  • You have to have a brain to understand what lupe is saying.

  • lupe+those who listen to him= THE FUTURE

  • i cant believe my dude rapped off an untouched radiohead track. much props to lupe.

  • I'd say this is probably more than sampling.

  • My head automatically bops to this. And it doesn't stop even if I try to make it.

  • My new nickname is Genghis Khan, but without the "ye"

and his last name's (west) my side......BRAIN OVERLOAD!

  • @smokintheblaze explain

  • @jesseclifton "Genghis Khan, but without the ye" separate the two names, Genghis and Khan, and add ye to the Khan. You'll end up with "Khanye," which sounds the name of the famous rapper, Kanye West.

"But his last name's my side" Lupe is from the West Side area of Chicago. It should be self explanatory from here.

  • Screw Wayne, I'm into REAL lyricism, like Jedi Mind Tricks, Wu, Nas, Rakim.......and even Lupe.

  • WhoKilledKenn is so right!! TRUE

  • ALL I GOTTA SAY IS HE GOES HARD AS FUCK!!!....FORGET ALL YALL WHO HATE I BET YALL CANT RAP FOR SH*T!!! NUFF SAID

  • lupe disappointed me with this lasers album

  • @itscheezie15 wasn't his fault

  • @o0CASHBOY0o i hope its the record company like he said.

  • @itscheezie15 it was. But he said the same thing won't happen with F&LII

  • @itscheezie15 you disappoint me with your lack of faith

  • The best verse is the second in my opinion, when he spoke of Civil Diobedience written by Henry David Thoreau. I love that essay.

  • Lupe Fiasco's rendition of the National Anthem > Christian Aguilera's :D

  • ONE OF LUPE'S VERSES HAS MORE WORDS, MEANING, SYLIBLES AND SWAG THEN ANY WEEZY SONG MADE TO DATE!!

  • Ok first off wayne is shit, dont bring up that Carter ll Bullshit he uses ghost writers, dont even try to say he has style, flow and punchlines, O'l Dirty Bastard had style, nate dog had flow, big l had punchlines weezy isnt even close to what they can do. his voice sounds like shit and his metaphors are as deep as a fucking puddle. Lupe is the number one lyricist out there right now and probably one ever, to prove my point listen to failure by lupe and lollipop by wayne.

  • I'm red hot chilli, I'm Anthony keidas.

  • where can i buy this mixtape???

  • you can download it for free, mixtapes are supposed to be free, not paid for, they charge for albums

  • I don’t feel I’m best

    I just feel I’m better than…

omg... now thats unfair lupe ..a modest beast

i was in a library listening to this and shouted out DAMN...

    i love this guy

  • lol i stareted saying But before you bust in her face, finish listenin’ to the tape…

Enemy of the State!! really loud in class and everyone thought i was weird except my friends who also listens to lupe

  • omg this is the shit!! FNF UP!!

  • @connor v. bandit Ah finally, an intelligible comment debate

  • anyone who raps over radiohead deserves props. enough said.

  • @LordDuketheBaron anyone who raps WELL... and I agree with you

  • When i mean shallow i mean that its deeper than making a group of people feel better about life...it is life...more than just a mere expression of things that are in life but life itself....not saying that making people feel good is shallow im just saying that there are deeper things...making music that is enlightening to life and the soul is true lyricism ..something that puts you in a deeper frame of mind...btw your rebuttals are really good

  • To the few idiots who are arguing over whether hes saying im red hot chili(peppers) or im red hot chilly(friend)... its both, double entendre, derrrr

  • 3 people r gay

  • I just came

  • omg he lyrically killed this song my man lupe my favorite hip-hop artist

  • Lupe is so genius that other rappers should feel dumb as fuck listening to him lol!

  • the most fucking amazing lyricist ever the mixtape is proof. XD

  • HOW YOU GONNA SCHOOL ME WHEN I GREW UP WITH YOUR TEACHERS!!! Fire

  • Last verse is mad nice!!!!

  • Big up for a Radiohead beat...

  • Radiohead

  • "I take it back for you like a Wyld Stallyons or San Dimas"

Leave it to Lupe to make a Bill & Ted reference. Just filthy

  • No other rapper could do what Lupe did with this beat.

