All true Martial Arts come from Evolved True Human beings and their highly Evolved cultures, not this semi Human, Evolution forsaken negroid, Monkey missing links.. Egypt was Caucasian and their Martial Arts were Spiritual, just like the Chinese and Greeks.. Negroids could not invent anything except AIDS.. Now there is something that REALLY comes from negroids.. and Apes...
why do black people have to put their race into everything. it's called martial ARTS. it's about putting yourself in it. who cares the color of who's doing it.
This is stupid old colored people talking stupid mad cause there colored and don't get no respect childish I am not racist just using the words they did. And Africa has nothing to do with mma or any other martial art it's an evolution just like anything else.
all these people are missing the point of the arts, it should destroy barriers instead of build them, Im ashamed to watch this as a person of color, our ancestors faught for equality not supperiority
At what point does race determine anything? To say I do something better or worse based only on my color, thats stereotyping. Stereotyping can be racist. Judge on skill not color.
so if a white guy said that itd be all "omg you racists" but its ok to be racists if your black? cmon... and honestly maybe where you live / train that is the case, but where i live / train there are many "white" people and we train and fight just as hard as any other race... and yes we train with other races.
Only thing I don't like about this video is that it's far too focused on race. Also it's called Kung Fu's best kept secrets but it shows primarily that it is about blacks and latinos. It gives the assumption that blacks and latinos are kung fu's secret weapons lol.
So yeah, I just don't like that it's so race and sterotype focused. But it's positive sterotypes at least.
@gdman121 thank you, look at chuck norris or van dam. they are not black or even chinese but they great influential martial artists. it is wonderful to see anybody take up martial arts no matter where your from as you become family in a way. :)
I don't care about the race or ethnicity of these persons. What I care about is their level of skill, which is world class. The proof is in the eye. You see what they can do. The people in this vid are just excellent. Some are hewing quite closely to tradition, others are expanding upon it. But the level of practice in this vid is as high as you will see. Thanks for posting!
Martial artists are from every race, gender, age and physical ability. If so many people around you call you racist as you've said then it is time to question your own views.
A lot of negative feed back. Well I'm Korean and I notice when it comes to the states a lot more Black are into martial arts. That's just real shit , How muslims re-educated the Europeans on science and math. If it wasn't for a lot black martial artist, styles would have gone forgotten. Shit , I appreciate it. Jhoon Rhee showed Ali some moves and years down the road my friends showed me the shuffle. Each one teach one. Ownership is key though. If it don't fit you don't wear it.
yall so stupid... kung fu is in our blood... you westerns were tought only... don't get it twisted... you learn a few punchs and kicks, and now you think you "KNOW", kung fu...lol... so, western of you people... Have you forgotten about Bruce Lee?
funny I thought kung fu's best kept secret was the shaolin monks who I know would tool these guys in this video, there is some racial underside to this guys statements... I trained muay thai and the white guys were fighters too so race doesnt determine ones skill in fighting go watch some k1 or muay thai matches... white people catch a bad rep from way down their family tree for stuff they had nothing to with, stop acting like white people are all evil and racist thats a dumb way of thinking...
so i applaud these men for keeping chinese MA relevant as regards to actual combat not just philosophy, because remember just because one philosophies about combat on the battlefield doesn't make them a warrior, they're just a theorist. forms are gorgeousn they serve a TRAINING PURPOSE, but they r no substitute for actual full contact sparring. n this is the philosophy n which i trained under my Lao-shi(Dr. Lu, Mei-Hui), n its the same way i train my son n daughters. thnx for your time....
@o0206XingYiQuan0o I really really respect your opinion. And I have a question, what if someone wants to learn martial arts for only fun? What if someone wants to learn martial arts only to be able to fight like a monster? To get rid of his energy? Would you recommend trying to learn a martial arts for that? (sorry if I possibly offended someone by saying that)
@BeatySword IMO The answer to all of your Q's can probably be answered in 1 explanation. being that we all come into MA for our own reasons(many of them you already stated) I believe that over time we become molded into the philosphy of our own personal MA school which later thru growth n experience meshes w/ your own values n outlook on life. some may come to fight, yet leave peaceful. others for fun, yet leave w/ the ability to defend themselves etc. etc.
@BeatySword just remember that if you do decide to train, take it as serious as you would any other discipline(i.e becoming a doctor, lawyer etc.). because what some see as sport, at one time decided the fate of empires and kingdoms before the advent of guns. like my Laoshi says, "we learn to fight, so we dont have to fight. Because its better to have the ability and not need it, then to need it and not have it". hope this helps w/ your your own personal journey in the matrial world
because u cant claim to be a master because another has givin u some sort of instructors permit, yet not be ready to show & prove your skill @ the drop of a hat like the masters of old had to do on almost a regular basis. thru showing & proving it kept the art innovativly evolving. a river always keeps flowing maintaining its freshness, to do otherwise wouldd make it still water, which is stale n stagnent.
