I remember an interview with Chris,(I think it was on MTV 1994) he talked 'bout this great song and he said somethin' like "it's one of my fav songs from superunknown cos it's very influenced of my fav band Black Sabbath(...)we tried to make something so dark, so raw, and the result was this song, yeh"
@pearljamporch I can't tell for Pretty Noose, but the tunning used for Head down is quite different from the tunning used for Limo Wreck. Here's the tunning:
@samsael oh thank you, I nailed Limo Wreck today on the guitar, very fun to play... those harmonics are very mezmerizing don't you think? ..and yeah, well you didn't asked but Head Down, Pretty Noose and Burden In My Hand are in the same tuning
Someone may have already answered this somewhere in the last hundred comments, but where was this recorded? I saw them on this tour at the Armory in NYC, june '94. The air conditioning system broke in the venue and it was like 120 degrees in there - almost intolerable. The played great despite that and I remember going completely nuts during Rusty Cage, Jesus Christ Pose and Superunknown - great memory, wish I could see them again.
i predict that there will be a rock revelution in a decade. the first since the beatles. And right then better music will be released. either that or itll get worse and rap and pop will evolve into something much bigger and worse.
I look up these videos for the sole purpose of catching some of Matt's drumming, but I get so disappointed that EVERY ONE of them focuses on Matt for no more than 15 seconds throughout the whole thing. And he's the most fun to watch too.
God has cleverly arranged it so that my income tax is due one day before my birthday. Thus I start off each fiscal and mortal year flat broke and apprehensive. My financial balance sheet is red, my moral state black. If it were up to me, I would never reduce to figures the sorry state of my bankroll, but there seems to be no escape from the government
If this band EVER reunited, people would, I believe for the first time in recorded human history, do the very first global Simul-Crapping of their pants! I have a vision...this must happen lol
I've always felt the same way... I'm dying for it to happen but Chris doesn't seem like hes having it unfortunately. Hate to say it but I think he's kinda sold out a bit, i dont think the guys (Soundgarden) really stay in touch at all. sad really...
Hahaha theres no way californication even compares to superunknown. Sure theyre totally different bands and shouldnt even be compared in the first place but music wise Superunknown is almost untouchable.
U2 made some classic albums that im not really a fanof but can still acknowledge. but even though they do have some songs i can enjoyably listen to theyre quite annoying, and im not even considering the whole "bono being an asshole" factor but come on, have u heard the song vertigo?? thats the epitome of irritating pop rock.
i hate when people automatically assume bonos a bad guy hes a good guy not superman but an ok guy and yeah vertigo is pretty generic but ive listened to that wholw album and their is som great songs on it i think u2 and soundgareden are 2 very different bands that both did alot for music i just leave it at that
I like U2 and I listen to them. They're really influential and have been for the past twenty or more years. They got the mainstream appeal and never left the spotlight since they got in it, but that's it. I feel that Soundgarden was more talented than them.
Oh, and Californication was lame as far as I'm concerned. It was good for a RHCP comeback album, but they're best stuff is BSSM and before to their funk days.
I don't really listen to Radiohead much, I can only tolerate their hits.
@Soundgardener80 Yeah me too dude.... One of the very best albums ever. Fell On Black Days is my favorite song ever but the whole cd is a complete masterpiece.
i cant believe cornell was able to sing that song live...and it was the LAST song at the show? the mans a freak! i mean that in the best way possible.
It is a about a limo! In a 1995 interview Chris made clear that the inspiration for the song lyrics came to him when he saw a limo thrashed on a offroad somewhere, and he thought about the unvencible feeling that whoever owns a limo may feel, writing the lyrics about how deceitful that is... but he might have joked... I think it is about how fake and frail the feeling of power can be.
no one really knows what this song is about some people have said that its about the apocalypse and our own demise and some people have said that its about how we're using up everything around us and our responsible for our own imminent extinction but who really knows............................ it could even be about a limo wreck.......
i love the end...badass song badass cornell and thayil, i fucking hate the fact that i was 6 in '94 but this is just an insane song it gives u this hopeless feeling and u're guided through it by cornell's unique and powerful voice
One of my favourites by Soundgarden as well. It's all about that killer riff! And the sound just drones on and on. Sound like....the impending doom or something.
Chris said it's Sabbath influenced, but I've always thoughts it sounded pretty Doors-y to me. It's both actually. I fucking love soundgarden...

can somebody tell me what tuning are they using in this song?
pearljamporch 7 months ago
@pearljamporch Hi! They're playing in open C.
Cheers!
samsael 7 months ago
@samsael is it the same tuning used in Head Down and Pretty Noose?
pearljamporch 7 months ago
@pearljamporch I can't tell for Pretty Noose, but the tunning used for Head down is quite different from the tunning used for Limo Wreck. Here's the tunning:
Head down (from low to high): C-G-C-G-G-E
Limo Wreck (from low to high): C-G-D-G-B-E
Almost identical... don't you think?
samsael 7 months ago
@samsael oh thank you, I nailed Limo Wreck today on the guitar, very fun to play... those harmonics are very mezmerizing don't you think? ..and yeah, well you didn't asked but Head Down, Pretty Noose and Burden In My Hand are in the same tuning

@pearljamporch Heres the tunning (from low to high) CGDGBE
Hope it helps you.
