  • Your guys are crazy. Manigult or Raymond Lewis may have been GOOD but this guy was a freak of nature. He was ONLY 16 at the time of this video!!!!!! He also NEVER seen a weight room. Everything that he's doing is raw ability. BEST PLAYER TO NEVER PLAY HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The problem Ronnie Fields would have ran into was that he was 6'2 but not a point guard. Accident was a shame though. Would have liked to see him play in college.

  • Too bad about the accident, it would be great to see him in the nba

  • How was Ronnie Fields not part of the ESPN: 30 for 30 Documentaries??

  • Ronnie Rocked period!

  • Apparently none u all have heard of LA legend Raymond Lewis who -- unlike engaging primarily in the leaping and dunking theatrics of Fields and Mangault -- could actually shoot, pass and handle the ball -- unlike anyone in history. He was only 6'2" but shot 59% in his soph season at L.A. state and scored 38 against Walton's UCLA Bruins. In 1983, in a summer league game, at the age of 34, he scored 53 points while being guarded by Michael Cooper, the best perimeter defender in the NBA.

  • there wud probably be no vince carter if he went to the nba !

  • Goat manigult is the greatest to never play. I mean, he is the goat.

    Ronnie fields can be #2.

  • @BKMcBurgerPants Most of the "GOATS" reason for greatest is from people talking about how great he was. It's really opinion since no one can prove or disprove it.

One thing that was special about Ronnie is that there is a lot of video footage to back up how great he was.

  • @GSPfan10 Just saying, this is somebody who was referred to Kareem as the best he's ever seen. This is a 6'1 guy who could touch the top of the backboard. Someone who could "double dunk".

Look Ronnie Fields is a tragic story. I get that. But, Manigault could have been one of the best players in the NBA of all time.

  • @BKMcBurgerPants Yeah but there's no footage of The Goat although I know what you mean.

  • kobe bryant was the top player that year.

i guess some things never change.

  • For every Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Lebron James type of guys, there are guys like him, Earl Manigault and Demetrius "Hook" Mitchell.

  • I saw this nigga do everything but pass I dont noe if he can pass good or not but he is raw no doubt but if he can pass then that would be perfect

  • God its so HARD to remember that he is 16, 17, and 18 years old in these highlights! He literally did anything he wanted on the court. Really wish he could have realized his potential. When he got in that crash it was absolutely no different than hearing that Scottie Pippen or Jordan were crash - thats how much he meant to some kids like me in Chicago.

  • Una leyenda.. En Venezuela..

  • Any kid who grew up in the 90's knew Fields. Not just in Chicago but the MIdwest - and thats before all of the exposure that althletes get now. He could shoot, play D, and sky like no other. He was like a supercharged jet going to the rim. He made the 10:00 news every night he played it seemed. Guys aren't usually covered like that in high school. He in that "What could have been" category with Lenny Bias.

  • Thats true...i lived in Queens NY at the time and i even heard of him...my cousin played ball in jersey near Camden and he would put me up on the up n coming names..Fields was one of them..i think Lester Earl was another name i kept hearing

  • 4:21 is at Parkland College in Champaign,IL

    I went to school there

  • too bad he couldn't pass a class in H.S.

  • Fields was tied with Kobe for No 1 player in the nation in high school and Kobe was 3 inches taller than him not that it makes a difference but for a SG it does because if Ronnie did not grow he would have played point in the NBA imagine if he was 3 inches taller (oh and Kobe was the 13 pick of of high school)

  • UHHHH.....

  • Y'all are idiots. He can play defense a lot better than 90% of the guys coming out of college nowadays. There is def. a place in the league for Ronnie Fields.

  • None of these people know the story of Ronnie Fields...I'm a white kid from the South Side of Chicago and I bawled my eyes out when I heard he was badly injured and may not walk again...he was the best player ever to come out of the Chicago-land area and would have been an NBA Hall of Famer EASILY had he not been in that accident

  • @dannymilk --->100% true. In the 90's he was superstar all across Chi-town. His was a legend, and had he had his stuff 2gether off court he would be in NBA no doubt.

  • I agree. That is a major point of this video. It takes more than just skill and athleticism.

  • I agree it takes more than dunking a basketball to make it to the NBA but fields can do so much more than dunk it

  • 412 steals and 371 blocks. Yeah, you are right, just a big dunker. Lol.

A lot of people have heard of him. There are youtube videos about him even. Where are the youtube videos about you? Lol.

    Go home.

  • @spencernicks you prolly sayin that cause you can't dunk lol

  • what song is that at :40

  • That dunk at 3:56 was vintage JRich. I see now where he got alot of his dunks from.

  • Is this video made by Brick City Productions?