for those that r coming here to bash these chinse boxers, claiming they are not "real" martial artist r diong a discredit not only to themselves, but boxing as a whole. living in a world where the majorities seem to think that mma is the truth, these gentlemen(n i dont see many more) are begging to differ. not just philisophically, physically. ppl tend to forget that martial arts IS COMBAT. thus the name MARTIAL(WAR) ART. those that train in MA forms for health reason's imo r enthusiest at best.
You done defending your obvious bias and dishonesty yet? Especially after calling me a " Honkey" ? If you were local , I'd fight you, and your race would not make a damn bit of difference in your loss.
and also this video is bordering on racist, lol to say blacks and latinos are naturally better fighters than whites and asians is ludicrous and i think bruce lee and chuck norris would have something to say about it, WE ARE ALL THE SAME YOU IDIOTS, THIS VIDEO ONLY ENCOURAGES THE IDEA THAT SKIN COLOUR MATTERS, AND ALL THESE RACIST COMMENT IDIOTS I BET IF JUDGE DREDD KICKED DOWN YOUR DOOR AND PUT A GUN TO YOUR HEAD UD CRY "I DIDNT MEAN IT, I JUST PUT A RACIST COMMENT TO GET THUMBS UP FROM RACISTS"
@dades1987 weird. you were going good for a bit until the end. I agree, Bruce Lee and CN would have a big argument about this video. It is very biased for their cause. I am deeply surprised REV. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson did not endorse this video since they are the most racist people in America but since they are black are apparently immune from being racist. truth sucks, but it's still the truth.
What I take from this video is individuals of, particularly the latino and african american communities, practicing martial arts and explaining how it has effected them and their lives. As a white male, I grew up being taught by a born and raised Korean (Taekwondo) and I trained along side all sorts of people. We had differences in color, religion, etc. This video has made me remember one important aspect of my training, when we were in the dojang, we were all martial artists. First and foremost
@TheMartialartsJedi Actually it's not they are talking about their experiences in the martial arts world not only the predjudice again their race but against the very system they practiced. Chinese were always referred to as the weak men of Asia because many people didn't have respect for the system of combat they practiced. As people of color learned these systems in the 70-90s they experienced a type of predjudice against their systems because they were non-Chinese practicing Kung fu.
practice more stop worrying about what colour your skin is . Your martial arts is awesome. Self segregation is still racism there is one race the human race!!
How did this video attract so many "key-board warriors"? Serously, does this video send out some bizarre emanation that calls for the dumbest people due to some error in editing?
Then again, this sort of thing can happen when you leave a twelve/thirteen year old unattended near a computer -_-
Looking forward to this film coming out, definetly getting a top-spot in my collection ^_^
@Bebopchiflow Here is what minorities have to do with this. Like all arts the martial arts is about self expression. Blacks and Latinos are very expressive in this art and this is their story. No different than when the Japanese took Chinese martial arts and adopted their techniques, then they created their own form of self expression through the martial arts and created something unique. The only difference is that when Japanese do it they are admired blacks and latinos are criticized.
@Bebopchiflow What they have to do with it is that most people when they think of martial arts do not think of them being in the black and latino communities. The person who is Chinese created this series to show some of the masters that came out of the 70s era that were not well known. Again you are spreading myths about how disciplined black people are. You don't know how disciplined we are. You are speculating which is wrong.
@Ryooken Did you bother to even read the description of the video? Did you actually know what these guys are about? The documentary states that these guys were able to trascend the poverty and economic diaspora that plague the community and become masters of the art. I suggest you read the description and learn. These guys are legends and I do know some of them personally.
I practice MA. With asian heritage, at first I am going to feel a little concern, and get the feeling who are these outsiders adopting and getting good at eastern martial arts. But reading the body language of the guys in the video, they seem to respect where it is coming from, and I feel they would pay tribute to that. I feel ok about this. Minority people have to fight harder in life; so this is okay. There are white people that are very good MAs. It's a film about minorities and bias.
Martial Arts is a practice of self excellence to the point of enlightenment, not to show off or brag about. These students of Kung Fu and (they are all students no matter how good they may be) Have along way to go to become one with everything as do I. Skill in fighting does not mean you are any better in the other things that play a roll in human lives. Being racist is a child like reaction to oppression. I not offended by this...... i just feel sorry for the wrong path given to these humans.
kung fu is about walking in peace and transcending ego to find alternative solutions for conflicts and quarrels - we learn to fight while hoping to never have the opportunity to use what we've learned. the forms that i saw done in this video were not that spectacularly performed and i'm left feeling that the practitioners possess a superficial understanding of what it is they're actually doing.
I know it must really come off as offensive whe a Black man says that a black person does something better than everyone else. The fact of the matter is we r by nature fighters its in our blood and also we have been put in a stereotypical box for so long that we have to come off as superior. Its hard not to when the world trys to look at you as inferior...walk a mile in our shoes before u try to judge us......
