  • Saw her in Swan Lake in Toronto this past March. Was in absolute awe of her, she was absolutely perfect. Unbelievable performance!

  • I don't know anything about selection at ballet schools, so excuse my ignorance. But I wanted to ask: What is the purpose of having the little girls topless when auditioning for ballet school? Can they achieve the same purpose wearing a bra top or sports bra? Just asking :D ~Thanks <3

  • @TheHoliday555 i'm sort of as clueless as you but i think it might have to do with the fact that the girls auditioning are around ten years old, so a factor may be developing breasts, since ballerinas are usually flat chested, since breasts flopping around on stage would be unsightly for such a strict and graceful art. and maybe parents trying to get their daughters in may try to bind their daughter's chest?

  • @TheHoliday555 and @YouGoOutBruiseYellow - I believe they're looking for deformities in the spine, and that sort of thing. I guess it's just easier without that extra layer on.

  • Ella es una de las mas iconicas y vigentes del Kirov, de las mas grandes del mundo

  • Ballerina has her in it, at the Kirov, GREAT doc. It is streaming on Netflix and in English.

  • omg these things really happens?

  • It's an absolute scandal to see how they treat children in this way. Ballet is a beautirtiful and very worthy art-form but this just goes too far

  • @huddsskin Seeing that scene for the first time really shocked me too. After i realized the purpose of what they were doing to those girls whetherI agree with it or not. it looks like they're breeding dancers instead of training them.

  • she is my favorite ballerina of all... i <3 her so much its awesome that theres a documentary of her online....i want to meet her in person so badly

p.s - is that alina somova in the back ground???? lol at around 6min??? her developpe caught me off guard

  • she is my favorite ballerina of all... i <3 her so much its awesome that theres a documentary of her online....i want to meet her in person so badly

  • what a wonderful and sad dream-like video this is. i wish all the best for uliana! she is my favourite ballett dancer.

  • Thank you so much!Uliana is a very rare ballerina, one of those you wil never forget. You can feel all her sensibility in her movements,

  • with the fucking inbred southerner hick americans the scenes with the young girls is seen as "child pornography" while to the rest of the ADULT world we see poor girls being corraled like cattle for an "objective" "selection".......

  • It looks like the title of this (loosely translated) is:

Uliana Lopatkina - Dances from Every Day and Celebrations

  • So crazy how little girls' bodies look just like little boys before they develop... just an observation. I think Lopatkina has struggled and prevailed!

  • she looks very ill, where is the spriit in so much restraint?

  • @katievhoneychurch she's probably frustrated, as she is still recovering from ankle surgery and has not danced for the past 3 years!...but she does look quite pale and a little weak in this video. Hopefully she gets better because she really is on of the best Odettes I have ever seen! <3

  • @skbfamiliar - this documnetary is called Prima Ballerina. The documentary with Diana vishneva, Alina somova, as well as these 2 dancers is called Ballerina.

  • Even with her baby, she's just like a swan.

  • @DameDeMask Agree, I know in the end they are just people but they seem so mythical to me. She looks so ethereal in this clip I love it. :)

  • joder!! eso si que es un lujo, ensayando con orquesta!!!! cuando españa rozará la suela del zapato a rusia en ballet?¿? supongo que NUNCA , y es una lastima.

  • what a cute baby! (uliana's that is)

  • e crios qu'elles sont tres minces

    peut-etre ont anorexique

ou queque chose ca mon dieu

  • oh mon dieu

la disipline est mieux que l'ecole de paris

  • do u know what the name of this documentary is? i'm looking on amazon for a documentary on her, and there is one called Ballerina, and another called Prima Ballerinas.

  • @skbfamiliar

It's Russian documentary so I don't know if it has English title.

  • @looovecats

this is driving me crazy watching this without knowing what they are saying! :(

thanks for uploading though. it's nice to watch, all the same.

  • @skbfamiliar bth of them have parts on her, however not the whole thing is of her :)

  • @skbfamiliar There is a documentary on Netflix called "Ballerina" heres a summary,

Filmmaker Bertrand Normand's fascinating documentary profiles five outstanding Russian ballerinas from the prestigious Mariinsky Theatre (Kirov), following them from grueling rehearsals to flawless performances around the globe. Dancers in the spotlight include gifted 18-year-old Alina Somova, the newest Mariinsky ballerina, along with Svetlana Zakharova, Evguenya Obraztsova, Diana Vishneva and Uliana Lopatkina.
