Actually all my coaches say that Ma Lin is very good at hiding spins, or also known as fake spin shots, although most of the time, proffesional players might see it, but it do at least works 1-2 balls in 15 shots. That is alot of points if you calculate... average 18 shots in a 11-7 match, 2.5 points win, 2.5 x 5 matches 12.5 points, enough to win a game! and 2/11= around 16% less effort to win the game

Noopy1993 my coach has the petr korbel blade and i would say that it is a great blade... however im not really familiar with striver g3.... He uses petr korbel with DHS hurricane 2 and its fast.... It sounds like a good combination but then again im not sure...

A lot of Ma Lin's points were unforced errors by Liquin. It happens to everyone, sometimes you just have an off day.

@preppyposer - think about what you just said. "part of Ma Lin's game plan is to create unforced errors". That would make them "forced errors". That's part of EVERYONE's game plan. Liquin just missed a lot of stuff he normally makes. That makes them unforced errors. And a bunch of unforced errors that an athlete normally doesn't make IS the definition of an off day. It happens to everyone.

Ma lin loop, topspin is really strong and fast, he really became better and better, Ma lin anticipation its amazing, the pen holder backhand (RPB) its amazing too, last years he almost block in his backhand, and now he uses more RPB :D amazing!

Too bad Wang Liqin is getting older. Won 3 championships..one of the best players of all time. Funny though, that Ma Lin, who is only one year younger dan Wang, always became better and better. Kong Linghui started to go downwards when he was 26/27 (he also looked so old @ the WTTC 2005 against Zoltan Fejer Konnerth), Wang @ 29..but I think Ma Lin nowadays is better than the Ma Lin in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 or what so ever...

Wang Liqin is getting old, and to be in the top 5 at his age, it's very good. It's just that as DuchDoby said, he's losing his aggressiong and motivation because he used to beat Ma Lin in the older days. And he was number one for a long time back then.
