im still waiting for your response bret. i called j&r and they transferred me to sony and they told me that i had to get the latest version of imovie , only then can i play it. this means that just for this camera i have to upgrade my entire system of Tiger( 10.4.0) to leopard (10.6) since imovie 09 doesnt install on my existing OS.that means a couple of hundred dollars extra.

since youre the expert for J&R and I BOUGHT this from J&R , please do try and help me here.

I've got this camera. This review doesn't do it justice. I looked at a vriety of cameras inluding the Canons. Nothing comes close to the Sony for features. You have to experience the Image Stabiliser to see what it's like. It's Awsome. The GPS, Well it's a gimmick ut it can be useful. Picture Quality is "Out of this World". It's one, Excellent, Allround, Camera. Still Pictures are just amazing. Better than my SLR. Btw, Image stils are 6mpx interpolated to 12mpx. Can't go wrong with this cam.

@DamiansChannel Hello buddy am more confused to buy cameras... i like sony HDR-XR520vr with 240gb camera and also Nikon d 3100 which is more good could you please help me finding it. As some says sony cameras and this camera especially will support softwares only sony vegas is that true? v cant use any other softwares to edit the film when v use sony HDR-XR520vr is that true? please clarify my doubt... am in big confusion to buy sony HDR-XR520vr or Nikon d 3100... recently i buy sony HDR TG7 BUT I CANT BURN DVD ON MY MAC WHAT IS THE BEST SOLUTION TO BURN DVD FROM SONY HDR TG7 ANY ONE PLEASE.......

they say HD but it is only 1080i. It's not 1080p. They make sure you can't find that on the specifications. Read reviews on the camera though.

can you please tell me though if the fact that it uses a hard drive with that HDD smart protection, does it make it impossible to recored in 'jerky' situations, for example hoding it while horse riding? (not that i'm planning to do that!) - I've heard that solid state memory is better for that reason.