@NubianFist everything you just said makes no sence, and i'm native american and my people are natual fighters and stereotyped as well but that doesn't give me the right to be racist. and you should walk a mile in a blind man's shoes before you judge everyone else, seems like all you see is colors..
it dosnt matter what race you are if you love kung fu and understand the meaning of it anyone can beat anyone it dosnt matter the skin color for example im white and i went undefeated and no body touched me for an entire year and i fought plenty of different people
Total racism and propaganda mixed with martial arts . The comments in this clip inferred that blacks and latinos , when presented with Kung Fu, are somehow better at it than other ethnicities, and that because of martial arts, that they have been discriminated against by" whites and Asians" . Total dishonesty based on unfair and untested theories. This film was not about Chinese martial arts at all. It's about Black and latino supremacy, and it sullies the name of Gung Fu . Shame.
@WTPofRImedia Yes, because we all know this is a perfect world where no one has any history of screwing over innocent populations, and equal coverage of different ethnicity/faith/ideology is always first and formost in any written or recorded work.
give me a break ur only better at football lol come back to me when youve accomplished feats like world domination, won real fights against other world champions like Bruce Lee did and is the pound for pound greatest Manny Paquiao not mayweather
Blacks n Latinos are sooo much better at physical sports than whites n Asians cuz they're civilizations and race have conquered two thirds of the world like the Romans, British, Germans, Mongolian Huns, oh wait they didn't they weren't even able to fight for their own land
I remember when black comedians could say racist jokes in the 90s and we would let it slide BUT HERES A REALITY CHECK OLDER GENERATIONS IT MAKES US UNCOMFORTABLE YES EVEN YOUR AFRICAN AMERICAN KIDS A LOT OF MY FRIENDS SAY THEY ARE EMBARRASSED IT'S NOT COOL ANY LONGER well just making a point oh and FYI Spanish people are of European decent they colonized south America that's why a lot of them look white so black people don't have more of a connection with Spanish people white people do!
Black people seriously! You can't still say the man is holding you back when you yourselves insist on continuing negative way of thinking. When you say black people this black people that is it really any different from saying WHITE POWER! We have a black president for crying out loud I'm 22 and kids of my generation don't see color, it's not weird to see interracial couples it's the older generations still thinking negative not to say it isn't around but it's not as prevalent. I remember when
What makes a Great Martial artist is their dedication to the style and art! There are Shaolin Masters That can get creamed by an Aikido Master and that Aikido master can get creamed by a Capoeria Master and the Capoeria master get Killed by a American Boxer!!! This is the whole point of JKD it incorporates all forms and style's to 1 degree or another... Bruce Lee Took the Foot work of BLACK Boxers and made it the Staple of his WORLD renowned Fighting Style. So KILL all That racial Pride!
It's shameful when those that cry racism are the first to discuss race in a negative light. It's especially shameful when this is done within martial arts becaue we normally don't let such things get in the way of the art due to the honor code and respect that we martial artist live by and teach.
I am glad that I had the chance to see this but I'm saddened by the negative message it sent out...
any skill can be learned by any race gender and age... the experience, time and thought put into it will produce a master in all paths... collaboration is key for evolvement while preserving tradition has its own value... peace
Racist Nonsens Shit! What make you people think youre better in Martial Arts then the chinese? Never heared something that disrespectful and arrogant from a chinese Master.
Have You ever been in China? No, thats what i thought...
Take a look at this kid... youtube.com/watch?v=ViMcEQSNLmI and then STFU
@sooperfukker only white people can be racist. We where good in Africa u European. U people went out of space n tried to kill the navi. C matter what white people bring destruction and disease with them no matter where they lay.I actually like white people. I have 3 white friends n they been to my house 2-3 times so we like family. Just being honest
@sooperfukker whites sold there soul to the devil hats why. N they say the best kept secret because how many Kong fu teachers do you see are black when you walk into a school none. It's a rare look thats all.
SO strange.are these people saying they are the only ones with passion? That is staggeringly ignorant and self-centered. How can you possibly be a true fighter when you are so BLIND to your judgement of others and your inferiority/superiority complex?THIS IS EMBARRASSING to ALL REAL martial artists. Before you give any more advice you better check yourself. I have been a competitive fighter for 7yrs and you are sadly mistaken when you say that a certain skin color makes one a superior fighter.
........... That did'nt make no Gotdamn sense, not even in tha least ..... WTF do wut we wear while fighting or practicing have to do with anything ? ... lol.
@theawakener7 around the globe). Why is it when a so called "black man" puts a claim, or exhibits some pride in anything, here comes someone accusing him of racism, in a system not created by that black man. Just wondering.
@theawakener7 Since we're talking in the language of crayola about the human race, and mankind in general, answer this. Why is it not enough for so called white folks to falsely claim everything under the sun, while looking at all the asiatics around the globe, and dividing them into groups based on language (iN ALL FAIRNESS BLACK FOLKS ARE THE BIGGEST OFFENDERS OF THIS. tHEY SEE THEMSELVES AS they whole heartedly buy in to this lie, while SEPARATing themselves FROM ALL THE OTHER ASIATICS
