Julie originally came from North Uist. Gaelic is spoken by most locals there, and also on the Isle of Lewis,Harris and Skye. What a lovely piece of music, it makes you proud to be Scottish.
For those who don't know, Scotch is a drink. The people from Scotland are called Scots. You can be Scottish. The language is Scots Gaelic, pronounced Galic. Scotch is whiskey.
Iam very interested in celtic music , at most the tradional or old ones. Could anybody help me to find a right ressource of them. It may be video channel, online radio or eLibrary. Thanks so much
@donaialbo You are on the right track... Research Julie Fowlis, she is recording the old Celtic or Scotch Gaelic music. Another good website is: Thistle Radio. Lot's of good music there...
@lubiehotdogi Looks like he's playing normal tuning with a capo on the 1st or 2nd fret (my eyes aren't so good...) the penultimate tune is in G so I think he sticks to G, C and D mostly
Can anyone tell me who is playing what instrument? I am not familiar with the drum like instrument that the gentleman is playing sitting to the left of Julie Fowlis in the video. Perhaps it is similar to a hope-a -folk. I am probably spelling that incorrectly but spelled it like I have heard it pronounced. Great post.
@kevinmeehan71 the name of that tune is called "Peter Byrne's". Great tunes and lovely Julie :)

The "drum like instrument" is a bodhran. I won't swear to the names of the musicians but I think it is
Eamon Doorley - bouzouki
Duncan Chisholm - fiddle
Ewan Vernal - bass
Martin O'Neill - bodhran
Tony Byrne - guitar
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer me. It is very helpful. These are all great musicians.
