@simonbellringer They are fine to ring, yes they are light but the way they are hung makes them handle like bigger bells. The draught is a bit on the long side but there are guides, just concentrate on pulling the rope straight and you'll be fine. The do have stays! but the 'sliders' if you can call them that are bungie cord so very hard to break, but if you do hit one the bell comes back at you very fast!
@dwigley1977 Well, we got the quarter, yes, they WERE interesting!! Did ou go upstairs and see them in the frame? Interesting, little bells in a big old frame for a 8cwt 5, and the treble on its lonesome down below them...
The etreble was extremely quiet because of that when in changes!!
@dwigley1977 And the bungee cord sliders make them VERY hard to tell if they're stood or not!! Apart from the 5, that's EXTREMELY deep set!! Interesting ring, an experience to be had once...
Thanks so much for posting this, I recently discovered the Town of Imber while researching by last name (Imber) online and found the Wikiedia link on the history of Imber - very old - 967 AD at least. There's even a poem about Imber.
Ive been invited here soon - what were they like to ring? Light and supposedly long draught?!!
