This clip and the Preakness are two great ones to see him passing everybody. I wish there was a clip that had 'eyes' on him for the Kentucky Derby. You can't see him for several seconds but you know he's passing everyone. Gosh, I wish we could have seen him run as a 4 y/o. I feel like he was just beginning to show what he was capable of. No telling what we would have seen. I so love this horse! ♥
I loved Zenyatta and the way she would do the same but he makes her look slow. I'm a Brit but I take my hat of to the USA and this fellow who in my mind was the greatest racehorse of all time.
@cf Thanks for posting this! I'm fortunate to go to Saratoga most Labor Day weekends with my father, and this year should follow that pattern. Not sure I'll ever see one like this, but Rachel Alexandra's win in last years Woodward was quite thrilling! In Tom Durkin's words "Rachel Alexandra raises the rafters here at the Spa!" Every April when I look back at my programs, it amazes me how many of the maidens (even that don't win!) are in TC contention. Watching these videos reminds me of that.
The rush he makes in this race showcases not only his great speed, but also his power, as he did it on his own and so quickly that it left even Ron Turcotte stunned. It's amazing that he had the lead before they even came out of the turn, and you can see that there was absolutely no sign at all of fatigue. The rest of the field had no chance whatsoever at that point, and they were all driving!

It's so cool to see old Saratoga races, since I spend summer weekends there.

Yes, Turcotte was one blessed man to ride that "tremendous machine." It was a phenomenal performance, especially for a 2YO.
