced him back to the vault. He told me all the details of the robbery, whereas Browning only seen a glimpse of the robbery from the second floor before hiding in her office. The interview is in my book. Yes, it was Leach that Dillinger called. Best, Tony

  • @Dillinger72234 Wow, you have been privy to some history. Another question...Was it the Greencastle robbery where Dillinger vaulted over the counter and earned, at least for a while, the title of "The Athletic Bandit"?? Too bad I don't know you personally, I have an old photograph of a relative long deceased who bore a striking, almost eerie resemblence to Dillinger in that particular photo. In fact this person was just 3 years older and lived lived near John's "area of employment".

  • he done to the banks wot the banks done to the people.Srange how things don,t change,it was sad hearing his dad talkin after john death.r.i.p

  • looks a little like Bruce Willis......seriously my mother always said everyone was scared of Dillinger back then....I guess everyone was relieved when he was killed.

  • Comment removed

  • dillinger will forever be remembered as a hero to some people and a villain to others but in my book if it was me back then i would of robbed with him

  • Back in the days Chicago was a haven for outlaws!

  • these types of criminals are not interested in killing, they will if necessary but it's not their goal.

  • I agree with willandshaylin2008...Dillinger was a bank robber and master escape artist, but he wasn't a killer. There were killers in the Dillinger gang, but John Dillinger was never convicted of a single murder. There is no evidence that he ever killed.

  • @Dillinger72234 Not. He shot a police officer dead while escaping a bank robbery in Indiana. I saw it on the John Dillinger documentary.

  • @Dillinger72234 i don,t know if dillinger killed anybody or not but like bonnie and clyde he certainly hadent been convicted of such i don,t have much trust by the cops ov them times one thing john was guilty of was being a very loyal man its sad to hear the hurt in johns fathers voice.i look forward to reading your book

  • @hatescoo How gullible you must be. Bonnie and Clyde were considered not even as violent as John Dillinger, and was only convicted of 1 murder with certain circumstances. I don't know what that means though. I didn't take the time to read it all. And anyway, they weren't as big, or well known throughout the nation as John was. They were "small time."

  • @brofranomo All I said was he was convicted of killing "1" cop. Who said anything about B&C?

  • @hatescoo There are a lot of details that Historians Disagree on. The documentary could be wrong.

  • Hist.ory fans note, this is the voice of a man born in 1864. He sounds like any other American speaking. :)

  • dillinger was a product of the times in a lot of ways depression drought banks throwing people of there farms theres no question depression and tough econimic times cause crime dillinger wasnt a murdered yes he broke the law but never intended people to die unlike baby face nelson bonnie and clyde the barker gang these guys where killers that is why the public had such affection for him he stood up to coporate greed and the banks who where throwing people of there farms when the times went bad

  • Do not believe he killed anyone I believe they could have proven his innocense in the O:malley murder, I believe J Edgar Hoover was trying to muddy his name because he was a very popular person RIP JD

  • Just saw public enemies: it sukked, really pitiful movie but its cool that they tried. Its always interesting when you hear real voices like dillinger's dad; awesome stuff. Great post. Voted up.

  • @freenewswire , The book is very good!

  • Anna Sage, was the one who set the FBI for a hit that didn't take Dillinger, Good for her! FBI didn't want to give Anna unconditional asylum as an American citizen, so she set up an other guy for the hit. Search, you'll find that J E Hoover hated Purvis. So,I can see that Dillinger went free, never to rise again. Well, did he live his life to the full, don't know, but he did not die the day they say he did.

  • @MatuArt , It's true that Dillinger was not killed in 1934. In fact he lived in the west for years and by some accounts was in northern California in the "70's.

  • @bwild61 True true true......I'm glad he got away. J E Hoover was a sociopath. Purvis, was the guy that chased him down, put him in jail and said" Your not leaving, your going to the electric chair". Dillinger, broke out.

the man they said was Dillinger, was shot in the back. Purvis committed suicide. He knew what he did was wrong. He knew J E Hoover was wrong. So, he quit and in 1960 something, he took his life, sad but true.