  • Yes...aka Me

  • Wow amazing, i can't fucking believe that random airballing 12 inch vert white people can get in the nba, but not a guy that has a 50inch vert plus a great shooter, plus great in the paint doesn't get in the NBA this guy couldv'e bin better that michael jordan if he improved his shooting he sure can jump higher than MJ.

  • a lot of people jump higher and dunk better than MJ nowawadays. But that's about it.

  • The Homestretch - 6 Million Way to Fly

  • what is the name of the song that starts at 1:30 ???? pls someone !

  • The Homestretch - 6 Million Way to Fly

  • thank you so much dude !

  • Even Kg says him self that Ronnie was better then him at that point? Carter had beter jumpshoot in higschool then ronnie? Are u watching the video dude?

  • @dreserb Ronnie was not a great shooter in HS...or a better description would be "not a pressure shooter" I know the video shows him making all sorts of 3's but the majority of them were shot with his team comfortabaly ahead...

  • Ronnie Fields also challanged Vince Carter to a dunk contest , Vince declined.

  • Excellent documentary. More people should know this guys story.

  • Why is this in 2 parts?

  • YouTube would not allow me to upload the entire video as one piece.

  • 39 dunks in a game wtf lol

  • it was 39 dunks in eight games

  • lmao my bad i just had sugery to repair my hearing so yer my bad

  • Ronnie was and still bigest legend in chicago basketball history...if he didnt had car crash damn

  • two words: Ben Wilson.

  • Ronnie feilds was an incredible dunker, he reminds me of "Hook" mitchell

  • I do agree, Ronnie is an amazing player. I am fortunate to get to watch him in our local cba league here in minot, nd. Very unfortunate he had that accident. He would have been a great nba player!Still a blast to watch him. I was at their game lastnight.

  • im from the chi and this dude is a legend.

  • I grew up wathing ronnie fields play in his prime and so forth.. I live in Rockford, IL Ronnie was on the local Rockford Lightning in the CBA league.. And in his prime he was the MJ of the league... he masterd the fadeaway and used it effectively.. he had amazing hangtime.. amazing dunks,up n unders, clutch shots,n big block shots.. the man was amazing.. its a shame the team sold out and is no longer here w/ us...

  • who cares about the CBA. Ronnie Fields would've been a hell of a player had he not gotten into that accident. He and Kevin Garnett playing together was a sight to see. Farraguat was a hell of a team with those two.

  • awsome vid, first time i heard of him, but most famous basketball player to never make it to the NBA is the goat

  • i saw him play in the boston shooutout in

1995, he had like 9 dunks in the game against a team from atlanta. never seen anything like

it. 6'2 and head over the rim everytime!

  • farraguat chicago??

did he play with kevin garnett

  • yes he played one year with him

  • I'm about the same age as Ronnie & KG. Ronnie had all the headlines in the papers. If he hadn't broken his neck he would have been in the NBA right next to KG. Hard to believe that KG was the 2nd best player on the team, but yes - believe the hype about Ronnie Fields. He WAS high school basketball.

  • This kid was truly the truth. He was the Lebron of his time. Truly Kobe wouldn't have been able to fuck with him

  • a damn shame he didn't make the league plz tell me why?

  • Watch part 2 for more answers.

  • Great clip. ronnie that my guy. I played against him when i was at westinghouse and played with him in aau at the great midwest classic in chicago. ronnie was ahead of his time. im pretty sure he still a great player. I have not seen him play in a long time,CBA games is not televised. yeah he should have been given a shot at the nba. but again remember nba depends on what team needs what.

  • Any stories you'd care to share of Ronnie from you HS days?

  • I will share a story. it's part of his highlight. we were playing them at home. they were coming down on the break, imagine kg on one wing and ronnie on the over. I fake at ronnie to make him pass to kg but he just took off from outside the lane, dunk the fans was going nuts.

  • That particular dunk is on the video? What part?

  • I played at C.V.S when Ronnie and KG played at Farrgaut. Ronnie caught a rape charge, and colleges didn't want him. So he ended up over seas

  • look how high he goes on pic 0:55

  • how come i've never heard 'bout this player ronnie fields???!!! not to mention he used 2 play along side KG!!! dats crazy, what happened to his man?

  • puts his elbow in the rim at 0:37

  • dwayne wade was born in chicago so he's the best born chicago baller

  • dwade never even approached what Ronnie Fields did on an offnight in High School.

  • so u saying he's better than dwade

  • Who cares, where is he now? Overrated a bit??

  • He broke his neck at age 19 and was pretty much never the same after that. Cut him some slack.

  • I remember when he was a shorty on the block, we used 2 call him E.T.

  • ronnie fields was a special dunker. like vince carter. probably a little better than vince. but vince jump shot was is like ten times better

  • Carter's jumpshot wasn't very good in college.

