This is one of the most Nazi movies I know, completely encoded with subliminal messages. The movie makers obviously knew this, and were well educated in regards to Nazi propoganda.

One of the best movies ever. While Orwell´s 1984 was too abtract, his animal farm was pointing at others and could be abused by those it should have attacked, and highly acclaimed novels like Huxley´s brave new world were way too much out of this world to be a threat to a any existing government, masterpieces lik SST or de Sade´s 120 days of sodom that questioned our own governments and their morals have been looked down to as low pornography or action flicks. So sad.

Well, you have to look at how this movie was packaged and advertised--it was advertised as just another big budget (at the time) blockbuster sci-fi war film with explosions and action. The audiences who bought into it weren't expecting a satire, and most who went weren't watching with their "brains on" so to speak--by that I mean, they weren't watching it as an anti-war satire; they watching it as just another movie with cool effects. As a result, viewers were dissappionted.

@DaddlerTheDalek The book is WAY better though. Basil Poledouris was a great composer, he made this movie a cult classic, yet it does take liberties with the book. Im mean big ones. IE in the Movie, Dizzy is a chick. In the book, Dizzy is a guy.

@lobbotekka2019 Hell no, the book is straight up warlike. The movie is more of a parody than a real adaption. Like I said, the invasion of P ended with one casualty, Dizzy. In the movie, tons of soldiers die. Yet the book is mainly political, not a war book.
