Well Beau . I competed in my first speech contest. I didn't place but I really connected with the audience. Alot of people came up to me after I was done and told me that they LOVED my speech! So I may not have won over the judges but I won over the crowd.
@itsallgood25 The magic formula of speeches are: Tell them what you want to tell them, Tell them, tell them what you told them. Start with building rapport like a story or fact to grab attention, say your piece and just summarize what you said to end. Always give the audience something to take with them from your speech, always remember the "what's in it for me" of your audience and you'll be fine.

@itsallgood25 Excellent! Just have to get in there and do lots of speeches. You'll find your style will find itself after doing lots of speeches.