  • the three fags who disliked: Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka

  • @TheJremy Gucci and his whole clique suck (Waka Flocka, OJ, all them)

    but Wayne is good actually

  • Put simply, those who listen to Lupe are people who want to learn/value knowledge; those who don't are ignorant of Lupe's skill/content with sub-standard rap which MTV generally endorses

  • even though this mixtape came out a while ago, its still lyrically shitting on any song, mixtape, or album out right now. Lupe is one of the coldest whether you like it or not. Listen to him

  • I honestly think that with all the metaphors and his word play, people actually need a class just to comprehend LUPE, the references he makes and all it just amazes me.... i take my time nd try to understand the message that he is trying to convey... i get so excited, like a puzzle that i just figured out. lol

  • @mingey1989 amen

  • mp3iffy works again wooohoooo awesome - google mp3iffy

  • im so excited i found this right now i want to listen to all of the tracks at once.

  • Lupe Fans.....You've been properly prepared throw you hats up in the air!

  • "I blacked out with a black out and I maxed out all the Visas" lmao nice

  • @TomBom52 hes no wear lyrical MC status , But dont Get Me Wrong Wayne can rap, he IS a rapper he flows, delivers, has punch lines, catchy shit Now A Lyrical Mc. NEVER in a million years!!! but he is a good rapper. Am I a fan, nope I like lyrical rap rather than that but to each is own.

  • @WhoKilledKenn

very true and very well explained.

  • Comment removed

  • @ElectricConnor I would define Lyrical as...

Something that has a true or Real meaning to life as of now.

im not talking about struggles in the hood or how you came up.

but Very smart wordplay and Combining or Comparing real life events with an Problem in life. Lyrical is From the Soul..

  • @WhoKilledKenn lyrical to me would be flow, delivery, rhyme scheme, metaphors, punchlines, storytelling, word play etc.

i dont think content has much to do with lyricism.

Big L rapped about many of the same topics and is regarded as one of the best lyricists of all time.

  • @WhoKilledKenn YESSSS, having VERSES and having LYRICS are two different things...

Wayne got verses (stuff that might sound nice together maybe have a single target audience) but lupe has LYRICS. (a.k.a content and wordplay that has a universal bonding with various audiences...)

Represent for actual HIP HOP AND RAP!

  • @WhoKilledKenn other wise everything tht wayne isnt

  • @WhoKilledKenn your definition is stupid anyone can be lyrical even if they dont rap about "Life" cant beleive dipshits gave u 5 thumbs up for that

  • @Pw1821

As Souls Of Mischief put it: It comes down to ability/technique, creativity/originality, influence over hip hop/rap (This is why Wayne is not consider one of the top 25 best rappers) legacy and the message/point of what they are rapping about. Tell me how wayne applies to any of those. He has no ability he sounds like he's talk-rapping. His style is a directly influence by Jay-V. His influence is about as much as Nelly's. hah Legacy? defer to last answer. and messgae -

  • well i guess his message is deeper than J-Kwon but really is he a vivid as Mos Def, Tu Pac or Biggie? Hell don't forget Krs One. I mean when you are talking about the best rappers ever can you even entertain the idea of lil wayne? I'll answer that for you...its a no

  • @WhoKilledKenn don't "struggles in the hood" count as a problem in life? many of Waynes songs are real things that have happened, and he has re-told them in a way that millions upon millions enjoy. if an audience enjoys the lyrics and the audience finds them to be creative and beautiful in a sense and the lyrics do in fact at least relate to real life happenings than is that not lyrical?

  • @ElectricConnor But Waynes songs are not uplifting or intellectual in any way shape or form...a lyricist will make you think and try to divulge the information that he is trying to express in his lyrics..Wayne has hard punchlines..true but he is not complex or uplifting to mind or body...he exploits cultures with the negative concepts in his songs and produces an overall outlook on that concept..hes dope no lie but i wouldnt put him in the same category as Lu, Nas,AZ,Talib,Mos and some others

  • @YungBandit im not trying to put him that category, but not a lyricists are "uplifting" ... in the purest definition of the word lyricist wayne fits the mold. eveyone can have there own definition of lyricism and thats fine because thats what they enjoy in lyricism. but if you're going by the book, i count some of his music as lyrical.

  • @YungBandit *** not all lyricists are uplifting

  • @ElectricConnor when i mean uplifting i mean in an enlightened way not something so shallow as making someone or a group of people feel better...

  • @YungBandit making people feel something is a part of what music as a whole is about though so i dont see how that's shallow.

