I prefer Rage over these guys but one thing is for certain: Zack's vocals were a hell of a lot more powerful during his Inside Out days. He still had this range in RATM's first album but he lost it by the time Evil Empire came out.

I think some people don't "get it" this is "HARDCORE". It's a style of music that ranges from lyrical and musical variance. It's not 'metal" it's not "rap rock" or "punk". It's not trying to be. It's "HARDCORE" and it has some pretty deep roots. I could understand, most people probably just think of "RATM" that's what's known and that's what's expected when they see or hear Zack and these recordings during the hardcore days. Understandable. Maybe you're just discovering hardcore? Welcome!

I personally think that all the sub-genres of punk should stop using stupid labels and just call themselves punk because then the scene would be more unified and it could become a movement again. @RockandRoll2471 Yes. But.... You got bands like Husker Du, Joy Division, Crass, MinuteMen, and such ... It's pretty safe to say they are punk... more or less right? But are they "hardcore"? See, what I mean? I know that hardcore is a derivative of punk but you have to accept that the term "hardcore" has changed alot since the the 80's to 90's and now. The message, lyrical substance of hc has spread and has become more defined with hc bands of the late 80's and 90's and so on.

I'm just kinda sick of people overusing the term hardcore and creating a scene that isn't completely connected to the punk scene as a whole. I don't like that hardcore bands usually only play with hardcore bands and not other types of punk bands. What we need is unity, not scenes that exist within larger scenes. Punk is punk regardless of the genre. Punk is a mindset. Fuck labels.

All I meant was that Inside Out was a hardcore band. It was a very different beast all together than ratm which some people don't seem to understand, judging from comments. Zack, needless to say was a huge Bad Brains fan and was heavily involved in the hc scene of the late 80's and early 90's.