  • @MatuArt

Not only was J.E. Hoover a very bad man...he wore womens' shoes... >_>. Jeez Louise!

  • @bwild61 I knew he lived, but where and what happened to Farchette. How did she live out her life. I hope they were able to hook up.

  • Didn't dillinger's dad physicially abuse him. And his mother died when John was very young.

  • That wasn't John who they killed, according to the new study of

    1. his eyes were blue, the dead amn had brown eys,

    2. the man on the slab had heart disease, John was a young health male of 34, running thru woods from the FBI and they couldn't catch him, hmmmmmm.

Nope that wasn't him on the slab of death. They never did say who was killed that night, other than taking a victory they knew wasn't theirs. Maybe that's one reason Purvis took his life........

  • @MatuArt whos purvis again?

  • @RAMJAWZ Purvis was the agent that J E Hoover put it charge of tracking down Dillinger. In the movie he aw the one who shot Pretty Boy Floyd

  • @MatuArt when he died he whispered to the man that shot him to tell his girlfriend billy "bye bye blackbird"

  • @RAMJAWZ .......That was a movie line, very effective, huh?

  • @MatuArt , Ya! Purvis killed himself in 1961 after Dillinger called him to say hi!! Wow!

  • if it wasnt for that prostitute of anna sage or whatever that whores name is, they would have never found john dillinger

  • @Luis32323232 the sad thing is the FBI betrayed her and deported her anyways. Thats why you dont talk. Well I am too much of an idiot to commit crimes in the first place so I dont have to worry about it. Theyd catch me in about 2 seconds.

  • dillinger was not a killer. the trumped up allegations of killing an east chicago police officer were made to substantiate the crude manhunt by the BOI.

  • dillinger might have shot one or to people that was in his way. but not in cold blood. I bet he was just like a modern robin hood.

  • @Ijustcam123 he was only said to have shot one person

  • I agree to some of what most of you said in here. But dont forget people like Nelson, Kelly, bonnie n clyde and Dillinger, Killed alot of innocent people for no reason. I agree the ploiticians have been royally screwing things up for alot of us. My self included. But thats no excuse to go out and killed people and take whats not yours. If you dont like whats going on, Do something to change it, Dont just bitch about it. I cant find work either, so im going back into the service after 20 years.

  • Actually, Dillinger was never convicted of a single murder, but the others did. I don't believe he was a killer. Thanks,

    Tony Stewart, author

    Dillinger, The Hidden Truth-Reloaded

  • fuckin rights he was a killer, shut up.....

  • @UnleashedPitz oh yeah? were you there to prove that idiot

  • @408HONDAK20 stupid fuckkk, i dont need to prove it, everyone knows it, stupid little bitch hahahahaahha

  • @Dillinger72234 there is no doubt that dillinger wasn't a cold blooded killer, meaning he never viciously executed anyone, but that doesn't change the fact that many died as a result of his actions and possibly by his bullets. So yeah, he needed to be taken down.

  • Nobody respects authority in todays world ,to much corruption from judges to lawyers to police to correctional offices and staff. SO sad what money and power will do

  • John Dilinger's dad beat him,or thats what it said in that Public Enemies movie

  • Hoover was a sexual deviant, butt raped little boys, cross dresser...... so much for respect of authority!

  • The government could take your farm, the banks could absolutely steal your money (and did) but these guys were painted to be monsters. HOOVER was a LOW LIFE. These people simply grew tired of playing by different rules (class system BS) and going hungry while the robber barons thrived and grew fatter by the day!!!!

  • @netsiren: Yep, and things are getting to be like that again. I don't blame Dillinger, and others like him for doing what they did, I'd do the same thing rather than starve. People go hungry, while the shit heads in government live high on the hog as they say.

