  • Rename it?

  • Wtf's this shit. That sucked anal beads.

  • Still struggling with what a class is. Ive heard it be described as a piece of code to an object to a handler.

How long does it normally take one to figure enough out to be able to do anything besides copy and paste some one elses code?

  • @MrKevMan a class a\is basically a group of objects with the same properies, i thank..

  • Yeah, intro...

  • what part was the intro? 0:07?

  • I did many complicated things in AS 2.0 and this was one of the largest, most frequent roadblocks to achieving my goals. It made no sense the crap you had to do to make things work. How many times did I have to drag pointless 'reference' Movie Clips into existence off stage to create dynamic content? Lots. And how bad did these suck at doing normal programming things? Pretty bad.

  • This isn't an intro. You should title it more appropriately.

  • intro my ass

  • Awesome!!! Thanks Buddy.

  • Ironic, my last name is also Perkins, am a Web Designer....creepy.

  • awesome video, I found it really useful!

  • How to see if a txt file file exists???

    in ActionScript 3.0??

  • I'm a little disappointed that it took five and a half minutes to give one line of code and a placed object that I can't do anything with. This 'introduction' to ActionScript 3.0 was a single code lesson.

I didn't hear whether '_mc' was a required extension in the code because there wasn't a whole lot of clarification regarding naming conventions as they apply to code (i.e. what's optional and what's required for the ActionScript 3.0 to function as desired?).

  • practically all you did is discribe ONE feature of AS3. how is this a intro to AS3?

  • i have seen some of his videos .. he is great tutor .. !!

  • Nice! one thing is there are lots of people who have never used AC2.0 and its very confusing

  • makes no difference

  • @cawlef It's state clear that it's intro to as3 not as in generaly.

  • The singular of 'parenthesese' is 'parenthesis' not 'parenthese'

  • "Intro to actionscript?" I have not got a clue and still haven't. Thanks

  • Excellent.

  • great explenation ! i finally found what i was looking for, it was very usefull.

  • um no its compiled faster than AS2. Its syntax is better and allows for better typing practice and includes alot more functions for things such as 3D

  • I'm trying to learn AS 2.0.

Now we got AS 3.0. Oh Drats man!

  • Dude, your voice owns. Lol.

  • Good info, however "intro to actionscript 3.0" doesn't really capture the nature of your video. It more of a fix to problem you had in the past...

  • This tutorial is phenomenal. I'm new to actionscript but not new to scripting languages; this was the key I needed. All my movies/symbols will be classes. Easy and awesome.

  • I don't understand all this class stuff.

I still think attachMovie in 1.0 is more simple

  • and how i get my movieclips dynamically from my library?, i want to make a bucle and have different position for each mc, in as2 was very simple but i cant in as3

  • thanks. I'm subscribing. hope to learn more from you.

  • Death to actionscript 2!!!

  • Don't say that. AS2 was good.

  • I know I am missing the point, but you can do it in one line in AS2... attachMovie("face", "face", 667).

    ;)

  • can you make me a script for 3.0 actionscript for a rotating object?

  • I tried it with all your instructions, it doesnt work.

    I keep getting this error:

1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant:Face.

1180: Call to possibly undefined method Face.

    :(

  • I wonder if you have the object Face like in the tutorial, don't think you typing the same codes above youre gonna bring that from youtube! ;)

  • It would have worked ... it probably just created the symbol off the stage area.

Just check the registration of MC you created.

  • yeah mine worked too, but only showed a little bit because it was mostly off the stage area. :(

  • make sure that you named the class "Face" and not "face". it's case sensitive.