  • @WhoKilledKenn I would define Lyrical as...Eminem

  • @BradyMoss2 lupe fiasco is better than eminem, easily. but there both good in there own way.

  • @WhoKilledKenn wtf thats bs. real life events with a* problem in life? hood struggles dont count to you? yet you listen to hip hop? wayne does that too he dissed the fuck outta bush when he was in office

  • @AfroTits but who didnt diss bush? even his own admin. dissed him bad example...

  • @ElectricConnor Tha Carter II is underrated. Wayne's finest work, even beatings out of his good mixtapes. After Tha Carter II, Wayne failed to be lyrical in the least for the most part.

  • @ImthaOne100 agree 100%. his flow used to be so clean...

  • @ImthaOne100

its scary people even say there was a high point for lil waynes lyricism. He was always trash as a real hip hop mc. As a rapper you know like Jay's status selling records getting paid sure he has been real good at that.....

  • @ElectricConnor Real talk...but his mixed tapes is dope too tho. He got emcee shit in him....he just wack currently...but Carter2 is crazy sick.

  • @ElectricConnor

I am sorry but Wayne copies Jay Z and Jay Z copies Biggie. Sure he isn't just talking about the "Rap Trifecta": Illegal Activities, Girls and Jewlery, but to say he is lyrically one of the best just shows your own short-sighted view on the topic. I could go on and define what it means to be one of the best of the lyricist but I'll just defer to the Souls of Mischief for this one - youtube.com/watch?v=1RM6DM9EHTY&feature=related

Watch listen and learn little kid

  • @Cubs1719 if you think that Wayne copies Jay then i can't even have this conversation with you. id love an example of him copying Jay. Wayne is lyrical, but gets bashed for his topics and quite frankly for being a dumbass. he just isnt lyrical in the way that you or i (for the most part) enjoy. Like Slimkid3 said in your vid, lyricism is defined by your standards. waynes passion, flow and metaphors are undeniably original and creative. like it or not those are parts of the criteria for lyricism.

  • @ElectricConnor Wayne copies J who copies Biggie who is influenced Krs One. wayne's aesthetic is the same as the one created by Krs One and popularized by Biggie. You can't deny that, look at the way wayne presents himself and his music.

"waynes passion, flow and metaphors are undeniably original and creative." 2pac did this and rakim before him. Wayne is just simply not the first rapper to do what he is doing. Hip Hop is older than 10 years. Ps wayne didn't invent the use of metaphors

  • @ElectricConnor

Lastly you go ahead and keep quoting Slimkid3 and I am going to go ahead and keep quoting and supporting Souls of Mischief> Who do you think is a better source? Did you even watch the video it pretty much answers all you claims about Wayne being hahaha original and further fleshes out the criteria of being a good lyricist. Which my friends is much different than an MC / Master of Ceremonies.

  • @Cubs1719 everyone is influenced by someone else. because wayne isnt the first doesnt disqualify him from being lyrical. he has his own flow, rhyme style, etc. never have i said he is one of the best of all time and in no way is that my belief. you're blowing this out of proportion, i'm not here to be professor great debater and you're not all might hip hop jesus.

  • Also if you really want we can go ahead and go through lyrics and beats in which i can show you directly where he bites rhymes and where he steals beats from. Let the beat build ? produced by the great Kanye west....that was an originally a rapper in college called Nyle made for a school project. These bitters are fucking lame - they are whats wrong with Rap and if you dont get what i am talking about then you obviously weren't aroudn to Hot 97 in 90's. These cats are punks in comparison.

  • @Cubs1719 wayne is lyrical because he takes his experiences or even fictional situations and tells them in a creative & unique way through lyrics (in select songs). that is lyrical by definition, not the Souls opinion. slim kid tre is a viable source by the way, the pharcyde are widely respected, and were no less succesful than the souls.

  • @ElectricConnor to define lyrical is by not hardly ever use metaphors and pun and sidd but just powerfull steady rhymen with a deep ass meassge behind and still be able go double or tripple platinum easy like nas

  • Comment removed

  • @ElectricConnor wayne had a ghost writer for that album... so yeaa

  • Comment removed

  • @WhoKilledKenn I can rap you can rap probably too but who is wayne besides screeching saying meaningless verses about hoes and money. its the same shit. he is not evolving at all on his lyrical content. Im tired of metaphors that leads you nowhere. its clear that rappers are used for reversed knowledge they are repetitive like my school book on lies and bullsht.