You're totally right dividing people into White and Afro-Asiatics(everyone else) is SO MUCH BETTER than classifying people based on language and culture. The whole Afro-Asiatic people Idea came from idiots who heard of the Afro-Asiatic language family and thought it was some kind of proof of a common genetic and cultural lineage of African and Asian people. The truth is that Africans, culturally and genetically are as close to Europeans as they are to Asians.
The Brazilians (Gracies and other students of Count Koma) did this with Judo, which at the beginning of the 20th century was being called Kano Ju Jitsu. They learned it from Koma, adapted it to strictly techniques, strategies and tactics on the ground (one part of Judo at the time. Currently ground fighting is deemphasized in Judo) and basically made it their own.
shoalin kung fu all portained grappling usin pressure points
every japanese art be sides traditional okinawan shotokan
was a culturally learned from a peace treaty historically from the chinese 600 ad the year of the shoalin boxers wing chun was a defense system created by female monks according to master yip man
What kind of racist bullshit is this video ? Blacks and hispanics are passionate in whatever they do ? Really ? Where are the whites in this ? Do they rule the world, because of despite their lack of passion ? .. Complete bullshit #FAIL
I guess one could say that an earlier culture played a significant role in the introduction of kung fu by the priest bodaharma who was known to be from india and was thought to be a yogi . As he was the Creator of the original shoalin exercises he played a key part in the developement of kung fu at the shoalin temple.
@taoshyr Indeed Key is an understatement as He was a budist Priest and taught them his ways, but the word kung fu means skilled practice and not Martial Arts, and The Martial Arts of China date back before their first Dynasty which was established via conflict and the oldest form of empty hand fighting is wrestling boxing is second peace
I could as you say be refering to the sumerian empire though I got the distinct impression that it was the chinese who one of the primary organizers of systemic bare handed fighting arts . though as you pointed out they are not the only ones as this would be impossible at that time in history as the planet was rife with conflict.I mean we could go back to the invention of the the earliest conflicts but that would,nt be kung fu.As Africa is one of the oldest places of man they would be first.
I find myself wondering why is it that whenever something, for lack of a better term, "promoting" blacks/latinos comes about, people that claim not to be racist come out the wood work to speak against it? Yet, if you were to do a documentary on Segal or Norris, and someone said "it's racist because it's only about a white person!" they would be looked at as an idiot. Let me leave you with this: "Those that walk with closed eyes will keep running into walls."
I think US has cool people but they are just contained into their ignorance, fed with the only goal to consume. They ignore each other, have 0 general culture and thus they think white, black, yellow, are races... The only thing they know when you want to discuss is football, TV stars, fuck and gay. I am sorry i live in Houston since 2 years and i found all that shit pathetic, really p a t h e t i c americans are sheeps.
@MrsBirminghamInHell It's so pathetic to see a person thinking that "inferiority complex" is the only reason to make a film of this nature. Do we not all tell family stories and listen to things about history so that knowledge can continue? That being the case, why can this not simply be a way convey information, instead of how people keep trying to paint it like it's some big thing of "oh, look, blacks/latinos are the only fighters!"
And this is why we have racism.. If they are not white then they have something to prove to make them .. the best.. or turn it to "their" cultural background. Martial arts is oriental.. but belongs to the world. It was given as a gift to learn, nuture and practice and not used as a weapon for "its better because a black/latino individual took it and made it that way! There is nothing to prove. We are all human.
@Leethorley1 I don't disagree but the root of Martial is MARS the Roman God of War in Kemet He was called Montu, long before the first Dynasty in China War was beign practice thus the Martial Arts did not start in the Orient. However where it started has no bearing on good or bad, unless reckonized by your peers
@FarisiDaniel Sorry to correct you but Martial arts did start in the orient. being a warlord does not make you the author of all things connected to fighting .there were much earlier warlords and dieties of war and they have nothing to do with martial arts which is the systemic creation of moves for health and martial application. this had nothing to do with Roman greek mythology. Also remember Oriental culture is older than roman culture by quite a few years.
@taoshyr By Orient you mean Asia and by before Greece you mean Sumer, or India still by early you mean Kush
either way the concept is clear It did not start with China, although China is well known for her practice of the arts as for health check again that's a side effect not the purpose unless you mean yoga also remember that these war arts as they are based in militart service were past on not all nations had the means to engage in war
@samuraiwarrior1988 not so you might want to look around a deeper before making that comment boxing shows up in crete around 1400 BC, but was found in Sumer 3500 BC and in Ethiopia some 6000 BC. so it depends on your reference point fact is there are depictions of Boxers in Kemet (Egypt) before greece or rome
I think the initial reaction to this video is probably not what the filmaker has intended. The people who are claiming racism and cannot see past that are the true racist here. The truth is, we are all the same yet different and we all learn the lessons of life in our own ways. I am a white/latino man of America...I had a different upbringing then others, different issues. Growing up in America...racism is a big issue. Whether you believe it to be true or not...other people do