  • they let out people who rape and kill but wanted him locked up for that come on it was unfair i think he would of done better for his dad helping him so much i feel so bad for his dad. wish he would of stayed and helped his family without doing the other stuff he did. good people crack sometimes.

  • Wasn't beating your child pretty common in the old days anyway, so therefore not a big deal?

Anyway, what fueled Dillinger the most was that he got a 20 year jail sentence for robbing a grocery store $150 (probably more like $600 nowdays). This was a relatively small crime. So injustice only fuels more crime and rebellion, especially someone who was already naturally more fearless than the average person. I love Dillinger!

  • I don't think it would be worth $600 Nowadays. I think it was the laws back then that screwed him over.

  • in the movie public enimeis john dillenger says his father beat him as child because he didn't know a better way to raise him.

  • His father never did eat him, that was a fabrication from the movie. His Father tried to bring him up well but he was a rebel

  • @Zakisback1 they changed some things in the movie.

  • any oen wanna get some tommy guns and rob a bank on dillingers bday :D

  • @X9000BulletsX i wouldnt mind

  • The gun was made out of the wood of the old style washboards.

  • Well, not sure about that one,as I have some training in this field and even I wouldn't second guess. I suppose only God knows the real answer to this one..lol

    ~Kim

  • :-) Studying his life one could see he fit the profile pretty well.

  • There used to be a Dillinger museum in Nashville Indiana. I visited it once and found it very interesting and a bit morbid. It isn't there now and I'm not sure what happened to it. It may have been moved to Mooresville? I remember it having some actual Dillinger items in it , even the gun carved from soap he used to escape jail with was there. It seems to me I saw some footage of Dillinger's Father once and he pronounced their last name differently. Anyone else seen this?

  • I too thought the museum was a bit eerie, but I believe that is the essence that the owner, Joe Pinkston was trying to portray. It's now located in Hammond, Indiana. And the gun was of wood, not soap. Lastly, You probably heard his father pronounce it with a "hard G" as in Dill-in Ger. I have heard Pinkston pronounce it this way, not sure about his (Dillinger)father though. Thanks for your thoughts-

    ~Kim Stewart

  • soap? I heard it was wood

  • I visited this museum one week after the long time owner, Joe Pinkston, killed himself. This was back in 1995 or 96. I was doing some research on Dillinger for a personal project, and I had talked to him the week before on the phone, explaining my visit. He was a very nice man, but evidently his wife did him a number and he couldn't take it anymore.

  • @mrmcgregor2000 it was carved from a washboard

  • What is he talking about? He created him! Then he is sorry! That is not the way!

  • well im sure he did not raise him to do what he did so he is saying sorry for his sons actions

  • Dillinger talked in a low tone voice, but I've have never actually found any recorded tapes with his voice, only his father's.

  • true, i've read a good amount of details regarding his speech and demeanor...that's wild, thanks for the response

  • are there any recordings of Dillinger's voice? I've been reading Dary Matera's book and I'm dying to know what he sounded like, if available.

  • "stick em up johnny" isnt that what they yelled before they shot him or did they just up and do?

  • Its now a well known fact that Dillinger never robbed a bank or did anything illegal. This, according to Clem Bifford's new biography, "What Dillinger Said". For more info, see the clip of the same name at my youtube page.

P.S. - apparently he WAS a litter bug though.

  • Johnny Depp is making a movie about this guy in Mooresville,Mooresville is like 15 minutes away from where i live,i used to live there too,so thats exciting for me

  • He was a kickass

  • John Dillinger was my uncle somewhere on the line.

  • im trying to find Homer VanMeter clips films pictures, im a VanMeter and from indiana.

  • Hello, my name is 7ony Stewart - author of Dillinger, The Hidden Truth. I am also writing about Homer Van Meter. There is lots of info on him in my book. I don't have any video footage...only pictures. Contact me directly at my AOL address at Dillinger72234

  • Are you related to Homer? If so I would like to hear what actually happened when he got shot. I need more information as I am going to write about Dillinger's other pals.
