Does anyone have a better quality live version of this song or know how I could find an MP3 live version to download? The album track is not even similar enough to have the same title.
On iTunes there is a podcast called "NPR: Live Concerts from All Songs Considered" and it has a full Nickel Creek concert recording. It has a wonderful version of House Carpenter with about five minutes more of a mandolin solo about 23 minutes in.
Best version of "The House Carpenter" is by an Irishman named Mick (or Nick) McAulay. He has a solo album (normally he is part of Solas) that has an incredible version of this song. I love Nickel Creek, but I have to give Mr. McAulay kudos for his version of this song.
I wasn't too familiar with this song at the concert, but the harmonies were really amazing. (That's me saying "So good" to my friend) I'm glad it turned out decently, and I'm glad I caught the majority of the song.
I LOVE Sara's voice! She really knocks me out! YOU GO GIRL!

Saw them in Milwaukee. This used to be one of my LEAST favorite Nickel Creek songs, but I ended up admittedly pretty teary-eyed by the end.
It's a terribly moving song now. The harmonization and solos are amazing.

This is the most complete video recording of this song that I have seen. It's really great live. The harmonies add so much to it.