@kikme420 Our pasts and upbringings determine the paths we take the the lessons we learn. If ones motivation to become great is through something like racism then so be it...it is but a stepping stone. Don't hate because your own ego feels someone is wrong....they are not you....even if this video is the most racist video you have seen....to be angered by it and to actually try and correct them simply states your own prejudices
@samuraiwarrior1988 I do not argue the contents of this documentary it is what it is; however we learn as we do Boxing was taught by Blackmen as the foundation started in East Africa, as for modern boxing you can thank Bill Richmond for that who open up his school in 1800's in England and taught the sweet sceince, this doesn't mean that whitemen haven't added to boxing or were not good at boxing just corrected you on your FACTS!!! peace
@samuraiwarrior1988 u cnt say we learned to fight from whites or asians, fighting has been around since the birth of man. wht u are proally tryna say is theses forms of fighting we learned from whites and asians, but fighting itself isas old as the concept of time, different styles for diffrent groups exist thru the entire world. the message of this video is the inspiration it serves to many african american people tht search for more then knowing how to hurt a person.
@kroooassant true wrestling minic animals fighting, and indeed apes were a big part of many styles. that being said wrestling is the oldest form so everyone is doing the monkey
wtf ??? fedor emilianenlo is white arian race and he is the best fighter today there are a lot of white fighters i nthe history that are good and they say white people are racists!!
i know alot of latinos and blacks who are NOT passionate, who don't love, learn and embrace things......why can't people just be real? and be a passionate "person" don't add race into the mix. there are good and bad in all ethnic backrounds. please, latinos and blacks are no MORE passionate than any other race, when people like this try to come across as intelligent and profound and are just really alienating themselves from the truth....no one race is better.
I am sorry .. but this is RACIST! ..you are trying stipulate that people of a particular skin colour have a predisposition to excel at something over and above another skin colour.
whatever moral pedestal MLK may have left us on when he was assassinated, something like this completely undoes it.
it looks pretty but its not a practical fighting style, white guys are just as good fighting as any other race. look at the UFC for proof. its about Heart as much as it is Skill and Determination.
Kung Fu is the father of all martial arts and the spirit of martial arts is not about fighting although it is a part of it. Martial Arts is about understanding the elements around you the animals, trees, water, the wind etc., it is with this understanding that we understand humanity and adapt ourselves to resolve any issues before us. Please do not take the Spirit of Martial Arts for your own individualism but use it for it's conformity. We are all one race, the human race.
@MusicforMe123 one may need to look up the word martial (root word is Mar as in Mars the god of war). China is not the oldest Martial Culture on the planet even though it is rich in Martial traditions. As for the humanity part you will hear no argument from me, but the practice of the arts, now there is where the idea comes from those who use the discipline to elevate themselves without the need for War. In all life the principles are the same you choose how to use them. peace
Kung fu is not the father of all martial arts, and Martial arts IS in fact about fighting. The reason the shaolin learned combat systems is to beat the crap out of bandits that attacked their temple for gold. The spiritual side of the Martial arts (Of Asia) come from a Buddhist mindset. You must understand that the fighting skills were made for hurting others, because they needed to, the mindset is from Buddhist philosophy. Every martial art was created from people who needed to beat ass
@GuamKomudo WOW, you need to chill on thoes words, martial arts isn't JUST about beating the crap out of someone. "You must understand that the fighting skills were made for hurting others, because they needed to..." first of all, you don't NEED to hurt someone, and ma weren't made to hurt someone, they were made by people so that they could defend themselves. are you sure that shaolin monks used kung fu to "beat the crap out of bandits"?? in shaolin bhuddism , they don't beleive in hurting any
@MsDumnut ... -thing at all. That's why they are vegetarians. Shaolin kung fu was made so that they could excersise their body to meditate. "the mindset(of beating people up because they need to?) is from bhuddist philosophy"?????
just saying, the people who thumbed up that comment, were wrong...
@sangtawon they were made to hurt people ONLY in a self-defense situation. if it was made purely for hurting and killing, then it is defenitly NOT a martial art. the ones that don't have a shaolin/ daoist root still have the same morals. all true martial arts and martial artists know that they are used to defend and fight for justice, but never to be used to take a life. that is why teachers are always carefull about choosing whom to teach because there are some who, like you, get the wrong
shorin ryu was never taught to the samurai, and barely has anything to even do with samurai. chinese arts, japanese, korean, FRENCH, theyre all THE SAME. a martial artist must know that every martial art in the end comes down to the same thing. if that "martial artist" thought about revenge, he must have been a very novice fighter... have you been watching too many kung fu movies lately? if they designed it for the purpose of killing, then it is just a brute way of fighting, and nothinge else
@MsDumnut I said "Japanese arts" not any specific art.
And a lot of chinese martial arts were used for the sake of killing. They were MARTIAL arts. Ways of fighting in war.
Some arts were developed purely for war. Bak Mei was a monk, he killed a man in an act of revenge for killing his disciple apparently. Doesn't mean he was weak, doesn't mean he went around killing people. Doesn't mean it's not meant for self defense.
I am not saying no style was. But many were for war.
Now there is something that REALLY comes from negroids.. and Apes...