  • @WhoKilledKenn

get off wayne dick hes the worst rapper ever he just says shit that doesnt make sense thats why u hate on lupe because he is million times better than wayne

  • jesus christ

  • "How you gonna school me when I grew up with your teachers?" haha "I don't feel I'm best, I just feel I'm better than" LOVE LUPE

  • @WhoKilledKenn thanks for breaking the mixtape down into individual songs and keeping the quality .. absolutely love this mixtape and have loved lupe since hearing the a rhyming ape mixtape! whos coming with me to his show in NYC on april 11th?

  • I F*cking ♥ RADIOHEAD!!!

  • The juxtaposition of a woman's body and modern issues within society....Now that's what I consider a true lyricist! Why isn't he getting the recognition he fucking deserves?!!

  • @K1DZ1LLA Exactly what ive been tryna say all along

  • "Just walk across my stage, and your life will be completed"

He was using Shakespheres poem I THINK

  • Overrated? Tupac wa the best because of the fact He Was Real No Lyrics Wise But Because Of What He Was Saying Not How He Put Words Together He Was THe Best Because He Went In The Booth At 9 for Example and Left at 9 The Next Morning And Had 30 songs done thats why he was the best Overrated Fuck No Nobody ever said he was the most lyrical he was more about gettin the message across Please Dnt Ever Disrespect That Man Again

  • lupe fiasco has more songs in less time, get out this videos url. for real tupac is was and always will be sick, lupe is the best cause he gets it acrossed without putting it plain in front of you but because you have to think and have an education, not just be some hood rat that sells crack. lu brings what the world needs at this point, someone in the rap hip hop game who can use words that dont sound stupid and doesnt swear every 5 seconds.

    pce

  • @MrJsquared91

cuz da o.g's in da hood r da teachers

  • No fucking way, he sampled Radiohead. Awesome :D

  • He digs rapping over Radiohead. This is awesome

  • @MrJsquared91 basicly like you can show him anything, because he's already ahead. it goes with the whole "school" metaphor in the 1st part

  • ive never really listened to lupe before this. damn ive been missing out.

  • the illumanatis official name is actually the build a burger society...just sayin...and there is like two people on lupe level idk who better tho...wale only up there cuz he be spittin but he aint been out long enough to fuck wit lupe but ma man blu up dare wit lupe definitley

  • This song hard as fuck.

Wanna point out one thing tho.....plez dont thumbs down me, I noticed it:

He says "I'm red hot chilli, im Anthony Keidis, my spirit smells teenage"

Smells like teen spirit is by Nirvana.

Jus had to point that out, no thumbs down ya'll.

This mixtape goes hard as fuck & I dont usually fuck w/ mixtapes

  • @worthlessburger7 Chilli is his business partner and friend that has been imprisoned since before people started noticing how sick Lupe is so hes sort of sending him a message that he is red hot now. Hes not saying Smells Like Teen Spirit was done by the peppers .. that was a separate statement and im sure he knows nivana made it .. by the way i still gave you a thumbs up :)

  • @angelgonz if you listen to his second album he has a song called Free Chilly and also on the So Ghetto song on this mixtape he says "this one's for Chilly Chill" !

  • @angelgonz I kno bro, I was jus playin. I hope he knos Smells like Teen Spirit was by Nirvana, it was prolly the most popular song in the 90s

  • @angelgonz lol, he wasnt giving a shoutout to his man Chilly in that verse tho. he said "im red hot chilli, im anthony keidis" he was referring to the lead singer of the red hot chilli peppers. not his man Chilly

  • @worthlessburger7 both Anthony Keidis and Kurt were good friends and both bands came out around the same time, that's the connection

  • @worthlessburger7 Y would you think you'd get thumbs downed thats an observation and yea exactly that's why he said my spirit smells teenage

  • @worthlessburger7 Actually i think hes saying "im red hot, CHILLY(free chill;) ) im anthony keidis. this mixtape is proof that lupEND should not be the end :P

  • @CardiacKatz yea Chilly is his business partner, but anthony keidis is the lead singer of the red hot chilli peppers, and thats what he meant in that verse, it wasnt a reference to his partner Chilly

  • @CardiacKatz Yeah i agree.

  • @worthlessburger7 I think he was just using another rock reference and not referencing it to Anthony keidis who is in the group red hot chilli peppers. he has referenced kurt cobain in one of his other songs so he probably knows what group he belongs to.