  • Ronnie Fields was the greatest player in Illinois High School basketball history. He put on performances you would not believe. Kevin Garnett was an afterthaught on that team

  • Um no. Dike Eddleman is greatest player in Illinois High School Basketball History, and arguably the best athlete in Illinois ahtletic history (both in H.S and at the University of Illinois). Look him up.

Ronnie Fields is up there though, he truly was great.

and GSPfan10, Georges St. Pierre will be champ for a looooooong time. I don't think BJ or anyone has anything for him.

  • I agree. GSP probably will have long reign as champ.

  • um, who???

  • Only reason he didnt mak it to the nba because he broke his neck

KG couldnt go to college because he didnt pass the sat's and that why he didnt go to college and went to the nba

  • blessedwone:

U think? Even better than Rose or Wade? I mean Wade iz really from Chicago. I'm only 16, and live in a different state so i can't say anything on Ronnie's game based on a short documentary....

  • in High school there is no comparison. Hands down he was much better then both.

  • Ronnie is the second best high school player to come out of Chicago some say he was even better than Isaih Thomas. The young players today admire him Jitim Young who is great in his own way another fantastic player, Will Bynum, Luther Head, Tony Allen, Cory Maggette, Quentin Richardson, all talk and respect the Legend of Ronnie Fields...

  • preach on

  • wow. Heard he was sick but damn. Look like Harold Minor and Jordan rolled together. With the range of Mitch richmond.

  • was this guy in the 95 McDonald's dunk contest?

  • It would have been 1996. Ronnie was a McDonald's All American, but due to the car wreck he was unable to play.

Lester Earl won the contest, beating Corey Benjamin and Kobe Bryant in the finals but Ronnie was quoted a month later saying "I would have won the dunk contest hands down."

  • he did participate in the illinois high schoolbasketball dunk contests though, and those are televised. so theyre out there somewhere

  • You would think in this day with sites like youtube, someone would have posted something by now.

  • and he would've. Easily.

  • we played him at the centurion classic in HS. and he was going 4 a breakaway dunk, and one of my teammates almost clotheslined him on accident just trying to stop him from dunking. There entire stands almost stormed the court after him. The refs had 2 stop the game for 10 minutes. After that that cat stood a the the box posting up yelling at the point to just throw it up. He threw it I swear it was at the top of the box. Ronnie caught it and crushed on our center who was 6'9. All at 6'3(if that)

  • This is really an amazing guy i am just glad that i am lucky enough to know him. he would of definatly been an all-star

  • Wow he is a great player and he would of been exciting to watch in the NBA good luck Ronnie!

  • yeah. you think u cud post some videos of him like in a full game. so we can see how we played not only dunking. that wud be tite

  • I will try in the next couple months.

  • hey man jus come to minot, north dakota and watch him on the skyrockets

  • yah.but he doesnt dunk like that n e more does he?

  • yeah. you think u cud post some videos of him like in a full game. so we can see how we played not only dunking. that wud be tite

  • so did he try to go to the league out of high school?

  • "Guard Ronnie Fields was named the CBA Player of the Week as he averaged 33.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 2.3 steals"

Feb. 2006 from InsideHoops dot Com

  • He's playing in the CBA now, right?

  • where can i get the documentary

  • Just for YouTube.

  • it loos like he got hung at 4:07

  • No...he crushed it.

  • nop... he missed it

  • Then the entire gym, refs and all the players missed it. Cause they counted it as two on the scoreboard. I have the entire game.

  • i dont believe you?!?!? hahaha...OK, if you say so.

  • He is a good guy and he still has game. He can't dunk like he used, but he's still got game. He plays now a lot like Jordan did when he came out of retirement the first and second time I guess. Master of the fade away and still a solid defender on the perimeter.

  • I've met Ronnie a few times, real cool guy, and great player.

  • SHUT THe FUCK up fags

  • air up there is a better dunker than this guy...but not a better player

  • Hard to say who the better dunker is. The 360 between the legs is sick. Ronnie has more of a power style. This is also 10 years before AUT.

  • and considering Ronnie was 16 and 17 years old in these videos...

    We'll find out how nasty ronnie is one day...right ant!....Wolf? ! :)

  • Atright

  • the song that starts at 24 seconds and ends at 1:18, and the song at 1:34 to 4:31.

  • First song is called "The Second Coming" by Juelz Santana.

Second song is called "6 Million Ways to Fly" by The Homestretch

  • what are the names of the songs in this video?

  • I used a few for both parts. Is there a specific one you are asking about?

  • Wow that 360 windmill looked so easy.

  • You're right. Just another play where you could tell Ronnie was bored.

  • WOW..... JUST LIKE THAT

  • 360 Mill ...so sick, Ant, make the movie man.

    talk to you soon

  • I'd love to make the movie. I'll keep shopping it around.

  • he pretty much did the 360 mill effortlessly...so sick