If it don't fit you don't wear it.

funny I thought kung fu's best kept secret was the shaolin monks who I know would tool these guys in this video, there is some racial underside to this guys statements...

(sorry if I possibly offended someone by saying that)
BeatySword 3 weeks ago
@BeatySword IMO The answer to all of your Q's can probably be answered in 1 explanation. being that we all come into MA for our own reasons(many of them you already stated) I believe that over time we become molded into the philosphy of our own personal MA school which later thru growth n experience meshes w/ your own values n outlook on life. some may come to fight, yet leave peaceful. others for fun, yet leave w/ the ability to defend themselves etc. etc.
o0206XingYiQuan0o 3 weeks ago
@BeatySword just remember that if you do decide to train, take it as serious as you would any other discipline(i.e becoming a doctor, lawyer etc.). because what some see as sport, at one time decided the fate of empires and kingdoms before the advent of guns. like my Laoshi says, "we learn to fight, so we dont have to fight. Because its better to have the ability and not need it, then to need it and not have it". hope this helps w/ your your own personal journey in the matrial world
o0206XingYiQuan0o 3 weeks ago
@o0206XingYiQuan0o well said! thnx

because u cant claim to be a master because another has givin u some sort of instructors permit, yet not be ready to show & prove your skill @ the drop of a hat like the masters of old had to do on almost a regular basis. thru showing & proving it kept the art innovativly evolving. a river always keeps flowing maintaining its freshness, to do otherwise wouldd make it still water, which is stale n stagnent.
o0206XingYiQuan0o 4 months ago
for those that r coming here to bash these chinse boxers, claiming they are not "real" martial artist r diong a discredit not only to themselves, but boxing as a whole. living in a world where the majorities seem to think that mma is the truth, these gentlemen(n i dont see many more) are begging to differ. not just philisophically, physically. ppl tend to forget that martial arts IS COMBAT. thus the name MARTIAL(WAR) ART. those that train in MA forms for health reason's imo r enthusiest at best.