  • @worthlessburger7

Wait so you believe that Lupe Fiasco doesn't know this? Now thats one hell of an assumption. Seems more likely that he took two 90's alt rock referrences and smashed them together. I won't give you a downvote but come on use your common sense a little more next time - he definitely meant to do that.

  • @Cubs1719 I never said I believed he didnt kno it. I jus thought it was very clever that he used the 2 in a reference. So wether you gave me a downvote or not wouldn't have bothered me

  • "How you gonna skol me if I grew up wit ya teachers"

    My nigga goes off

  • Lupe is one of most intellectual/wise people I know of. His style is creative and truly amazing too. If most people were the same, then they would understand where he was coming from and be enlightened/uplifted as well as entertained when they heard him.

  • LUPE'S SICK, BOTTOM LINE!!!!

  • lupe my shit

  • Lol Lupe is a beast, I loved that last verse 2:38

  • Japanlen blogspot com

Japanese Big Dolly Eye Contact Lens

  • I want the instrumental.

  • It's just Radiohead's The National Anthem off of Kid A.

  • Just great!

  • Hahaha

    Define "poor"

  • @goodreverend Please understand this is a mixtape and if you were listen to Food & Liquor and The Cool you would think twice of what you think

There is no storyline or nesscary meaning in this mixtape besides of him just wanting to do music

  • you must be deaf, how can you say he is off pace? if this isn't good rap, then please educate me...

  • ok English teacher......

i'm pretty sure if he were to mix up his pace on this song, his flow would have sounded awful during the transaction. but maybe you can show me some non "poor" rap.

  • lol..

    dumb nigga..

    u obviously dont know rap..

and u obviously havent listened to one of his CD's. listen to The Cool or Food & Liquor then you'll understand..

kids these days.. always need to be educated..

  • no no no.. ur a kidd..

especially if u say lupe fiasco aint good..

    sry bro. truth hurts.

  • you a fuckin trip, the shit lupe spits no one else can come up wit it

  • @goodreverend

    now your being ignorant

  • It's "you're", not "your". I'll take my lessons on what's ignorant from someone else, thanks.

  • @goodreverend

lol wasnt giving you a lesson. but I mean if you are 35 looking for lessons on the computer maybe somone should straighten out there priorities. have a nice life bud.

  • Tupac's probably one of the most overrated rappers of all time.

  • @b2lo22o22 wow dude your really dumb

  • I agree. I wouldn't say he's overrated. But I do disagree when people say he's the best. He was great but I cannot say he's the best, there are some emcees out here that had 2pac, but people are afraid to say it, because they don't want no one to look at them funny. Like how you got thumbs down. But I admire you for being you and saying what you felt.

  • wait how is he weak? Lyrics too deep for you to grasp? Personification, metaphor and allegory too much for you? This is the shit tupac and tribe called quest never gave us.. In fact i think tupac was very inconsistant, in one song he's killin niggas and fucking bitches and another about female impowerment.. My mind needs a little stimulation and lupe does that... Its a shame that you dont like him and that i cant change your opinion..

  • @wyte1 I agree i like,2 pac, but for that reason i never could put him on the same level as a NAs

  • @wyte1 tupac started rapping about fuckin bitches and then his thoughts and emotions began turnin a different route and started rapping about good stuff like female empowerment and anti-alcohol lifestyles.

  • @BackoiMedia I love Pac but that is not true. Keep your head up and I get around are three songs away from each other on Strictly for My Niggas. Tupac was ambivalent.

  • listen to The Coll by him & tell me his shit is weak

  • if its his style, how can it be shit? its only shit when its compared to something. what would be some"one"s style you wouldnt consider to be bad

if you dont like it, ok. its that simple,

all the rest is fairly base.

why does rap have to be so defined?

  • I'm a Radiohead fan, and feel R. fans take the songs way too seriously to not accept this. Rappers feed from all types of inspiration, song-jacking or not.

  • what the hell, hes rapping not singing ha ha.

  • Who's better than this guy?!

  • NOBODY! HE IS THE TRUTH!

  • yeah man lupe is really snapping on the industry and america.....I hope the illuminati dont try and take him out........

  • me too

  • what beat does this beat comes from

  • the national anthem by radiohead

  • thx

  • Anytime.

  • Not at all, its really just this song and Say Something.

  • no its not