@dades1987 weird. you were going good for a bit until the end. I agree, Bruce Lee and CN would have a big argument about this video. It is very biased for their cause. I am deeply surprised REV.
Sevv9220 5 months ago
@TheMartialartsJedi Actually it's not they are talking about their experiences in the martial arts world not only the predjudice again their race but against the very system they practiced. Chinese were always referred to as the weak men of Asia because many people didn't have respect for the system of combat they practiced. As people of color learned these systems in the 70-90s they experienced a type of predjudice against their systems because they were non-Chinese practicing Kung fu.

Bebopchiflow 5 months ago
@Bebopchiflow What they have to do with it is that most people when they think of martial arts do not think of them being in the black and latino communities. The person who is Chinese created this series to show some of the masters that came out of the 70s era that were not well known. Again you are spreading myths about how disciplined black people are. You don't know how disciplined we are. You are speculating which is wrong.
Ryooken 5 months ago
@Ryooken Did you bother to even read the description of the video? Did you actually know what these guys are about? The documentary states that these guys were able to trascend the poverty and economic diaspora that plague the community and become masters of the art. I suggest you read the description and learn. These guys are legends and I do know some of them personally.
Ryooken 5 months ago

Morganslloyd 6 months ago
kung fu is about walking in peace and transcending ego to find alternative solutions for conflicts and quarrels - we learn to fight while hoping to never have the opportunity to use what we've learned. the forms that i saw done in this video were not that spectacularly performed and i'm left feeling that the practitioners possess a superficial understanding of what it is they're actually doing.

I know it must really come off as offensive whe a Black man says that a black person does something better than everyone else. WTPofRImedia 7 months ago
Shame.
WTPofRImedia 7 months ago 22

It's shameful when those that cry racism are the first to discuss race in a negative light. It's especially shameful when this is done within martial arts becaue we normally don't let such things get in the way of the art due to the honor code and respect that we martial artist live by and teach.

SharifMalikEl 9 months ago
@SharifMalikEl

Currently ground fighting is deemphasized in Judo) and basically made it their own.

MicahtheLion75 11 months ago
@MicahtheLion75 take a look at history.... BOXING ????? LOL LOL
taoshyr 10 months ago
And this is why we have racism.. If they are not white then they have something to prove to make them .. the best.. or turn it to "their" cultural background. Martial arts is oriental.. but belongs to the world. It was given as a gift to learn, nuture and practice and not used as a weapon for "its better because a black/latino individual took it and made it that way! There is nothing to prove. We are all human.
Leethorley1 11 months ago
@Leethorley1 I don't disagree but the root of Martial is MARS the Roman God of War in Kemet He was called Montu, long before the first Dynasty in China War was beign practice thus the Martial Arts did not start in the Orient. However where it started has no bearing on good or bad, unless reckonized by your peers

@bloodmofogoku what art
FarisiDaniel 11 months ago
@FarisiDaniel Sorry to correct you but Martial arts did start in the orient. being a warlord does not make you the author of all things connected to fighting .there were much earlier warlords and dieties of war and they have nothing to do with martial arts which is the systemic creation of moves for health and martial application. this had nothing to do with Roman greek mythology. Also remember Oriental culture is older than roman culture by quite a few years.
taoshyr 10 months ago
@taoshyr By Orient you mean Asia and by before Greece you mean Sumer, or India still by early you mean Kush
either way the concept is clear It did not start with China, although China is well known for her practice of the arts as for health check again that's a side effect not the purpose unless you mean yoga also remember that these war arts as they are based in militart service were past on not all nations had the means to engage in war

Whether you believe it to be true or not...other people do
kikme420 11 months ago
@kikme420 Our pasts and upbringings determine the paths we take the the lessons we learn. If ones motivation to become great is through something like racism then so be it...it is but a stepping stone. Don't hate because your own ego feels someone is wrong....they are not you....even if this video is the most racist video you have seen....to be angered by it and to actually try and correct them simply states your own prejudices

you all learn from asian and WHITE PEOPLE!!! EVEN BOXING COMES FROM WHITE PEOPLE!!!
samuraiwarrior1988 11 months ago
@samuraiwarrior1988 I do not argue the contents of this documentary it is what it is; however we learn as we do Boxing was taught by Blackmen as the foundation started in East Africa, as for modern boxing you can thank Bill Richmond for that who open up his school in 1800's in England and taught the sweet sceince, this doesn't mean that whitemen haven't added to boxing or were not good at boxing just corrected you on your FACTS!!! peace
FarisiDaniel 11 months ago
@samuraiwarrior1988 u cnt say we learned to fight from whites or asians, fighting has been around since the birth of man. wht u are proally tryna say is theses forms of fighting we learned from whites and asians, but fighting itself isas old as the concept of time, different styles for diffrent groups exist thru the entire world. the message of this video is the inspiration it serves to many african american people tht search for more then knowing how to hurt a person.

@samuraiwarrior1988 boxing comes from white ppl as much as arabs come from scotland

samuraiwarrior1988 11 months ago
These guys do not represent martial arts any way shape or form, sickening an art reduced down to color and race.
maidenfan36 11 months ago
p.s. "oriental" is the term to refer to an object not a person......black dude in the tacky red and gold vest. you say Asian.
intergalacticpurifyR 11 months ago
i know alot of latinos and blacks who are NOT passionate, who don't love, learn and embrace things......why can't people just be real? and be a passionate "person" don't add race into the mix. there are good and bad in all ethnic backrounds. please, latinos and blacks are no MORE passionate than any other race, when people like this try to come across as intelligent and profound and are just really alienating themselves from the truth....no one race is better.
intergalacticpurifyR 11 months ago 2
Then why no blacks and latinos kicking ass at the wing chung world champs? ..incidentally won by some pasty white american..
I feel nauseous even talking with reference to skin colour .. you guys are really sad and discredit the black man. Your Mommas would be proud ..NOT
morklind 11 months ago
I am sorry .. but this is RACIST! ..you are trying stipulate that people of a particular skin colour have a predisposition to excel at something over and above another skin colour.
whatever moral pedestal MLK may have left us on when he was assassinated, something like this completely undoes it.
Martin Luther King would be turning in his grave.
morklind 11 months ago
it looks pretty but its not a practical fighting style, white guys are just as good fighting as any other race. look at the UFC for proof. its about Heart as much as it is Skill and Determination.

MusicforMe123 11 months ago 11

@GuamKomudo dont forget the daoists
dynastyflygon 5 months ago
@GuamKomudo WOW, you need to chill on thoes words, martial arts isn't JUST about beating the crap out of someone. "You must understand that the fighting skills were made for hurting others, because they needed to..." first of all, you don't NEED to hurt someone, and ma weren't made to hurt someone, they were made by people so that they could defend themselves. are you sure that shaolin monks used kung fu to "beat the crap out of bandits"?? in shaolin bhuddism , they don't beleive in hurting any
MsDumnut 2 months ago
@MsDumnut ... -thing at all. That's why they are vegetarians. Shaolin kung fu was made so that they could excersise their body to meditate. "the mindset(of beating people up because they need to?) is from bhuddist philosophy"?????
just saying, the people who thumbed up that comment, were wrong...
MsDumnut 2 months ago
@MsDumnut 2 things. Some martial arts were made purely for hurting and killing people.
And not all martial arts from China were made by monks.
Not all arts have a shaolin or taoist root. And even some that do were made to be extremely good at killing.
sangtawon 1 month ago
@sangtawon they were made to hurt people ONLY in a self-defense situation. if it was made purely for hurting and killing, then it is defenitly NOT a martial art. the ones that don't have a shaolin/ daoist root still have the same morals. all true martial arts and martial artists know that they are used to defend and fight for justice, but never to be used to take a life. that is why teachers are always carefull about choosing whom to teach because there are some who, like you, get the wrong
MsDumnut 1 month ago
@MsDumnut Ok....
Several things here.
I was referring to chinese arts. Japanese arts a lot of time were taught to samurai who were very corrupt most the time killing alot of innocents...
You have also assumed that I don't practice an art that has these restrictions?
And you believe that never has a martial artist sat there and tried to discover how to kill someone for the use of revenge or something?
What of when a military designed a martial art for the purpose of causing a war?
sangtawon 1 month ago
shorin ryu was never taught to the samurai, and barely has anything to even do with samurai. chinese arts, japanese, korean, FRENCH, theyre all THE SAME. a martial artist must know that every martial art in the end comes down to the same thing. if that "martial artist" thought about revenge, he must have been a very novice fighter... have you been watching too many kung fu movies lately? if they designed it for the purpose of killing, then it is just a brute way of fighting, and nothinge else
MsDumnut 1 month ago
@MsDumnut I said "Japanese arts" not any specific art.
And a lot of chinese martial arts were used for the sake of killing. They were MARTIAL arts. Ways of fighting in war.
Some arts were developed purely for war. Bak Mei was a monk, he killed a man in an act of revenge for killing his disciple apparently. Doesn't mean he was weak, doesn't mean he went around killing people. Doesn't mean it's not meant for self defense.
I am not saying no style was. But many were for war.
sangtawon 1 month ago
@sangtawon I was talking about shorin ryu, and you said that it was taught to the samurai
